The rating system never works, parents who don't care will buy the game for there kid(s) anyway. Couldn’t they be doing something better with there time than complaining about something that will most likely never get resolved, I thought it funny that they mentioned they need to do more research, how much time do they need to waste and waste of tax payers money to realise violence is bad

Very amusing though, I wish they would air Jon Stewart’s show here

Not really, the thread is in the form of just presenting something, not necessarily a conflict. This is just entertaining, as stands to be in this forum.

"The House of Representatives is filled with insane morons."

I agree, that they really are, beating a dead hooker. How much clearer can M for mature, T for teen, and E for everyone be? What do they want them to do? Name each individual person that can and can't play the game. In my opinion, the ESRB's system is more effective than the MPAA's system for rating movies.

PS-Shouldn't this be in debate?

EDIT: Thought I'd use the embed code to make this easyer for people...

Jon Stewart to Save the Gamers?
Joystiq's political column, courtesy of GamePolitics, talks this week about the bad rep games and gamers get in the popular press. They ask the question: 'Who will save the gamers?' Their answer: Daily Show host Jon Stewart. From the article: "Pennsylvania's Joe Pitts, mocked by Stewart for saying that violent games might affect ghetto children differently from affluent kids, actually protested -- after his opponent in a tough election campaign exploited The Daily Show fiasco for political gain. And that's precisely why Jon Stewart could be the savior of games. People tune in. For many younger viewers, it's the only news program they watch. Stewart, and colleague Stephen Colbert are seen as smart, funny, credible and relentlessly sticking it to the man. Elected officials, on the other hand, can't afford to come off as bumbling, low-tech and clueless. Naturally, Stewart helps them do so on a nightly basis."
