As she sped down the freeway in an old rust-bucket of a pick-up, Cally occasionally stared over at her ringing cell phone, sitting in the passenger seat, beside her. No telling who could be calling her at that moment. She chose to ignore it, letting the call go to voicemail. She didn't bother personalizing the outgoing message considering all of the people who might be trying to contact her in one of her many guises. The phone beeped to tell her she'd missed a call, and soon after beeped a different tone to inform her of the new message. She sighed. The phone started ringing again. "Oh Jesus tap-dancing Christ!" A Bluetooth headset materialized over her left ear. She pressed the button to answer. "WHAT?!" A slightly timid voice answered, "Callisto? Are you all right?" "Karina?" "Your company was on the news. That paper place you work for. What happened? Are you okay? Who were those people?" "It's okay. I'm not hurt or anything." "Was it terrorists? Why would they attack a paper supplier? Oh my God! They know about you! Someone wanted revenge!!" "No, no, Karina. Shh. Listen. I can't really talk about it right now. This probably isn't a clean line--" Call-waiting beeped. "Karina?" The other woman was sobbing into the phone. "Karina? I gotta go. Don't worry about me. Give Erin my love." "Okay. You take care of yourself." Cally switched lines. "Hello?" she answered cautiously. "You all right, Roxton?" "You don't know me very well, do you, Wilford?" George audibly smirked. "I figured if you went down, it'd be swinging. Just checking up on my partner, like a good partner should." "Yeah, glad you're not dead either. I'll see you in a few." The headset disappeared and she continued barreling down the highway, pleased that traffic was relatively thin for that time of day. It'd been quite a long time since she was briefed on what to do during a Company crisis, and she hoped she could remember how to get to the rendezvous point without needing to call George back for directions. In the meantime, my aunt said last week that she had spoken with a "prophet" who told her that a volcano was going to erupt somewhere on the western part of the country today and California was going to get a tsunami. Since then she's been calling my mom to insist that my grandmother stay over for when this all happens so she'd be safe with us. I'll explain a couple things about my aunt--up until about 10 years ago, she wasn't very spiritual, didn't go to church, none of it. Then suddenly she was all up on meeting people who've experienced stigmata, and people who have Virgin Mary statues that are crying rose oil and blood, and kids who "miraculously" see images in rose petals. For a whole summer, her, my mom, and my grandmother dragged my cousin and me out to the desert on the 13th of every month to take pictures of the sun and listen to this girl "speak in tongues" about receiving a message from the Virgin Mary regarding humanity's impending doom. There are many more stories like this. So now she's claiming that we're all (at least California) is imperiled today. *Looks outside. Ground's not underwater. House and neighborhood intact. Annoying, lesbian neighbor still gossiping with whomever will listen, or at least pretend to.* Oh noes, doesn't look all that safe out there.

| I remember hearing about things like that in this old Pinky & the Brain episode where Brain tried to put together this big TV extravaganza that people would sit through and then everyone would go to the bathroom at the same time, thus clogging the sewage systems around the country and allowing Brain to step in and take over the world.

| Cally eased the truck into a space at the curb a block away from the bar. After driving around for almost an hour looking for the place, she couldn't find the patience within her to park the oversized vehicle in a space she realized was just a tiny bit too small for it.
Irritatedly rubbing her forehead, she climbed out of the '72 Chevy C-20 and slammed the door behind her. Had she decided to make a Porsche or even a Lambo, it probably would have fit, but fast cars often drew trouble and suspicion from police. Didn't matter. She didn't care if the stupid heap got towed. She walked away with the truck's bed hanging out into the street. "Hey!!" Cally kept walking. "HEY!!" A drunk who'd wandered down from the bar, gesticulating left and right about something Cally couldn't care less about, stumbled toward her. "I don't have any change." "No, bitch. You blocked me in!" She sighed. "What?" "With your goddamn truck!" "What truck?" "That piece of shit right ther--" He stopped suddenly, finding himself pointing at an empty parking space, stumbling forward a little in shock, but mostly from all of the beer he'd had to drink. "Hey. Someone stole it." Cally pushed him back as he nearly fell onto her. He absolutely reeked of booze. "Sir, were you planning on driving out of here in your current condition?" "Hey, you shut your fucking trap, you useless cun--" Shame he never got to finish his genius remark, but Cally's boot to his cheek rather rudely interrupted his thought. The drunk hit the ground. The few times he angrily tried to get up, he found himself knocked down again with Cally insisting that he stay there. Eventually he was out cold. When he would awaken an hour later, he'd find himself handcuffed to the chain-link fence along the sidewalk next to his car. "Dry up, lush," she exclaimed as she left him there. Once again she made her way to the bar, beyond annoyed with herself for being so late. |

| Just got word from my aunt--the "prophet" and his disciples fled to Utah. Supposedly claiming they'd be safe from those tsunamis were going to get Wednesday (which by the way never came).
Seems fishy. EDIT: FUCK!! I'm getting tired of this bullshit trying to transfer into a university. Why the hell do they need my high school AP test scores when I already have those classes taken in college?! Fifteen FUCKING dollars just to send these things to EACH college?! I've reached yet another revolting level of boredom and this keeps floating around a few blogs.

