| Saw Olympus Has Fallen, and totally agree with Katana on that one. Though I would add that every time we were like, "But that wouldn't happen in real life...," it was followed by, "...wait... there are people that stupid... nevermind, it's plausible."
Then saw Jurassic Park in IMAX 3D... it was great. Did it hold up 100% in the format? Not really... the animatronics were a bit more obvious with things like the triceratops or the raptors... but it was still awesome. And the T-Rex still owns that screen! Those glasses make my head hurt like a bitch, though. |

| I've been quoting that one for years.
I believe the current cases, at least the one against DOMA, are talking about equal protection under the law as provided by the Fifth Amendment. Their states allow their marriages as well as straight marriages... yet Federal law only recognizes the straight ones... that is a violation of their constitutional rights. The basis of the California case, aside from Loving v Virginia and common sense, is that a right once given cannot be taken away. |

That said... the people trying to politicize this sicken me. And the people who jump to conclusions make me want to kick them in the face. This is going to be rather difficult to figure out I think, as there were SO many potential reasons and targets that figuring out which one it was is going to take awhile. I mean, it was a holiday in the city... could be the city was the target. It was tax day, could be a disgruntled citizen. The Marathon is an international event, could be one of the other countries' runners was a target (and then it could be another nation or an American doing the targeting). Could be a sociopath just out to kill people. So many potential targets and motives. |

As to that other thing... It isn't sympathy to want to proceed in a logical fashion, to want facts, and to be concerned with the legality of the actions taken by law enforcement during this manhunt. Naturalized or not, this kid was an American citizen and we should all be concerned with how our law enforcement treats it's citizens. This is still America, and he is still innocent until proven guilty no matter how much evidence is publicly stacked against him beforehand. Of course, I am not a mindless sheep of a person, consumed by bloodlust and racist/nationalist idiocy... but I am not alone in my opinions. On the Miranda rights... I have only just heard of this, so I also don't know what to believe. |

It's... well... it's sad that we cannot avoid this in our modern age of easily accessible birth control because parents don't want to teach their kids to avoid the mistakes they made. And shit like "Teen Mom" and "16 and Pregnant" are NOT helping because it is glamorizing it. Then girls think, "Oh, if I get pregnant I can just try to get on a reality show." ... | Sorcha, I think you actually did a lot of good just by talking to her about it and letting her know she wasn't alone.
I know there are a lot of groups that help Vets with PTSD, like the Wounded Warrior program... maybe you could advocate that they reach out to the people affected by the bombings to help with things like counseling services? Participating in the runs is great as well, but I think it would be nice if more could be done. All I have been able to do so far is try to stem the tide of ignorance in our next generation. All they hear is "Muslim" and they just started making the most offensive comments possible. Teaching hatred only perpetuates the violence and they just don't get that.
