No matter how many times I listen to this band...I am still in serious 'Shock-and-awe'...

This band redefines Heavy Metal to Opera Metal...instead of the usual screaming and headbanging. It uses a girl singing beautifully while metal music is going on in the background. Most of the time you will hear folk-music with pipers and flutes...absolutely stunning!

Theres alot...and I mean ALOT of sampler songs within their Website Take a gander and see what you think...

So what are your outlooks on the band? I say this is by far the most beautiful band of all time...

I was surprised to find that I was very familiar with the song "Planet Hell". So this is the band that made that song!

So anyway, I checked out the website, a bit skeptical. Though I completely disagree with the fact that it's the most 'beautiful band of all time', I will say that this band is certainly very unique and innovative. Some of their songs, I like. Some of their songs are a bit awkward.

A good band...but certainly nowhere near the best, imo.

I downloaded a bit of their songs and I like them. Though I agree with Sparda, I don't think they are the best (That's prolly because I can't choose between music anyways), I also think they are amazing in their own way.

In my opinion, Rhapsody puts this band to shame in terms of "Opera Power Metal".

But that's just my opinion, honestly I just don't really like this band that much.

Meh, well to me it Nightwish sounds georgous...There are very few bands out there that add something to their heavy metal busides the usual screaming...Nightwish delivered to me something different and great...and to this day I enjoy them alot.

Power Metal?...Never heard of that...theyre coming out with more and more types of regular types of music...I cant keep track of them all...so I just base them off of the origional

Well, the Power Metal genre is pretty old. Been around since the early 80's probably. It's mostly European music. I think metalstorm.ee sums it up extremely well:
Power metal in its most stereotypical form is fast-paced, 'epic' and rather optimistic, with high-pitched and sometimes multi-layered vocals, double-bass drumming and an extensive use of keyboards, includic keyboard solos. Power metal bands sometimes use fantasy themes in their lyrics, but despite the common stereotype, most Power metal bands nowdays don't sing about dragons and magical kingdoms, but rather focus on metaphysical themes, personal experiences, mythology, history, philosophy and environment.

Power metal was born in the mid-80's, as a natural extension of the traditional Heavy metal. Early forms of Power metal also include what many called 'Speed' metal. Helloween are regarded by many as the 'fathers' of the genre, though some earlier songs by Dio, Accept and Europe (f.e. Scream Of Anger) can be considered Power metal as well.

Power metal existed mostly in its 'pure' form until the end of the 90's, with bands like Blind Guardian and Stratovarius reigning unchallenged, when the 'second generation' of Power metal rapidly started appearing - Nightwish, Kamelot, Hammerfall, Rhapsody and a great number of other bands, mostly european. That's also when Power metal started mixing with Progressive, Symphonic, Thrash and Death metal, forming interesting and sometimes quite original combinations.

And if you haven't checked out Rhapsody yet, or haven't heard their stuff, I give them a high recommendation. Their vocals style is really different compared to other metal bands, more than half the time you'll think you're listening to an opera, and it blends in perfectly with their fast paced heavy symphonic music.
