| From what I heard it was the NBC affiliates that started all this, not Leno... he just went along with it. The show wasn't getting the ratings, the affiliates were losing money, they demand the changes and chaos ensues. NBC is a moron, they should never have agreed to it.
But yes, back in 1992 there was a war between Leno and Letterman over who would succeed Johnny Carson as the Tonight Show's host... there is apparently a movie about it. But yeah, that was the last Late Night war. Now don't get me wrong, I actually like Leno. I think he's very funny. However, I also like Conan and while some of his bits do get on my nerves I really think he's been given the shaft here and that is just wrong. Also, I agree, Conan does seem way more approachable than Leno, but I am sure it's not easy to get near either of them. |

Seriously though, while I don't know if it will get that bad, he does make a very good point: who is going to stop them? This is probably, by far, the dumbest decision I have ever heard come out of the Supreme Court. It's like all the things I made up for my novel are coming true year by year, and I do not like it. |

| So, the speech was last week, I assume that you've all had the chance to at least see it online by now. I want to know what your thoughts are.
I liked a lot of what he had to say, though I wish he'd been more blunt in his criticism of Congress' behavior. But at least he had the guts to criticize them at all, and that is something. I also really like his plan for financial aid, as there is a good chance I might have to finally break down and get a loan once I start grad school, but hopefully not. |

Fuck CSULB Financial Aid. They didn't bother to tell me that if I had less than 6 units they rape my financial aid, by the time I find out and I try to add one more class everything is either full or on days that I can't take them. So my nearly $3K in grant money got cut to $400... because apparently rent, gas, and food don't factor into grant money (even when they are supposed to) unless you have 6+ units. |
