My grandmother on my Mom's side has it. And I dont know if its Alzheimers or if shes actually loosing her brain. Im not making fun of her or anything, but when I was in Flordia with her, I was packing up my luggage in the car for her to take me to Disney world when all of a sudden I saw the most disturbing thing I have ever seen in my life. She walked outside in broad daylight without any articles of clothing.
...Now sure I was mature about it, I took off my robe I had on and covered her up in it. She kept mumbling like she was half-asleep or something and I led her back inside the house for her to get some clothes on. Another story is that she hit somebody at a gas station and not realised that she hit a car! I told her to stop and she started freaking out trying to bite my head off, telling me that I dont know anything because im bigender...we eventually stopped and ever since then we really dont talk to each other. My option to you is that you make that person as confortable as possiable, let him/her know that you will do chores for them, help them clean, anything so that they use as little energy as possiable and help make their lives more confortable. |

My neighbor had it, and my uncle does now; but it's not too bad. You just have to make sure to keep an eye on her... or perhaps get her to wear one of those tracking bracelets thingies. |

Ill put it this way. I need some help. For those of you who dont know my grandmother has Alzheimers. Some things have happend recently and it's been really hard to deal with it.
What are your experiences with people who have this disease and how do you cope with it? For those of you that want to know about what happend please just go HERE and read the first paragraph. |
