| Our new book for next month is a murder mystery called "The Secret History" by Donna Tartt. I'm only 30 pages in and I despise it, simply for the fact that the author chose to name a set of twins Charles and Camilla.
While this thing was written in 1992, I HATE when writers give characters matching names from real life like that. What, no Ozzie and Harriet? No Bonnie and Clyde? No Othello and Desdamona? Worse yet that they picked the Prince of Wales and his then mistress to try to make these snobby, New England college kids sound more regal. |

| Yeah, it's majority reported it was shot down now. Seems like the loudest voices are saying it was Ukrainian rebels with a missile launcher, but who knows? It could still have been someone else trying to make it look like that.
It's amazing how quickly people have started making terrible jokes about it. I can see the value in gallows humor, but there's a time and place for this sort of thing and I can't help but think of my parents and their world travels lately and think about how easily this could have happened to people we love. | I know what you mean about taking some time to think about it, and YES! Nature is a great answer. Appreciate it as much as possible.
I know it's just a commercial, but the Discovery Channel's The World Is Awesome ads always give me hope when things are at their blackest. And to answer your question, I'm more of a morning person these days. I tend to wake up around 7 every morning and I can't stand being out too late any more. Also, I always feel like if I wake up after 10 I've already started the day off completely wrong and I love going out and doing things in the morning, eating breakfast/brunch, and getting the most out of the day. Doesn't help that I also go through serious depression when the days are shorter and I don't get to do as much outside when it's darker sooner. What's something you love that everyone else seems to hate? |

| Since I've given up soda (mostly), and am more into lemonade and water, I've been putting much more ice than I used to, so yeah... I guess a little more than average now.
Unless it's a purchased drink, then only so much. But then I still prefer watered down lemonade now. What's your ideal appetizer? |

| I tend to go for one with the SPF over 60. I've thankfully just bought a tube of the high-quality Neutrogena stuff, that actually protects you and doesn't go greasy.
I feel like a grown-up, especially after several faire seasons of rubbing the stingy, foul-smelling plastic, greasy stuff Stitch has from a cruise he took years back. Besides wallet, keys, and clothes, what other things without which you tend to not leave the house? |

| I often wish I was from the Mediterranean, particularly Greece, and I still do. Seems like things are less tech/money/douche status-driven and they have such a divine landscape. Yeah, I guess that's where I'd have liked to have been born instead.

| Fuck that my Facebook feed is clogged with people bragging about being at Comic-Con. I keep telling myself it's overly crowded and the lines are stupid long and the con hasn't been great since 2007, but I still sort of ache to be there.
When I went through this last year, and did go in, it SUCKED SO FUCKING HARD. Everyone had an attitude, it was difficult to move or breathe, and I got shoved and elbowed in the ribs so much. Not to mention the fact that people camp for all the panels now. Ugh... fuck you, Twilight. Fuck you, your shitty writer, and your die-hard fans. You've ruined something I used to call home. |

| I need to come up with things to do to get the hell away from Facebook for the weekend.
I'll probably try hanging around Hollywood tonight and we've got a beer tasting tomorrow and maybe free Shakespeare. I know someone selling Saturday tickets to Comic-Con, but I keep insisting to myself not to buy them for the fact that I KNOW it's going to be terrible. Need to come up with something worthwhile to do instead. |

I'm just glad it's behind me now, though I still have to talk about it in a couple weeks. Started reading "Flowers For Algernon" just to read something else. Should probably finish "The Agony and the Ecstasy" before I start anything else. |

| Not really sure. I'm not much of a fan of those Quaker Oats ones where they try to stick a few teensy chocolate chips in it and say it's a treat. They all seem to taste the same.
I don't really pick up these things. If I eat them it's because someone gave them to me. Oh and not really a fan of SoyJoy. They kept giving us sample bars when I was working Wizard World Anaheim some years back. Actually reading the label would have been a bummer for vegans because I think there were eggs and other things in there, which seems contradictory to the point of making a soy-based sugary What did you think of the last movie you watched? |

| Yeah, one of the articles I saw about the casting video mentioned they were Oberyn's bastard daughters. I don't consider that a spoiler, and I'm thrilled to see them in action, though I don't know anything else about them.
I heard the Comic-Con panel's Q&A was loaded with angry book-readers dropping spoilers here and there. Yet, another reason I'm glad I wasn't there.  |