Choose ten characters from different fandoms. 1. Basch fon Ronsenberg (FFXII) 2. Noah Bennet (Heroes) 3. Callisto (Xena) 4. Leonidas (300) 5. Rogue (X-Men) 6. Landlady (Kung Fu Hustle) 7. L (Death Note) 8. Doc Holiday (Tombstone) 9. Maeve (Adventures of Sinbad) 10. Warren Peace (Sky High) 1. If 10 was of the opposite gender, who from the list would he or she date? - Warren would probably go lesbian for Callisto, the brooding lost-her-family-to-her-fandom's-heroine villain out of identifying with her. Granted she'd be much older than girl Warren, but I'm sure he'd be flexible. Maybe after her Warren'd continue going lesbian for Maeve since she also throws fireballs. 2. If 7 and 3 went to see a movie together who would pay, and what snacks would each want? - H'oh boy. Callisto probably would get stuck paying, but she'd probably make sure L pays for all of the sweets he wants at the concession stand. Callisto would probably just have a medium diet soda while L would buy the place out of all of its candy. 3. If 8 was your parent what would he/she leave you as a family heirloom? - Probably his guns and several decks of cards. Maybe a dental chair, who knows? If anything I'd stand to catch his Tuberculosis. 4. Describe a pair of socks 1 wears on a regular basis. - Seriously I don't think Basch wears any kind of socks. He spent his time running all over Ivalice in boots that were pretty much sandals. If he wears socks now, they're soft and plushie and make him think longingly of Ashe. 5. If 2 and 4 got into an argument what would it be about? How would they settle it? - Chances would be that Leonidas and Bennet would get along just fine once you get past their cultural differences. Both would fight to the death for their families and would probably respect each other for it. 6. If you could change any one thing about 6, what would it be? - I wouldn't change a thing about her, she's awesome the way she is. I want to be her. 7. If 5 and 9 got stuck in an elevator together with nothing but a deck of cards, bag of pretzels, and sandwich for 2+ hours, how would they pass the time, which one of them brought each item on the elevator, and what would 10 say/think while watching the surveillance video? - Rogue and Maeve would probably teach each other about the other's powers, eventually having Maeve teach Rogue how to make fireballs. Now between them, Rogue would be the more likely to bring the deck of cards, probably as a force of habit from Gambit. The food could come from either of them and whoever brought it would most likely share. And if Warren were watching the tape, he'd probably sit there bored, half-hoping they start making out or something not realizing Rogue's parasitic powers, but he'd be intrigued watching them use fire. 8. Would 7 risk his/her life for 4? - Doubtful. While L's been known to put his own life on the line in order to solve a case, I'm sure he'd be confident that Leonidas can take care of himself. 9. How would 6 act when drunk, what's their drink of choice, and would 10 make sure nothing happens to the intoxicated 6? - Were the landlady to actually drink to excess, she'd probably just be bitchier about everyone around her. She'd probably be able to take care of herself without Warren coming in to help her. Ironically Warren speaks Chinese, so him hanging around her would be all too perfect. 10. If you dropped by 3's home unexpectedly what would it look like? - Ultra-simplistic. She's got this consistent vendetta going in her head and all she really needs is a sword and a place to lay her head at night. There'd probably be a lot of exercise equipment, a punching bag hanging in the living room, and plenty of sharp objects. 11. What will 2 do after their goals are accomplished? - Retire to a nice place with his family and live a normal life as "just a paper salesman."
12. 1 loses their memory(how did it happen?), and 8 has to take care of him/her. 8 has always had a crush on 1, and 1 ends up falling for 8 while being cared for. 8 knows 1 is with 5, and that the two are engaged to be married when 5 returns to the country. What happens when 5 returns? - Very Brokeback Mountain. Basch could possibly lose his memory by Bennet sending the Haitian to take care of that for him. I really don't know what to say to this question considering the random instances of homosexuality between two people I could never really see meeting. Rogue would probably find this all amusing and move on like she always does with boyfriends (seriously, girlfriend can't touch people without doing a slight bit of damage and yet she's had more beaus than any of the X-women combined). 13. 7 sees a stranger getting mugged, does he/she continue walking or help in some way? - L would probably keep walking unless the crime were part of a deeper mystery that he was trying to solve. 14. 6 and 4 sing a duet, which song do they perform? - The Ultimate Showdown of Ultimate Destiny? Not sure. Maybe "It's Raining Men." 15. If 9 were an animal what would he/she be? - Probably a red-tailed hawk right along with Dermott. 16. 3 knows 1 and 9 like each other, even if they won't admit it. 3 enlists the help of 8 to set them up. What are their plans, and do 1 and 9 fall for it? Are the plans successful in getting the two to realize their feeling? - Considering the fact that Basch's relationship with Ashe and Maeve's with Sinbad are all really hazy, it could be possible that they'd be interested in one another. Callisto, not being much of a romantic herself, would probably have Doc con Basch into getting a room with Maeve or something. Not sure if it would work considering how mixed this group sort of is. 17. 2, in a rush to start his/her first day of work, accidentally spills her coffee on 5 while leaving the crowded shop. 2 quickly apologizes, offers to pay the dry cleaning bill, and leaves. 5 turns out to be 2's new boss. What is their first conversation in the office? - Hahahaha! Truth be told Rogue probably could be Bennet's boss. Rogue's not one to hold grudges and she would probably like Bennet right away.
