OOC: Yeah, I have other fights open, but no one responds
So this is currently my second 'active' simbattle.

Standard rules. Ten pages or more and it goes to the judges.

Samuel sat in the sumer sun, the sound of water drowning out that of the passerby's. The fountain the man sat upon was large, the water spewing from the many heads of a hydra only slightly higher than ankle deep. Another boy threw a coin into the fountain, adding another to the metal that seemed to coat the floor.

For the first time in an hour, Samuel looked up. The boy that had passed belonged to a simple American family. He was eagerly tugging on his father's shirt, surely pleading for more money to make another wish. Beneath his cowl, Samuel smiled. What it must like to belong.

The boy's father gave in, faking irritation as he handed his son another quarter. A few people chuckled to themselves as the boy all but ran back to the fountain, leaving the shade of the many trees that lined the sidewalks. He squinted his eyes shut with all of his might once he reached the pool of water, and then opened them with delight on his face. The quarter flipped through the air and landed with another splash, its ripples quickly fading as more water cascaded downwards. It was as if the hydra owned the waters, deciding who and what was allowed to stay.

With a cheer of joy, the young child looked up to the nearest person to share his excitement with. That person just so happened to be Samuel. Samuel smiled back beneath his cowl and waved to the boy, but to no avail. The child's smile was gone, replaced with curiosity and fear. He quickly ran back to his parents, the mother looking back and shaking her head.

Samuel looked down at himself, his clothes nothing but black in the summer heat. Of course the boy was scared. He looked like a freak. Samuel heard the muttering around him grow tense before he heard the sound of another voice in front of him. A voice that resonated with power.

Joe saw the man before him. Dressed completely in black, on a day like this, what was he thinking?
"Samuel? If that is you, I've heard stories of you and I'd much like to add your name to a very selective list." Joe charged his energy, he was getting excited. He stompt down on the ground, forcing spears to jut out of the ground to his opponent. As Samuel was sitting it would be difficult to avoid the attack but it was mainly just a distraction. Joe also leapt back and brought a small rock up to spiral around him.

How this man knew of Samuel, he knew not. Samuel was not one to throw himself into ruthless fights. He fought to defend himself and others. To protect them from harm.

The man before him gave Samuel no option but to fight. He was rude, sloppy and hasty. However, the man wielded power, no matter how unskilled he used it.

A torrent of air formed a small dome around Samuel as he rose slowly to his feet. The rocks shattered harmlessly, turning into a fine dust.

"You attack ruthlessly, but with no skill. If you wish to add me to this 'list', you will have to do much better than that," Samuel retorted quietly. The wind still swept around him, forming a protective barrier in case of another attack. A white scimitar was brought up into a defensive position. Samuel would allow this brute another attack before retaliating.

And then death would strike.

Joe watched as Samuel brought his sword up. His blast had ground the dirt into dust. Joe lifted the dust and spun it around Samuel's own orb of wind, thereby distorting his vision. Joe then raised his hand and as he it rose so did four walls of earth around Joe. Samuel's vision was now blocked by dust and a house of rock. Joe placed his hands on the walls to sense Samuel's location.

Samuel sighed at the pitiful defense. In the blink of an eye, his dome had reversed, encasing the dirt in compacted casing of air which flew away. Samuel took to the air by manipulating he air around his body and having it lift him him up. By doing this, Joe had no idea where his opponent was anymore.

Joe, however, had bigger problems. Like the small tornado that Samuel had just formed between the four rock walls. It would slowly tear his skin off, especially since the sediments torn away from the walls would be continuously ramming into their manipulator.

Joe allowed himself a small grin. 'He's clever, but he underestimates me.' Joe sank into the earth as the tornado was forming. As it came into creation Joe forced the walls together destroying the twister. 'Well I'm not a one trick horse.' Joe felt the changes in air currents, he knew exactly where Samuel was. Joe sent five earthen tenticles at Samuel. The tenticles were large and zeroing in on Joe's opponent.

ooc: Thanks

Samuel remained still as the arms of concrete raced towards him. He waited until last second to move, flying over the tentacles with aerial finesse. With the momentum those things had, even magic would have a tough time reversing their direction to follow Samuel to their base. For where their base lay, so did their manipulator.

