Seriously just waiting for the current crew to end up in present day San Francisco trying to save a couple of humpback whales, so they can communicate with a mysterious probe that's ionizing Earth's atmosphere.
Do they have to re-imagine the epics? I can't stand Abrams. |

I'm not surprised that he jumped on Star Wars, frankly. In a lot of the commentary to the 2009 movie he kept complaining about the pacing of the original material, saying he preferred the pacing in Star Wars. No shock that SOOOO MUCH of it ends up paralleling SW, shot for shot. He even encouraged Chris Pine to try to be more like Han Solo than Captain Kirk.
Anyway, I ended up reading the plot to the new one. Like I said, I don't care about spoilers with this one. I'm still going to see it, but I'm puzzled by a lot of the plot points. Why couldn't they just be fighting Klingons or something that hasn't already been explored in film like Trelane? Also, a lot of people keep complaining about how Dr. Marcus is inexplicably in her underwear and how the movie doesn't pass the Bechdel Test. |

A 78-year-old French historian shot himself in the head beside the altar in Notre Dame in protest against gay marriage.
Not to disrespect the dead (though this will CERTAINLY be disrespectful), that is THE STUPIDEST reason to kill one's self I've heard in a long time. |

Abrams has been flashing this clip around of Cumberpatch in the shower to get them to calm their tits about Carol Marcus in her underwear: Him on Conan
I haven't seen the movie, but it sounds like a repeat of how Uhura was down to her underwear in the first movie, while changing (and Kirk happened to be in the room). That clip was exploited to hell for the trailer's benefit too. Not to get too picky here, but he acts like a man without a shirt on (which can be seen in about half the movies out there) is equal to a full body shot of an undressed woman. Equal would be seeing Cumberpatch or Kirk in a Speedo. (Last edited by Rogue on 05-23-13 11:43 AM) |

They're 3D-printing skin and ears. It's only a matter of time that more vital organs can be made so you don't have to contend with finding a donor.
More of a threat than 3D-printed guns, when it comes to having an untraceable firearm that anyone can access and own without paperwork, background checks, serial numbers, and so on, there are legal gun-building parties for kits. No paperwork, names, processing, background checks or serial numbers necessary: Source |

Does he get it on with Carol Marcus at all? Is there going to be a little David in this AU after all?
The question is, if she did have David would Pine's Kirk try to actually be a father insisting to do his part despite Carol's demands that she's independent and can do it all alone? Probably not. |

George R.R. Martin posted that he's just submitted his manuscript for a book of collective stories about ROGUES. Mwahahahahahaha!!
And look at the list of contributing authors, for crying out loud! Garth Nix, Scott Lynch, Daniel Abraham, Michael Swanwick, NEIL FUCKING GAIMAN. Martin's own piece, which is the intro is called "Everybody Loves a Rogue." ![]() It probably won't come out 'til 2014, but I'll wait. I'll wait. *Rubs hands together fiendishly* |

I was so sleep-deprived this weekend I felt hungover Sunday night.
There was a lot of fuckery involving not getting to sleep this Memorial Day weekend. Friend flew in on Friday night, we had dinner around midnight. The next day was spent taking her around L.A., among which was seeing a man who can stick his finger in his mouth and out his empty eye socket. Anyway, lots of walking. Brandon's band had a gig at 11 p.m., and I still had to bake slutty brownies for the con ops pot-luck picnic the next day. So Katie and I baked them at 2 in the morning, pulling them out of the oven around 3. Woke up around 6 to make breakfast, and rush over to the old zoo ruins to stake out a few tables for the picnic. Did a bit of hiking and hung out and talked with people. After being in the park for several hours went home and took a nap. Came to an hour later to eat dinner with Stitch and Katie and ended up feeling like I was hungover (despite not having alcohol in my system). I just kept feeling dizzy and nauseous. Better now that I've slept. (Last edited by Rogue on 06-10-13 12:22 PM) |

Discovered yesterday we were getting free HBO and Epix on-demand (but only for yesterday), so I just kept watching movies up until midnight when the deal kicked out and it said I needed a subscription to continue.
I watched Magic Mike, Moonrise Kingdom, Election (which now I feel like I've wasted time watching since I'd already seen it many times, but years ago), and most of Young Adult. Obviously, Moonrise Kingdom was the best, but Magic Mike wasn't that far off (and I don't say that simply for the male strippers). MM was like watching The Wrestler with it being about pretty much being a piece of meat for others' entertainment and having to piece the rest of your life together. |

Fuck riding with Brandon to work so I could hang around the library for a while and drive home (to pick him up later), and when I got in the car to leave discovered it was out of gas.
Fuck getting out my phone to call for help and discovering the battery was dead. Fuck walking back into the library to ask for change for a dollar to use a payphone and having to wait 15 minutes while the librarian tried to call her boss at home to see if it's OK to make change. Fuck having to walk around to find a working payphone since most have been removed these days. Fuck having to repeatedly dial/insert-change/count-the-rings-on-the-other-end-before-the-voicemail-would-pick-up-because-I'm-on-a-phone-that-can't-receive-calls-and-want-the-50-cents-refunded-if-I-can't-connect-with-anyone/hang-up/dial-again-'til-someone-answers-or-otherwise-repeat-the-process. Fuck having issues with uploading photos using both Google Chrome and Firefox and having to use Internet Explorer, because SHOCKINGLY, I tend to not have issues with it. Ugh.. first world problems. Sorry to hear that. I have noisy asshole neighbors too.
Going through Facebook drama at the moment. In an effort to be productive, I finally started going through and editing thousands upon thousands of photos from the last couple years. I posted a photo of Brandon's aunt with her newborn baby. She's not wearing a shirt, but she's covered up. It's a beautiful picture, to be honest. I edit it, post it, and the occasional person hits the "like" button. She posts an angry comment (I assume so since a lot of it is in caps) telling me to delete it. I do without question, though it would probably have just been better if she untagged herself. Still, if she wanted it deleted, it's gone. A few minutes later I get a frantic call from Brandon, who's at work, that his aunt called to say that he should demand that I delete it. I tell him I did. A minute later, Brandon's mom (who lives in Arizona) calls to tell me that Michelle called to tell her that I posted this inappropriate pic of her and that she should also urge me to delete it. What the hell? Bitches be crazy. |

Originally posted by Elara They didn't have a phone for people to use and I didn't want to press the subject. I mean, after the 15 MINUTES it took just to get their boss on the phone to say it was OK to open the register and exchange my dollar, on reflection, I figure asking to use their phone would make their hearts explode from the stress of the request. Just to continue my fuck Facebook theme for the night, I hate that they keep re-arranging my photos. Why are they in reverse order suddenly yet still putting new uploads at the end? The fuck, Zuckerbastard? |

Originally posted by Elara You said it, not me. ![]() I just finished reading Perfume: The Story of a Murderer and started watching the movie last night. I only made it through the first 20 minutes before I went to bed, but it was pretty decent. Like most movies based on books it's left out chunks of story and embellished in other places to make up for the things that don't quite translate to the screen. Since Brandon's watching it with me, and he's going to work soon, probably won't get to watch the rest until tonight. |
