| Some reports are saying the protesters think the guy pulled into a parking lot somewhere and came back to watch their reactions to the dying kitten.
They're looking for him. Fucking prick. At the same time, various people have been putting kittens and cats in microwaves (some turning the microwave on and others throwing it out the window with the animal inside). THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE?! |

| Snopes is reporting they aren't sure whether or not the story is true because one side is reporting it happened, the other side is reporting it didn't, and the original reporter is maintaining that it happened, but that the authorities are trying to cover it up.

| Update on this latest incident: His wife is now changing her story, saying she never saw a gun and now doesn't want to press charges, despite his own attorney saying he had one on him. But apparently she captured the incident on her iPad, which Zimmerman then smashed and cut further with a pocket knife and it's getting examined by a lab.
Seriously, if this were someone else (you know, someone who wasn't involved in a high profile court case), the cops would have dropped it. I mean, sending an iPad to a crime lab after the victims already said, "You know what? Nevermind," is interesting. |

| I definitely agree (and frankly it's difficult for me to not see the man of being guilty of excessive force all around), at least in the sense that they should go ahead and pursue this because there's got to be more to it.
My statement was cynical. It just seems in the past, police simply move onto the next case and file this sort of thing away until another incident happens. In all my times of calling the police for whatever reason, it seemed like they started a file and then.. well, that was it (except when they managed to catch the crook and his pregnant girlfriend who broke into my grandmother's house, but that was because they were stupid and caught driving the same truck that was used in the crime). |

| Brandon and I were having a conversation about long distance service over lunch today. I mean, remember when there was a battle among the phone companies about who was the better long distance carrier and how you either needed to use a phone card or you could save money by dialing one of those 10-10 numbers (10-10-220 or 10-10-321, etc) before putting in the number you wanted to call?
Anyway, these are the sorts of things the younger generations will totally not get, and I got to thinking that a reminiscing about old tech and pop culture would be interesting. So what are you "Remember when ... "s? "When" is optional if it doesn't fit with your post. Remember chatrooms? When I was a die-hard AOL user I spent hours typing at random people, and often pretending to be 8 or so years older than I was. Remember when people used to "cyber"? Remember when you used to have to know someone with a scanner to get a picture on your computer? Remember having to drop off film at a photo processing place, and having to wait a week to see what you got? Remember having to buy rolls of film and only get 20-30 pictures, if you were lucky? Remember having to load a camera and what a bitch it often was? |

| So we're a few months into this new pope's reign and already we're seeing some positive changes.
Most recently, he's said that old church buildings should be used to house refugees. He's also trying to get people to not look down at Catholic divorcees, he's said that he embraces gays who consider themselves devout followers of Christ, and people are still trying to sort out whether or not he actually said atheists and agnostics can go to heaven so long as they follow their conscience (it's people arguing over which translation is more accurate, mostly). Hell, people even love the fact that he rides around in a regular car and not the Pope-mobile. |

| Geez, and when, if you wanted to hear a song you either 1) had to wait for it to play on the radio, 2) buy a CD or cassette with the song on it, or 3) when the option to download things became available, you had to wait 45 minutes or so to get it off someone else.
And yeah, I remember when the library had insanely fast Internet. Now, the library has the exact same set-up as 10 years ago and it's slow as fuck. Remember floppy discs? Remember getting AOL floppies in the mail? Remember Tiger Electronics games?  |

| Following Sons of Anarchy's season premiere last week (which featured prison rape, torture porn, someone getting forcibly drowned in a bathtub full of urine, and --worst of all for many people -- a school shooting), a conservative parents group came forward saying they were going to try to press Congress to push the cable companies into offering a-la-carte choices.
Source In other words, rather than fighting to get the show removed they'd rather not have a portion of their cable bill going to channels they deem inappropriate or disagree with. They want it to be so you can choose what channels you'd receive, avoiding the ones you don't like or don't watch. What are your thoughts on this? |

| Saw Metallica's 3D movie, Through the Never, last night in IMAX. Lars Ulrich was there, since we were in Norwalk, and he commented how the band was formed around the corner, where the 105 is now.
The movie was awesome. They played it loud and it was really like watching one of their concerts. The story about the roadie trying to carry out an errand was all abstract, and while people complained I thought it was fine. It was like an extended music video, and those never, ever have to make sense. Anyway, here's them on Colbert, getting intro'd by a Jesuit priest. Fucking metal. If it autoplays on you, I apologize. Brandon's got band practice, and I'm not sure if I want to watch it without him or not yet. It's always more fun to watch things for the first time with him, but eeeee, I wanna see what happens when it airs (I might stream it when the videos hit the web after it airs on the eastcoast). Anyway, no one knows what's going to happen and that's awesome. |
