Well...These two games were included in Metal gear Solid: Subsitence (sp?)...Thought I'd post it in the classic gaming area due to the fact that seen how its run off of an MSX emulator on the game, its still a classic...

Anyways, I love this game with a passion...I remember playing the nintendo versions (Which had no relation to the actual series whats-so-ever) and beaten them...but the MSX versions are so much better and actually follow the storyline!

Metal Gear started out in "Outer Heaven"...in the nintendo version, Snake parashooted inside a jungle and infiltrated a "Ghetto Outer Heaven"....

In Metal Gear: Solid snake, Snake started out climbing up a mountain...In the Nintendo version...(The game was not directed by Hideo Kojima) Snake was with a FOXHOUND unit with 3 people...I forgot their names...but they werent important...

I find the MSX versions alot more plausable...It actually stuck with the main storyline and had a feel to Metal Gear Solid...

The music was...Wow...I never thought MSX music sounded alot better than SNES music...Metal Gear Solid had alot of upgraded music from its predesessor...Which to me was toatally awesome...

Now if only I can find Gray Fox from within the jail cells...I can move on with this game...

Spoiler:
Holy Crap the AI sucks as well, I diddnt know guards ran around shooting like crazy when you get cought...

Nintendo never saw Metal Gear 2 Solid Snake, Snake's Revenge was a way to cash in on the Metal Gear name (as apparently the NES MG game sold a few copies), but neither NES game were done by Hideo Kojima, to me Snake's Revenge was the biggest slap in the proverbial face of Metal Gear I had ever seen.

Nintendo's version of the first metal gear was directed by Hideo Kojima I thought...I know for a FACT that Hideo had no part in Snake's revenge...

Looks like I have to read the credits again...I know for a fact that on the MSX version, the Credits on the opening themes state it was directed by Hideo Kojima...

According to the Bonus DVD with the new MGS3, Hideo did help the NES version a bit, but I don't think he had full control over it.

Fun fact: There wasn't even a Metal Gear in it! I believe they said a giant computer was the final boss or something (the NES version).

Anyways, I haven't played Metal Gear 2 yet, but I've played a bit of the first. I can honestly say I like it a lot more than the NES counterpart (they're quite different). It just seems ... overall better, in every area.

I'd like to play Snakes Revenge someday though, just to see how bad it hurt the Metal Gear name ...

Snake's revenge was terriable...The metal Gear on that game was uber easy....

And yeah, Hideo Kojima made and produced the Metal Gear games on Subsitence...I looked at the credits....

Yeah, Hideo directed both MSX Metal Gear games, and I think the first NES one.

On the NES version he did the first one, but MG: Solid Snake and Snake's revenge he diddnt do it...I think he was working on Snatcher at the time...(Another great game...Was a mix between a dating simulator with sci-fi action)

Have you noticed on the MSX version that when you pick up ammunition on MGS...You leave an area, the FOXHOUND symbol pops up, loads the next area, and return to the area where you picked up the item...Its there again?

I noticed that glitch and took it into my favor...My save file has max ammo and Rations....

That, and transmissions always come in in the same rooms, again and again. Kind of gets annoying.