With a slash of his sword, a wave of air rocketed downwards to the center of the tentacles' bases, right where the man was last seen. The air would blast apart the ground it hit, leaving the tentacles intact. This was a concentrated attack. Simple and effective, unlike the massive amounts of energy his opponent was expending to use these tentacles, wait underground and siphon the air in order to breath.

Stamina was key in a battle, and Joe was wasting his early.

The tenticles blew past Samuel as he moved, for them to stop and change direction would be impossible. Instead Joe sent more tenticles bursting forth from the originals. He also felt Samuel send a blast of air at him. Using his control over the air Joe sensed the power behind the slash. He moved his body slightly farther underground and Samuel's blast created a large crater in the earth, where Joe stood unharmed. But now Samuel was surrounded by large tenticles, on all sides. Joe clasped his hands together and spikes erupted from the tenticles and were flying towards Samuel. His odds of dodging were very improbable due to the fact that he was surrounded and the spikes were flying at great speeds.

Ah, But Samuel was not surrounded by the tentacles at all. Joe, originally sending them towards his last position, had erupted more tentacles from the ones that Samuel had left behind. The spikes, however, would be coming towards him, regardless.

Dodging them would be a piece of cake, but instead, Samuel sent a wave of air upwards that sent all pieces of rock flying towards him high into the air. However, the tentacles had hit more than just the ground; they had also hit the fountain that Samuel was originally sitting upon.

The bowl was cracked on the side, and the water endlessly poured, slowly filling the crater in the ground with water. The once serene park was now damaged beyond easy repair.

Samuel looked down at the man sitting in the crater, hating him with all of his heart. He quickly flew back around to his original position, keeping Joe in sight at all times.

Joe saw the water filling the crater. He leapt into the air, and prepared for Samuel's assault. The tenticles that were once chasing Samuel, Joe allowed to fall into dust. It surrounded the fighters, Joe glanced around him. It was quiet, and he liked the ability to concentrate. He quickly drew one pistol from his jacket and fired a round at Samuel, using his control over the wind to speed and steady it. If it continued it would penetrate Samuel's torso and might hit his heart or lungs.

As Joe leapt into the air, Samuel fell to the ground. The dust surrounding his grew thicker as he drew in air around it, hoping to provide a wide screen from his opponent. And then the gun was fired.

A scream of pain was heard from within the smoke cloud. When it cleared, Samuel was seen lying on the ground without a movement. Not even the slow rise and fall of his lungs expanding were there to be seen. No.

The smoke screen hadn't worked.

Joe heard the scream. His bullet had hit it's mark. He moved close to Samuel now, his body was still. There was nothing but an empty shell of a great warrior. Joe knelt down next to his target and reached in his back pocket. A small scroll that unraveled to show a long list of great fighters that had fallen in combat. Joe touched his fingers to Samuel's wound and placed them on the scroll. As the thick red liquid touched the paper Samuel's name formed.
"Good night great warrior." Joe then lowered Samuel's body into the ground. "I wish you a happy life on Olympus." Joe walked away from the grave, as he walked his body changed. A new tattoo formed depicting his most recent battle. The new tattoo was by far his favorite.

But there was no blood to be found. Samuel had faked his death to draw Joe in. While in the smokescreen, the bullet had hit the ground to the left of Samuel. Coming up with in an idea in mere milliseconds, he screamed and fell to the ground.

And now his plan was in action.

As Joe knelt down next to Samuel, he slowly built a thin layer of air between himself and the water pooled upon the ground. At the same time, he finally revealed the strength of his white blade. At the speed of light, a bolt of electricity raced off of the blade and into the pool of water. The water that Joe had gotten wet in before. The water he was now kneeling in.

As the electricity continued to stream into the water, Samuel jumped up and backwards, levitating a few feet from the ground. This was a sure victory. With the water conducting the electricity straight into Joe, he would be dead in less than a second.

