| Latest reports indicate that it was shot down, they just can't determine if it was Russia or Ukraine (or unofficial Russian forces in Ukraine posing as separatists). Hold on to your hats, folks, this could get ugly.
It totally sucks for the people on the flight and their families... and it really sucks for Malaysian Airlines. Poor company just can't catch a break, now can they? |

| Wow... that is just sad.
So because I am running an adventure set in the area, I have set down the other books I am reading to read The Crusader Road. So far it is interesting... an exiled noble family from Ustalav (think Transylvania but with more snooty European nobility) has come to the Echo Woods in the River Kingdoms (Strange, fey-filled woods in a land of almost complete lawlessness). The perspectives so far are Tyranna Vishov, the matron of the family who is using her experience in court intrigues to navigate politics of the area and her son Jared, a budding wizard with absolutely no confidence because he's spent his whole life in his late warrior father's shadow. |

| The more I listen to the news on this, the more the little conspiracy theory portion of my brain is pushing the idea that all of this was really the actions of Russia... use the fake Ukrainian rebel members (i.e. the totally obvious Russian soldiers in plain clothes) to do all this, make it look like the rebels are uncontrollable until the rest of the world practically invites Russia to invade Crimea and take over the region to bring stability.
But it's too crazy to be true... right? |

| Fuck you, oral surgeon who fucked over my friend, Ann. First off, who makes a woman with a cracked tooth that is in excruciating pain wait a WEEK for an "emergency" appointment? Then your receptionist tells her 11am, and when she shows up on time, is told that the appointment was at 8:25am... I call double bullshit...
1) Ann was in the army, punctuality was drilled into her. And she isn't a morning person... if she had been told 8:25 she would have had like five alarms set. 2) No reminder call the day before. You know, like every doctor office in the country does. Hell, my chiropractor calls and emails, and would text as well if they could. 3) Receptionist said she called when the appointment was missed. There is no record of the call on the caller ID and the phone never rang. Just saying. So they make her wait another TWO days and drive up to another office for her "emergency" appointment. Note she is having to use her sick and personal time at work for all of this, which isn't full pay... so now she is stressing about making the mortgage payment because she has to miss work. The day of the appointment comes. She gets there, is waiting to go in... and then is told she has to wait longer because they just brought in an emergency case. Fuck them. Who treats a patient that way? Seriously?! |

| Well, the last movie I watched at all was Desolation of Smaug so I was fairly pleased and entertained by it.
