The Defamer discusses how Heath's untimely death makes the Dark Knight trailer all that more chilling: http://defamer.com/347808/heath-ledgers-chilling-final-bow-in-the-dark-knight

Heath Ledger's Chilling Final Bow In 'The Dark Knight'

So how's The Dark Knight for goodbyes? Give us anything--Brokeback Mountain's heartache, Candy's cautionary tale of--gulp--heroin addiction, even Casanova (OK, not Casanova)--but not the The Dark Knight. Not that disfigured creep in the trenchcoat. Heath's last words to us can't be a menacingly growled, "It's all...part of the plan." His last note, not "Why so serious?" scrawled across a theatrical one-sheet in fingerpainted blood. Warner Bros. has issued this statement in response to his death:

"The studio is stunned and devastated by this tragic news. The entertainment community has lost an enormous talent. Heath was a brilliant actor and an exceptional person. Our hearts go out to his family and friends."

The irony, of course, is that The Joker will be one of Heath's greatest, destined to be referenced first, along with Brokeback, as his legend grows. Still--if the performance wasn't nightmare-fuel before... (And it was. Just watch that trailer.) Expect an immediate repositioning in the Knight campaign, with Bale's Cowled Crusader ushered back to front and center, for the time being at least. We need heroes right now.

So did they finish the movie before his untimely death?

The site for the movie is now just a memorial page for Heath Ledger, nothing else.

Oh, for the love of...

Are they serious?

No disrespect for the dead, but the movie's website should offer much more than that. Perhaps that should have been the lead-in page instead of the picture of the Bat-arang.

Wow, those are some really tallented web designers there. They know the link and image tags. You'd think WB would have better people. If you're going to have just that, make it really nice? Or just have that be the main page, and have a sidebar or something.

Feel like going and making a site of what they should have done...

EDIT: Also, people have been saying that WB will not release Dark Knight because of Ledger's death. To which I respond "Are you retarted?" After the amount of time and money they've sunk into it? Not only that, but if they don't release this, it pretty much kills the franchise, so that's a massive source of income out the window.

And to those that say it will be weird to watch DK, I respond "Is it weird to watch a Chris Farley movie, because he's dead?" No. Although this is more recent, my point still stands.

Too bad though, this looks like it will be Heath Ledger's greatest role yet. Out with a bang?

I agree. I was never really a Ledger fan, but this looks to be very promising, and to everyone who says that the movie shouldn't come out... "FUCK YOU!". It would be more disrespecting to NOT show it.

Best Week Ever posted this video that's supposed to be a side-by-side comparison of the two Batman vs. Joker movie trailers, comparing 1989's Batman to the up-and-coming Dark Knight movie.

See more funny videos at CollegeHumor

I can tell you right now the '89 trailer is fake. If I'm not mistaken, the real trailer has the Bat-plane/jet/whatever-it's-officially-called flying over Axis chemicals and then shooting bullets and bombing Joker on the streets of Gotham.

Still it's on the amusing side.

Good trailer, Shuyin, although sadly it doesn't have much new footage.

On a side note, according to IGN, the length of the film has been announced. It's going to be 152 minutes long.

Seems long for a super-hero movie, but I almsot always like longer films, so, awesome?

I'm glad it's long. That means the plot will probably be fleshed out instead of becoming a convoluted mess of mindless action.

Holy shit. This is a helluva spoiler. I haven't heard anything about this character. I had no idea they were in the movie. Then again, maybe I'm behind. See for yourself in this new secret clip.

You didn't know he was in it?

Hehe, I guess if you know what his alterego is, it's not such a shock, but there have been campaign posters with his face on it.

Spoiler:
At least ONE of his faces.

I heard his alter ego was in. But I figured they were just setting the next movie's villain up. I didn't think he'd actually be a villain. Interesting.

Awesome.

Man, I'm pretty pumped for this to come out. Hopefully they keep the feel of the first one instead of degrading a little bit (like the other movies did each new movie). I'm sure it'll be fine, though.

I saw the midnight showing, guys.

In my opinion? Easily one of the BEST action movies EVER made. EASILY the best superhero one. I cannot stress this enough.

God, seeing the credits made me so angry because I know I can never see Heath Ledger portray the Joker again.

Amen. You would think with all the hype it would at least fail to meet expectations, somewhat. I was astounded. Heath Ledger's performance was greatness.

I just got back from seeing it, and it is undoubtedly one of the best movies I have EVER seen. Seriously, if a Batman movie better than this is ever made, my head could very well explode. I'm VERY glad I saw it in theaters.

Probably my favorite part was the sheer chaos throughout the whole thing, how Joker's plans went on perfectly, causing several different things that would destroy hundreds of people to happen at once.

Also, Heath Ledger deserves an oscar for this, not because he's dead, but just because he made one of the best villains since Darth Vader.

Alright, I saw the midnight showing of this as well, and have just recently, (about twenty minutes ago) been able to remove my jaw from the floor.

It was as great as everyone here is portraying it to be. It is amazing, greatness, and everything batman should be. They will have a tough time following this one up.

Now the real topic of discussion, Heath Ledger's greatest performance.

The Joker was everything he should be, and just as realistic or believable as batman. Now, there is no doubt in my mind that this will be the first oscar given to a dead actor (maybe, I don't know, I'm making this shit up as I'm typing.) . The script was as compelling as the acting, and the action as well as drama and storyline were infinitely compelling. The truth of the story, the realism (
Spoiler:
Aside from Two Face's...uhhh....face...
) was all present. And the Joker developed his plan from the start of the movie, until the bittersweet end, flawlessly. I felt as if the Joker was truly the mastermind he is made out to be, and not just some goofy nutjob. (Jack Nicholson)

Spoiler:
Actually I loved Two Face's face in this, it looked very similar to the comics/cartoon (that the series seems to take hints from, especially revolving around the Scarecrow in the first one).

Also, it's rather sad Ledger died after this, if he wasn't already gaining popularity with other roles, this would've skyrocketed his career easily. Not to mention Joker clearly not dying ... though I don't think we'll be seeing him again in Nolan's Batman films, there's just no way on Earth anyone could fill Ledger's shoes for such a role. I guess in a way I kind of like how they did that, the Joker lives on for Ledger.

Seriously, I don't know what else I can add. Iron Man was fun, funny, and just all around awesome, but this was just balls to the wall epic. Best movie of the year easily in my book.

I have no idea how they're going to make a follow up to this, with the villians and all, I'm just not sure how it's going to possible. But, Nolan is just ... incredible. If anyone can do it, he can. Personally I only think good possiblities right now would be Catwoman (perhaps) and maybe the Riddler. But I have no idea.

I have no complaints at all. Interestingly enough, Bruce/Batman had probably the smallest role in this one, though I guess it's balanced out since the first one focused heavily on him.
