It is good to see that someone other than me watches the debates. And yeah, I screamed at the television when he said that.

I watched the first one that McCain was trying to get out of so he could "rush to Washington to save the economy."

Here's a rundown of it ala Lois Griffin.

McCain: "Senator Obama doesn't get it. I've ALWAYS been a fan of Ronald Reagan. Obama doesn't have my experience."

Obama: "I never said that, John, and you know it. And that's all going to change when I'm president."

McCain: "Experience. Reagan. Experience. Experience. Obama's wrong no matter what he claims. Experience. Reagan."

Obama: *Names off U.S. military officers in Iraq he "just spoke with"* "And that's all going to change when I'm president."

McCain: "Reagan." *Spooges*

Obama: "And that's all going to change when I'm president."

Moderator: "Whoa, we actually didn't go over on time."

And don't forget McCain's great plan to solve the medicare crisis: get a bunch of smart people together to come up with a plan!

Seriously, most of the stuff McCain said in the debate regarding certain issues was, "I know how to fix that," and then not saying how he was planning on fixing it...

Yeah, um, while we're turning Cyro against McCain, let's point out a couple things...

First off, Obama has hardly been clear about his plans either. I'm still not sure what major "change" he's going to make, other than that we'd no longer have Bush, and we'd have someone with extremely liberal ideas.

As for your quote about nuclear power, yeah, McCain made a bit of a mistake with that line, but if you want to actually know what his and Obama's views are, this is a pretty good article...

http://www.ens-newswire.com/ens/oct2008/2008-10-08-01.asp

It's somewhat biased towards Obama towards the end, but if you can see through the bias there, then you'll get a pretty good and accurate article about their opinions on alternative energy.

Also, I did find it interesting how much Obama simply talked about how he just sent letters to people, whereas McCain went out and talked about how he actually SOLVED the issues. Seriously, did Obama mention one single successful act he had pulled off? Probably, but it was minor, and 99% of what he did involved writing letters.

That said, did anyone else really hate the moderator? Not because he was biased, but because he didn't let any questions like abortion, gun control, gay rights, or immigration be discussed. Those are all very important, and they've always been important. Until this election, I never DIDN'T see them debated.

I have yet to hear either of them talk about their stances on it, other than what's in the other thread I posted.

I'm not being turned against McCain. Just trying to be funny. I'll still probably vote for him.

Gay marriage was discussed in the VP debate last week. Both Biden and Palin said that they are technically against gay "marriage" but they both agreed that there should be no difference between homosexual unions and heterosexual unions as far as civil rights are concerned. Biden was a bit clearer on this saying that what it is called is more of a religious thing than a secular thing, but on a civil standpoint they should be treated exactly the same (visitation rights, property, ect.).

Honestly, that issue was the only time I didn't hate Palin. I mean, she went with the whole "I feel marriage is only between a man and a woman" crap but she did conceed that they deserve equal rights. See, I can respect that... it's the ones that try to deny gays their rights that I am against. I still don't like the woman though, and I do not think that she would make a good president should McCain win and then kick the bucket... I mean, honestly, how can they attack Obama for his lack of experience with her on the ticket?

I have yet to see abortion be discussed at all other than candidate statements on their views, but no talks of legislation or anything like that. I think that mostly it is because the debates started right as Wall Street tanked so now all anyone cares about is the economy... which isn't all bad but they really need to get off of it as well as taxes and the damn war. We've heard their plans on that, I've heard the facts after the debates (which I notice that the republicans get called on more, not to be biased, but it is true), move on to other topics that we need to know about!

I can't make heads or tails about that, though. Why is abortion still being discussed at all?

The right for it is there already. A Supreme Court precedent like that can't just be overturned because a president said so (although Bush and Cheney's urging on several issues might have one believe it could happen).

Or is it the anti-choice people who keep pressing the issue?

Quoted for true awesomeness. Anyway, I'm going to list the major reasons why I support Barack Obama:

1. Pro-choice.
2. Beloved overseas, we NEED allies in globalized world.
3. Willing to play diplomat, we can't take another war right now.
4. Doesn't have disgusting-ly viewed Sarah Palin as VP.
5. Wants to make alternative energy in next 10 years with American jobs.
6. Demonstrated a liking to health care reform. After watching my dad suffer for two years, I'm super pro-healthcare.
7. Has always supported workers, and is taking a very anti-overseas stance.

To look at it in a broad and simple sense: after 8 years of a failure of a Republican government, it wouldn't hurt to try the alternative party again, anyway. Y'know, considering it was a Democrat President that brought in a nice surplus for the US, and a Republican Government that utterly destroyed it.

Try Blue again! What the hey!
