Let's take a different example here. Grass. It's green. Now, what if someone asks why?

"It's green because it's green." That's not a reason. That's simply repeating yourself.

"It's green becasue of the chloroplasts in the cells." That's more of a reason, though it may be inaccurate (I never paid attention in Biology).


Sajin, all I want is for you to admit ignorance on the subject. That is, in fact, the entire point of the initial question. When someone who believes people choose their sexuality is questioned about it in this way, I've noticed that they freqently find themselves unable to think of a valid response. Rather than admit ignorance, however, they try to cover up their lack of knowledge with either confusing, meaningless bullshit or resort to a looping argument of "it is because it is". I honestly thought and hoped you'd admit not knowing the first time so we wouldn't get to this point.

Hm, yes, I think I see the problem.

You're misinterpreting the meaning of the term ignorant. You do not know. That is what it means in the way I am using it (hell, I even bolded that for you in my last post).You believe, but you do not know. Instead, you read it as me calling you stupid - admittedly, a common misconception. But ignorance is not entirely a bad thing; we all are missing some knowledge, some of us more than others, so we're all ignorant of some things.

Now that we've clarified that, back tot he question I posed. Why do you believe what you do?

I'm hoping for a thought-out post from you here. I don't want religion called into this, either - blind obedience, such as to a religion, is just as bad as blind disobedience, as either way you're depriving yourself of thought. I've explained my reason, Sajin, though it was in the context of a question. If you'd like, I can paraphrase and summarize it for you.

Prove it
While I can't technically prove it, I'm not asking for proof from you, I'm asking for a reason behind your belief. Therefore, I'll approach this as you asking the same.

People born retarded can't choose to change. Born black? Can't change that purely by choice (perhaps medically possible, but we're discussing choice here, not surgery). Born a midget? You can't just wake up and think "hey, I want to be taller" and magically grow to a normal height. So all these things tied, as far as I know, to genetics that can't be changed by choice... why would another thing caused by genetics be different?
