Just a random idea of mine. I want to see where everyone is from

Here's one, looking at the mountians where I'm from.

The peak in the back is Mount McLaughlin. I'll put up pictures later if I can find the ones Kate and I took of it from just on the other side of it at Four Mile lake (My favorite lake, on the backside on the mountain, four miles from the peak. so like, staring straight up at it) She took down photobucket, so I'll have to upload it myself tomorrow.

Anyhow, here's a link to something overlooking my home valley:

http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/37855525/?qo=42&q=medford+oregon&qh=boost%3Apopular+age_sigma%3A24h+age_scale%3A5

Look at the top one first, and here's pictures Kate (Katana) and I took a year and a half ago from the other side

http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o181/gearheadwhat/Fourmile6.jpg
http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o181/gearheadwhat/Fourmile4.jpg
http://i120.photobucket.com/albums/o181/gearheadwhat/Fourmile3.jpg

I live just over this mountain. Next time I'm home on leave, I'll take pictures of it from the valley floor from my family's house

And I'll see if I can't get pictures of my valley from the Manor on the hill by the end of next weekend

This one I found is taken from table rock, at the north end of the valley in central point (closest city in the picture)

http://www.deviantart.com/deviation/17166304/?qo=17&q=medford+oregon&qh=boost%3Apopular+age_sigma%3A24h+age_scale%3A5

Tomorrow night I'll put up some more I took myself, as actual images rather than just links

So show me the landscape/city where you're from

I don't have much to offer right now, but ... I've been meaning to do this for awhile to prove that KS is not just corn and fields!

Well, here's shitty pictures of my city. I took these just before school ended last spring, or maybe just after, I dunno...Xeios was with me that day. I'll get better ones up soon as I find 'em.

Well, I didn't take this... but for now it is far better than anything that I have. I give you Long Beach:

That is the Queen Mary in the foreground (home of Shipwreck), with downtown Long Beach in the background. The big white thing is the Spruce Goose Dome, now owned by Carnival Cruise Lines.

True, I live in South Gate... but I could find no pics of that. I'll get more when I can steal my mom's new camera.

I'll come in with some pictures soon, I live in generally the same area as Elara.

Most of the people in our area, while living in the smaller towns near it, spend A LOT of time in Long Beach. I know I do. I live in Cerritos and I spend most of my week in Long Beach.

There and L.A. and the surrounding areas.

While I won't have as majestic photos as you, Truth and Belial, I'll see what I can bring.

In the meantime, here's my photos from the Dia de los Muertos festivals this last year. In Southern California, as can be expected being land that was once owned by Mexico and originally inhabited by many native peoples, we have a high indigenous population. California, while not having the glorious gothic buildings and colonial setting, has a very rich history of Mexican/Latin American culture. And I LOVE it!
Dia de los Muertos photos

Sorry about the vapor trails in a lot of the pictures.

Last week, I'd gone on a road trip to San Francisco with Zabuza to help him move into his apartment in San Jose. Since, in a few ways, I consider SF another place I'm from here's a couple photos.

All pictures by someone else.

An Aerial view by some person, has their tag on it, but it's fine. I actually quite like it. Although I almost was skeptical at first, never seen Prince Rupert from that view and angle, but I now recognize most things.

Some old man beside City Hall (no, not the building behind him. It's not in the shot)

A port of sorts. We're known for as a fishing town. We're getting a hardcore port, for things shipping in an stuff because of our location. It's going to be big.

Shot of our "crappy" mall. It's basically Sears and Doctor Clinics.

I wish I had more pictures, I'd take them myself, but I do not have a camera. oh wellz.

Hehe, sorry to keep posting. I've found more pictures that are loaded on my Flickr account that I want to put out there. I'm still going to go out there are take some pictures of where I'm from, but here's more for now:

On a side note, I think this thread should be in General or even Art. It's a rather cool idea and more people would see it and post to it there.

grunion001
Every spring through mid-summer, California gets something no other part of the world (except the Sea of Cortez) gets: grunion. On certain nights of the month, these little silvery fish come up at high tide and spawn. The females partially bury themselves and males come up and bukkake all over her while she's laying her eggs.

rotunda angels001
The rotunda at the Los Angeles County Natural History Museum, aside from the L.A. County Museum of Art, I'm constantly at the Natural History Museum.

So many movies are filmed in the rotunda (part of Spider-man, for example). This is just a ceiling shot, but in the center of the room is a statue of these angel-like muses who are holding up the sphered-lamp pictured above.

9-11 memorial002
At a 9-11 memorial service in Long Beach. Seriously, this is typical.

Alpine Village Oktoberfest
I'm throwing this one in there to express our mixed cultures getting excited about other cultures. I took this picture at the Oktoberfest a town over. I just love how all these different women were clambering to put money in the Oompa band members' socks.

More later. Heh, sorry. I know I'm lame, but I'm very excited about this thread.

Here is another picture I found, this one of Los Angeles itself:

Downtown LA, and surrounding suburbs, with the San Gabriel Mountains in the background. This had to have been taken on a nice day, normally the smog hides the mountains more.

**blinks** Holy Shit Elara!

**blinks again** That's freaking amazing! Come to think of it, I've never randomly googled images of city skylines or anything...why? I dunno, considering I've grown to really enjoy city life...but still...

My skyline kicks ass, but...we have no mountain...**pouts**

Yeah, I have to admit I like the mountains in our skyline. It's like an hour drive or so to get up there. The Mojave Desert is on the other side of the mountains, so we really do have multiple climates around here. If only there were more trees.

Here is a few pictures of the Angeles National Forest in the mountains:

Mountainside and forest

A river in the forest.

And now, to make you all giggle, this is what they call the LA River:

Slightly flooded.

Not flooded.

I love that second picture!

I took Jenna (Evo, for those who remember) out swimming in a place that looked like that. Umpqua river area.

I'll see if I can't get my friend to send me the pictures she took of Medford for me so I can show them to people here.

Heheh. LA river eh? Interesting anyhow

The El(elevated train) station that's closest to my house. The picture is going in the direction I take to go to school/downtown. The other way is toward Northeast Philly, but I didn't take a pic of that way.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/KatanaAlasol/Random1.jpg

The smaller building with the dude on top, that's William Penn, well, his statue. The other one behind it? One of my favorite buildings downtown. These pics are also why Philly sports teams lose now. "The Curse of William Penn"...they say that we've sucked at everything for the most part since the buildings became bigger than William Penn, and he couldn't "watch over the city."

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/KatanaAlasol/Random4.jpg

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v237/KatanaAlasol/Random3.jpg

Next time I'll try posting pictures of my city at nighttime.

EDIT: Gah...kept screwing up the links...and...That's not William Penn...that's City Hall...but the yeah...I think I posted William Penn in my other post.
