I remember at Disney I was running in the Tunnels, and my Friend Jake told me I ran like the Terminator.

I outran my dad as well, I even gave him a 10 second head start.

People under estimate how fast I am. Pockets knows, I threw a cigarette while he was chasing me once and it hit him in the forehead. I run a lot. My endurance is pretty up there. And I'm a social smoker, go figure.

I'm not a very fast runner...nor do I have lots of endurance. I'm exercising more now though, so I hope that will change eventually. I need more endurance, I tire too easily.

I did 6 push ups this morning and 20 crunches. That has been the most exercise I've done in awhile. I want to do more to get in shape... but this heat is just so oppressive! Oh well, playing on the Wii helps burn calories too, so I guess I should do that more often. Perhaps I can use that excuse to make my parents get me one.

Pace yourself Elara, but I agree with you on the heat thing. There are so many times I don't want to go to Curves because it's just too hot to step outside.

I'm pacing, don't worry. I was proud about the push-ups though. Venomouslobster was all happy the other day because he could do 8 when two weeks ago he "couldn't even do one". I called him this morning after I did it just to tell him that I, while very much out of shape, did six. He's still in better shape than me though... makes me want to learn to juggle and unicycle even more.

...Okay, just juggling. I can do crunches for the lower body instead of trying something that will most likely kill me.

I'm pretty weak, but thankfully not as weak as I look. I have pretty good lower body strength thanks to my martial arts days, but after I got out of that I started to loose strength because I was too lazy to practice on my own.

Still I have a very fast metabolism so I keep in shape pretty easily. Specially since I can get pretty hyper and be running all over the place sometimes.

Not to mention I only rarely have a sweet tooth lol. Also I walk everywhere since I don't know how to drive and just keep in shape that way. Anyways, it's pretty easy for me to lose weight so I don't really worry about it.

You heard it folks. ;D

Though getting out of holds is really more about flexibility and twisting than strength really.

I don't really do much and I stay a stable weight. Last year I went through a period where all I did was run all the time and I didn't really lose any weight then either. I'm content with my body and get a moderate amount of exercise but I don't push myself to run daily like I used to. I don't try to be healthy, either, that's bullshit.

You're lucky. Generally I would stay a constant 180 pounds if I didn't do a god-damned thing and at crap, but now I'm striving to be a lot less than that so I'm experimenting. Mostly this current work out is kicking my ass.

Yeah, asthma really hinders ones physical movement. You can still do weightlifting and non-cardio workouts, right?

I'm about 180lbs, more like 175. I have a large amount of muscle on my legs and I have ~*~*~*big bones*~*~*~ (srsly I do it's a bitch finding a shirt to accomidate my freaking shoulders) so I'm not sure what percentage is actually fat, but if I lost weight I think it'd look weird as hell cause i'd be this wide flat thing lol.

I think cardio is the best thing you can do though, honest, because it burns fat and builds muscle and stamina. Good luck with whatever you're doing.

Yeah, of course. It's just jogging and cycling (my favourite excercises) that can be a pain in the arse.

I've actually been trying to find a scheduel to exercise. I don't wanna lose weight or anything like that. I'm just happier when I'm active. Exercising just puts me in a better mood. When I do it first thing in the morning, I'm in a good mood all day. When I do it at night (Just simple things and stretches then though) my body winds down and I sleep better. There's medical explanations for all that, but merh. It's summer. I'm in stupid mode, so I don't feel like explaining.

There's this book that I'm looking into though, "The Abs Diet for Women". Usually I think them dieting books are overrated, but my sister saw this one and said that I should read it. I like the approach. It's about being healthy, not fitting society's definition of perfection. It actually spends a good portion of explaining the body, how the exercises work, stuff like that. It talks about the kind of food to eat, not what "not to eat", gives kickass recepies, which I have already messed around with making, gives advice on different exercises...**shrugs** It's just really cool. I don't get the usual superficial air that I usually get from that stuff.

