| Finally saw Ichi the Killer after I've heard so many rave reviews for it over the years.
Yeah, I don't see why it's so amazing. I mean, the violence is kinda intense, but it's that exaggerated Japanese action movie torture stuff. Think Kill Bill and Machine Girl with how blood shoots out of cuts like the unfortunate sap who got killed had a blood pressure of 500/240. The story was a bit confusing, which sorta fits with Takashi Miike's style, I guess. |

| Saw it in IMAX 3D with some friends last night.
I wasn't a big fan of the first one. In fact, I don't even remember exactly how it ended. I'd seen it a few times when I was a kid, and then a couple times as an adult, but I only really remember like the lightcycle battle and then them escaping that in some way. Anyway, I liked Tron Legacy. My boyfriend and I laughed so hard on all the Dude-isms Jeff Bridges would randomly say. It was to the point that Brandon and I would quote The Big Lebowski back and forth corresponding with different scenes. I loved Olivia Wilde in this too. She's so cute and her character made me snicker a lot. The effects are really cool. The only thing was to make Jeff Bridges look younger they CG'd his face and it kinda got distracting from time to time. You can see what I'm talking about in the trailer below. I mean, it's completely understandable. How else were they going to get a young looking Dude. But like I said, I just kept getting distracted by it. | So I saw Tron Legacy last week, but I saw True Grit more recently.
Honestly, it's hard to pick which is better because both were quite good. But to speak more on True Grit, if the Dude lived in the 1800s I could easily see him being Rooster Cogburn sleeping in a sunken in bed behind a Chinese grocery. Great movie. If Hailee Steinfeld doesn't win anything for her performance as Mattie I will be severely disappointed. |

| Thank you, Brandon's grandma, for being so fucking awesome. The CSU raised our fees 5% and demanded payment the day the fees showed up on our accounts. For some reason CSUF does NOT accept Visa credit cards or check cards with Visa's logo on it (what I have... FUCK!), and she paid off my fee with her Master Card. When I offered to pay her back in cash right away she just waved me off saying it was an early graduation present.

Back from Arizona. Great trip. Hiked in the snow to Native American ruins, toured caverns, walked around Tombstone while it was lightly snowing, and drove out to the middle of the desert to watch a meteor shower.

I'm doing a convention next weekend with Stitch and other friends. Then the weekend after is another road trip to see Brandon's dad before I have to start classes and my internship. My final grades have finally posted for the semester. I worked my ass off writing papers and studying and came out with three As and two Bs. Woot.

Read those 7 volumes of "Transmetropolitan" finally. Need to get the 8th one at the library and send away for the other two after that since it seems the library only goes to 8.

Overall I like it. I really disliked Spider in the beginning, but I've grown to like him. Especially when he talks to children. While he can be really arrogant and self-centered, he really gives a shit about what's right and he's so sweet with kids. Reading "On Stranger Tides" still. I never had the time to finish it.

I've kinda reached the point of my life where I totally get it. I'm a couple classes from graduating and I'm realizing going out and doing a bunch of random jobs would lend more to the learning experience that is real life. |

Here's some new things from 2010 and a few done in the new year. 2010: - Got hired for an internship - Had an article reposted by bloggers from all over including Boing Boing - Ate jerk chicken and other kinds of Caribbean food - Had lunch at Tortilla Flat, Arizona where we sat in saddles affixed to barstools - Went to Pueblo Grande Archaeological Park - Went to the Capitol Museum in Phoenix - touched a piece of the USS Arizona's hull - Watched the sunset from on top of Hole-in-the-Rock - Went to the Phoenix Art Museum - Ate a Cornish pasty from a place that does them right - Went on a roadtrip with dogs (Brandon's mom's two 6-month-old pitbulls) - Hiked a new section of Sedona's Red Rock Country - Hiked by Oak Creek and found the ruins of an old house - Ate chicken fried steak at a place on Route 66 on Thanksgiving day - Saw a dormant volcano in Arizona - saw the Painted Desert in the fading, golden light of sunset - Ate Native American fry bread topped with green chili beef and cheese - Went to a bar in Fontana - Voidcrush was performing there - Made the perfect ham sandwich - Made potato cheddar soup - Ate a snakedog and blueberry pie at this place we eat at while hiking - Ate bread pudding with bourbon glaze - a friend's "birthday cake" - Had lunch at this new place in Orange - had a ham sandwich with a folded over waffle as bread - Roasted marshmallows in the fireplace and made smores - Walked the Las Vegas strip, just my cousin and me - Walked the entire length of the new Hoover Dam Bypass twice, with my mom - Went to a funeral out-of-state - Ate at this semi-pricey French restaurant in L.A. - Met Pat's girlfriend - Ate Filipino food from the White Rabbit truck - had a pork sisig burrito, lumpia, and red velvet flan - Had date shakes from a place in Indio - Ate dinner in Wickenburg, Arizona - saw the Jail Tree (they didn't have a jail, so they just chained outlaws to this tree) - Ate a beef and Guinness pie in pub that was built in Ireland in the 1800s and shipped to Tempe, Arizona - Toured a cave and the caverns within - Was in Tombstone while it lightly snowed - went into Wyatt Earp's house and finally went into Boot Hill cemetery 2011: - Spent first New Year's in Arizona - hiked South Mountain and saw the sunset from the peak - Drove an unpaved muddy road, snowy road in Sedona, that we kept sliding on to get to some Native American ruins - Hiked to two different ruins sites in the snow - went through a forest of icicles, hiked under a small waterfall - Saw petroglyphs and pictographs - Ate a pizza place in Flagstaff, got coffee at another place - Read the first seven books of "Transmetropolitan" - Walked to the old mill in Tempe - Drove out to the middle of the desert to watch the Quadrantids meteor shower - Ate a damiana and lemon lollipop - Went to the western museum in Wickenburg - saw Wyatt Earp's gun among other things - Had hot apple crisp with mud ice cream and the great burgers in Arizona (Avi's Screamer's Drive-in) - Had a glass of cider at this new pub in Long Beach - Went to Blue Cafe's new location - Had lunch at a different place in San Pedro - Saw lion nudibranchs (Last edited by Rogue on 01-07-11 01:01 PM)
