| My ex pretty much killed all fun in wedding planning and made it so stressful that I just gave up and acquiesced to his demands (court house, no real reception, no cake... use all the money for honeymoon cruise). Planning the cruise was fun at least... once he got over the fact that Alaska was just too expensive that time of year.
I am still kinda upset about it and how much money my parents spent on it. His parents paid for a comparative fraction. ... but yeah... in other news... planning a big move is no fun either. Especially when cost and logistics have you crawling into the fetal position. |

I'm not sure how to gauge what is happening right now. Some of the people that voted for him seem to be waking up the the fact that they got duped. Some are angry, and some are just doubling down on backing him. The circus is a scary place. Meanwhile, the Democrats seem to not know how to regroup and push back. The hard left is not really much better than the hard right some days, and it seems to be driving a wedge between the progressive and moderate wings of the party. Could we finally be seeing the breaking points of both major parties? |

I'm not super upset about not having a big ass cake... but he was fixated on it. My mom wanted a little cake for the family dinner we did have... not a wedding cake, just a cake. He flipped his shit over it. He doesn't like cake, so no one can have cake.

My mom did cake anyway, because I am 99% sure that she could hear in my voice that I actually did like the idea of cake. It was a super yummy chocolate and chocolate fudge cake that the restaurant did as one of their desserts. Everyone but him loved it. I heard about it for a fucking month afterwards. I mean... dude... seriously, it's a dessert. Is "Groomzilla" a thing? Sucks about the coworkers... that is not something you want to have to deal with. Like, at all. I myself am looking forward to going to Fight Night at the local theme park. It isn't anywhere near as good as Knott's Scary Farm or Dark Harbor... but it's mazes and rides, and watching people running like scared little mice from a guy with a fake chainsaw... and it makes me happy. I only got to go once two years ago with Kaleb and a few other friends, and it made me feel more like my old self than I had in years.

The leaves turning color, colder weather... but before snowfall. And moving. It's stressful as hell... but it is the shining beacon of finally getting to come home that keeps me going. Yes, cost of living is higher, yes rent is insane... but food is cheaper, there are more things to actually do, more opportunities to get a better job so I am not wasting away in retail until I either die or stab someone. That is the big one.

My friend just sent me a message about how she ended up spending $20 on Halloween decor at Michael's... I find it funny because the other day she was saying how she was going to go, but leave her wallet in the car because she would be able to resist the urge to buy stuff then... so much for that strategy.

Starting the transfer process for work. Picked up boxes to start some packing... gonna need to get boxes with handles for books, though. I've learned THAT lesson. Found a good solution for getting the second car to California (yay!) And.... it's almost October! Halloween mode is already activated!

I know at least one through a LARP group, though we aren't super close since he is on the other side of the country... I know it took him years to officially start transitioning FtM, but it is a very supportive group so it has been a big help. Hopefully you can surround yourself with your own group that can provide the same for you.

I really hope that it does not come to that, but I know that a lof of us in the States are seriously worried that it may in fact happen. We just need someone to follow both of them around and wave something shiny in front of them as a distraction every time they start going at each other.

I hate attractions where they rely on such lame means for scares. From what I read, it sounds like last year was done better. Personally, I prefer the no-touch scare attractions because they actually have to work for it.

We ended up going to Fright Night at Kennywood last weekend, since it was the only day we both had off. It was opening night, so that was kinda cool... though I prefer to go in the second or third week of a run when the monsters have really hit their groove but aren't burnt out yet. But it was a good event, got to laugh at a ton of teens running around like crazy and saw one college age guy perform the classic virgin sacrifice of his girlfriend at least twice. So good times. The one thing they do at Fright Night that was interesting yet a tad annoying in execution is that the first monster you see in every maze is your "ally" and goes over the basic rules... emphasizing "Do not touch them, they will not touch you." As a former monster, I LOVE that they remind you of this in each maze. But I felt it could be done better... some of the mazes they completely break character and say "don't touch the actors"... a few were better, like "don't touch my family" or "don't touch the creatures", so they tried to keep the immersion. I still cannot wait to be able to go to Knott's Scary Farm or Dark Harbor again, though.