Joe watched the lightning arch into the water. He felt the sting and jolt of the lightning as it raced through his system and into the ground around him. Samuel had forgotten the dust. There was dust all around them and even underneath Joe. The lightning would first have to go through the rubber of Joe's sneakers, and his pant leg. Since rubber doesn't conduct his jeans were the only way out for the lightning charged water. But the water was dillouted with the dust of Joe's former attack. The lightning left a large burn on Joe's chest and back, he was greatly injured, but not dead. His breathing heavy, Joe raised an orb of sand around Samuel's levitating body, he used his contorl over the air to negativly charge the dust and create a vaccum. Now Samuel was trapped in a ball of dust moving very quickly, that was filled with negativly charged atoms. Joe opened a path to his opponent and lightning burst forth at Samuel, the odds of dodging were improbable. Joe was using almost all of his remaining energy to end this battle. If Samuel tried to use his sword as a conductor not only would his hands be burnt from the current of the lightning but also his back was open to another strike.

When the sand started to rise, Samuel formed a dome of air similar to his first defense around his body, stopping the sand from holding his hostage. The vacuum still formed, but only around Samuel's air dome.

Now, a vacuum is a tricky thing to create. In order for a vacuum to exist, nothing can exist in a specific are. In other words, there is literally nothing within a confined space.

Joe was wrong.

The elementalist was using a technique that he had not mastered, and very few have. Joe was under the impression that there were negatively charged particles within his vacuum. This is incorrect. Nothing was inside of his vacuum.

When Joe moved aside the dust and let loose the lightning, it stopped dead once it hit his vacuum. In order for the lightning to continue through and strike Samuel, there would have to be a dense gas, such as air.

There was none.

While Joe was doing this, Samuel used his mastery over the air to increase the pressure on one of the Hydra's mouths, causing the water to spray towards Joe in a wide arc, most likely soaking him.

Joe sensed, through his control of the air and earth, that his attack wasn't going to hit. Then he heard the water rushing towards him, acting quickly he launched himself away from the water and his opponent and into a thicket of trees. Joe took a deep breath in. The air he took in pumped in his muscles and organs. He was losing his fatigue. His wounds still hurt but his energy was returning, and he'd need all of his energy to fight Samuel.

Joe's energy may be returning, but it wouldn't last long.

As soon as the man fled into the thicket (there aren't really thickets, either, but I'll use it against you), he sent a strong wave through the trees, just where Joe's waist would be. Unless he dodged, Joe would be severed in two.

But that wasn't his only problem. The trees around Joe were severed, as well. Meaning they would be toppling onto and around him.

Samuel would allow no time for the elementalist to rest.

This fight was his.

Joe quickly took in another deep breath and raised a dome of earth around himself. He sensed the attack hit the area around him and the trees rested against the dome. Joe then compressed the air that was in the dome and then released it. The dome exploded and bits of rock and debris were hurtiling at Samuel, Joe then used his air manipulation to speed up the projectiles. Joe didn't have time to stand still he ran backwards keeping his eyes on Samuel inhaling deeply as he went. His lungs and muscles were gaining their strength back.

The rocks may have been a problem, except for the fact that they shot nowhere near him. A tree lay directly between the dome and Samuel, so when it exploded, none of the rocks that shot off were flying in his direction.

Samuel alighted upon the ground and ran towards Joe gracefully, his sword held aloft and ready for an attack. When he reached Joe, a diagonal slash was sent downwards. No lightning would be used if the sword hit.

Samuel wanted a close ranged fight.

Joe saw the slash coming down, Samuel's momentum was heading towards Joe, who took a deep breath in as Samuel's blade drew closer. As he stepped back, Joe let out a deep breath and with it was gale force winds heading towards Samuel. And Joe used his manipulation of the ground to raise a large wall of spikes behind Samuel. dodging the attack would be impossible as Samuel was moving in close and Joe was directly in front of his opponent. The blast would send Samuel directly into the spiked wall unless he thought of a new way out.
