Hell, tell us what was the best and worst concert, play, musical, computer/video game you bought, whatever the fuck you did/saw/heard this year that you either really fuckin' hated or loved to the fuckin' grave. Just a handful of my picks: Best Director: Stephen Chow 
OK, sure, Gong Fu technically was made in 2004, but it had a breakthough 2005 American release and not to mention he was a REALLY good sport about the travesty of an American release Miramax did to Shaolin Soccer. I had a lot of really cool celebrity experiences this year, but this one was pretty fuckin' sweet and marking (I can't even remember how many times) another meeting, and hugging, of Kevin Smith, but my first time meeting Jason Lee. I need to see the 10th Anniversay DVD to see if I'm on there. If so, I probably look really stupid and lame. 
WORST MOVIE: War of the Worlds 
I seriously don't see how anyone can thoroughly enjoy this movie. It has too many holes to be satisying and ends too flippin' quickly with explanations you'd have to be suffering from cranial rectitis to accept. OK, if you liked it, all the bacteria, viruses, germs, etc bullshit aside ... explain to me how the son is just magically not injured or anything when they run into him again at the end. Hmm? Movie magic? Not even missing an eye, limb or anything. Maybe it's time to retire, Spielberg? Worst song/music video: When September Ends 
OK, seriously now. This song and its music video were just in poor taste. I know I specialize in telling sarcastic jokes that tend to be in poor taste, but this was just tacky. The music video goes like this: Boy and girl have cheesy conversation about him and her having someone to always love them and so on. It's just bad. Then it's a montage of scenes of them doing all those cute little, teenaged couple things meant to make you go, "Awww... that reminds me of me and so-and-so blah blah back in the day." Then the song cuts out and it's the girl crying and pissed off and slapping the boyfriend for something he did... What did he do? Cheat on her? Kill her mother? No. He joined the army. And goes to Iraq. Cue the tank and other stereotypical war scene item we'll need to further our (Green Day's) bleeding heart as-a-famous-band-we-know-everything-there-is-to-know-about-the-world-lister-to-us-kids mission to shit on everything because they're "punk rock." Everywhere I turn people are still arguing about "the wrongful execution" of Tookie Williams.

OK, for those of you in the dark, Tookie Williams calls himself the founder of the Crips (though it's been proven by several founders that he didn't really found them, and even they want him dead) and killed 4 people in cold blood (one 7-Eleven clerk and a family, a 30 or 40-something-year-old woman and her parents, in their motel room after he busted down the door for no reason and blew them away at point blank with his shotgun). Upon his conviction, he threatened to kill all of the members of the jury, and has since been serving time in prison, up until his execution last week. Liberals and others had been crying for his freedom since a month 'til the execution date. Do you REALLY want this guy free? Why not Charlie Manson then? Hmm? So he wrote a few children's books... that doesn't take away from what he did. He didn't show clemency to his victims. And people are still whining about the situation. No gang uprisings happened. No riots. Nothing that people were threatening would happen if he was killed. I wasn't too thrilled with getting a class ring either, and my mom was telling me she'd like me to get one.

First off, $500 for a ring that isn't an engagement or wedding ring is insane. I suppose they're good if you're in an exclusive school like Harvey Mudd, Harvard, or whatever or you just won the Super Bowl, but I'm just not into them. For my mom, I looked through the designs, but most of them just looked really tacky or gawdy, like the only people who it'd be acceptable to see wearing them would be rap stars with gold-plated teeth. Anyway, they didn't have designs for any of the things I was really into in high school--no symbol for the school newspaper, no symbol for the theater department, and no symbol for the environmental club. They had random unicorns, lamps with flames coming out, etc, but nothing really tying to me. Everytime my mom asked me about getting one, I just pretended I forgot to look though the catalog and tabulate the price.

Picky picky picky... What do we still have? She is Muslim. Her faith states that smidgen of a quote you seem to be neglecting. How is she dressed? Well... how is she dressed? Acceptable? I personally don't care. If she wanted to run around naked, that's her affair, not mine. Incidentally, Muslims are very tight-knit and fraternal, even for such large numbers.