I've been gaining weight though, actually. I used to be 105lbs, never went over, except for that "time of the month", and lately I've been nearing 120lbs. That was the minimum weight for ice hockey, and they always made exceptions for me. Before now, I couldn't go above 115lbs for my life, no matter how hard I tried. But then again, technically I was 15 when I first got my period, and by then I wasn't really playing hockey anymore, and that shit effects a woman's weight. So now, I'm gaining all sorts of muscle and weight along with it. I'm actually pleased with it because physically, I feel really good about myself lately, and I just look better than I used to. So I guess about 120 is my ideal weight. **shrugs** I'm not that tall (Yes, I've finally admitted it) and while I don't consider myself to be tiny, doctors say I wouldn't be considered a medium frame either. It's all about how the body is.

Anywho, as for what kind of exercises? Well, I have a lot of lower body strength. I can't sprint for shit, but I am an excellent endurance runner. I don't run though. I power walk. I do it for like a half hour to an hour at least twice a week, and during the winter I'll prolly just do it once a week, if that since I go ice skating a lot during the winter. Since I was goalie, nonetheless, during my hockey days, I have no problem regaining my leg muscle. I've just been wanting to focus on my upperbody. I'm gaining muscles in my arms, but right now, since I'm just getting them, if I'm not flexing, it doesn't look like muscle...and I have a tummy that I'd like to try and get rid of. Just to see what happens. I've been doing crunches a lot lately. I do four sets of 20 now. I've been doing crunches off and on for months now, so that's why I can do so many now I guess. But, the tummy isn't going away.

I really don't know that much about exercise and what to do and stuff...so any advice would be kickass actually. Crunches haven't been helping my lower tummy...and I can't do a full situp for the life of me.
Siobhan.

i hope this doesn't come across as rude...

AHH DON'T GET RID OF YOUR TUMMY! D: D: D: D:
imo its v. feminine and beautiful and natural and though society today condemns it its worth keeping D:

HOWEVER COMING FROM HEALTH AND FITNESS FAMILY GALORE, I CAN GIVE YOU ADVICE:

if you really really REALLLY want to, my first tip to you is to cut the crunches. the only way to ever get a "flat" tummy is to build no abdominal muscle and remove all fat from that area. this basically means starving yourself and doing daily excessive cardio unless your frame is built that way lolllllllllllll

abdominal muscles naturally have a roundish shape, and doing crunches burns very, VERY little fat. to burn any fat on your tummy, you must do cardio exercise (running, swimming, dancing, wtfever). if you continue doing crunches, the muscle will just build behind the fat in your stomach and your stomach will just look the same. you can try to lose all of the fat and build it all into muscle or just lose some of the fat, but tbh a "flat tummy" is very unrealistic. also remember to take into account your bone structure. i remember points in my life when i was trying to become wayyyyy smaller than was realistic because i did not realize how wide the distance between my hipbones was, how large my ribcage was, etc. etc. i'm what many people consider "fat", i suppose because i'm wide, but the thing is, if you touch most places on my body, you'd expect a layer of fat but it ends up being like hard bone or muscle when you touch it LOL. i guess that has more to do with love handles and stuff, but the abdominal area can always be tricky. you can almost never go by numbers (like weight) when dealing with calculating what to lose, etc. etc.

as for your diet, there is the option of simply cutting calories or going on a food-based diet like you mentioned. my main advice for dieting is to incorperate your own needs into it even if it says you're eating too much or too little by the diet's standards because really ONE diet can not possibly be applicable to every person. different bodies need different amounts and types of nutrients, so try a few things out and try to learn what your body needs or craves on a daily basis or what brings you down if you have or do not have on any given day.

i guess the underlining tip through this all is to learn and know your body, do activities and exercises that are fun or useful. don't put yourself through a ton of crunches, really, i've done it. sitting there doing 600 crunches a day isn't exactly fun, but going on a run/walk/jog with a friend can be. and as for muscle in the arms, a lot of places have gyms and stuff and if you wanted to invest in something like that you could do stuff like rock climbing or swimming . or like...hike a real hill/mountaing/whatnot.

Nah, didn't come across as rude. Teehee. I tend to just talk and go off in many directions. XD I have a bigger ribcage too, so a flat tummy isn't ideal for me. I remember my school nurse poking my tummy in high school and telling me not to turn into one of them bulemic chicks and think there's anything wrong with the tummy. I told her that I wouldn't. When my tummy is completely flat, I look extremely unhealthy.

However, I had some issues for a few years with a cyst and that made my tummy even bigger. So kinda like "baby fat" I guess? I dunno. :p If you gotta starve yourself a little to get it though, then no way. I love food way too much! Haha.
