technically they don't..... although the differences aren't large in number.... the main difference being that Jesus was just a prophet and not the savior of the world.... and not God in human flesh.

wow Vulkar.... that sounds pretty similar to what I believe about "Hell"

what religion do you follow.... you can PM me if you want...

As for hell, it's both a place and a state of being. The "hellfire" is what your mind/soul experiences after realizing the choices you made were wrong and you've missed out on something better than you got.... but it's also a place, in the strictest sense, that your soul goes somewhere and exists there for eternity.

Xeios: you made my day that was amazing! You have my number completely. No one could be more right!

1) A legend is only a legend to some. I for one don't think he did anything that special.

2) Well technically circular thinking works my like, "I think therefore I am, and I am because I think" but I'm sure you know that.

3) I don't disrespect everyone on this board. Only those people that feel the need to treat me like dirt because of my viewpoints.

4) This thread asked for an opinion about Kurt Cobain, how he died.... and I decided to add that I don't particularly care if he did it, or Courtney Love did it, but that I was just glad that we are rid of him.

5) I was unprovoked in my first post, but that doesn't mean that my opinion changes. Offending someone is not a crime. Whoever was offended chose to be.

6) Oh no! You don't think I'm staff worthy! Well, for one I have been, not that it matters too much.

As for your last rant: My failures? You know me on this board, and maybe a few others. What can you possibly know about me? Suppressed dork rage? How long did that paragraph take you? I think your love for Kurt has blinded you to the truth. But thanks for the effort. I'm glad to see that someone besides Tamarin can rant at me for that long.

Like I said before

If there is a 100% true religion that has God right, and morality right, and all that stuff..... then in my mind it should co-exist perfectly with science.

Again, maybe not science as we know it today.... but the true, perfect understanding of science that we may not have for a while....

wow, I had a point.... [smiles inside]

yeah, it's not something that is likely to happen in our lifetime. Or ever. Unless "God" revealed himself to the world and taught us everything that we have right and wrong.... which is also very unlikely....

yeah, I don't think Earth the way it is or has been could be remotely close to "the worst it could ever get"....

it does suck a lot.... but it is also great other times. Hell to me is perpetual torment with no good and all bad.... and my life definitely isn't that

Elara: the "other gods" in that commandment don't neccesarily mean other "supreme beings".... they could be anything else like a love of money or status or power over a love of god.... putting your career before God...

anythings like that...

not to say that you are wrong in your interpretation.... I agree, there are more gods that just "GOD"... but like the scripture says.... he comes first

evil Japan?

uhm.... the US attacked Japan first.... they just didn't do it so blatantly like the Japanese did

the US knew it had to get into the war, but knew it's people didn't want to.... so they hit first, got hit back.... and then kicked some ass

anyway! again I agree.... there is being too fanatical about your religion. Some people just can't accept anything else. In a sense they shouldn't have to accept it as being right, but they really shouldn't go on and on and on and on about how "wrong and evil" certain choices are. In my mind, you make your point and then move on and let the person decide what they want to do.

what they really should do is the reverse of what you are suggesting....

instead of taxing every good and service out there.... tax people on their income, and then leave the rest of the stuff untaxed....

so, I want something, I look at the price and it is the stated price, not adding on 6% or 4% for taxes.... that's annoying...

that way... what you get "after tax" on your paycheck is actually the money you have to spend.... not 94% of it after you pay taxes on all the other stuff you're going to buy....

although, it doesn't really solve much of a problem, other than it makes taxing simpler

I'm going to take on the Caffiene part as well, since I am also a member.

To my knowledge there has never been a statement by a leader of our church that caffiene can't be consumed. It's in a lot of things like coffee, tea, soda, chocolate. Now, we are explicitly told not to drink tea or coffee, but no mention is made of soda or chocolate. However, in my opinion regardless of the content, anything out of moderation (that isn't strictly forbidden) is bad. Too much of anything isn't healthy.

I doubt the coffee or tea thing is as much about being addictive as it has to do with them being unhealthy.

Either way, Mormons believe we were commanded to abstain from these things and so most of us do (certain caffiene items are obviously personal choice). That's about how it goes.

okay, I don't know exactly who thinks that someone could marry an animal... but those people are stupid

however, now that there is gay marriage (legalized in a few countries).... what's stopping people from marrying 2 or 3 people? or 10? What if I love them all, it's my right to be happy isn't it?

Tamarin: I didn't flame you.... I told you to eat a dick.... very on topic for this thread

I tired of not being able to disagree with something.... as if because I think it's wrong and immoral that I'm insane or mentally retarded....

and so what about taxes? the tax laws could be altered to work around that. All the laws pertaining to marriage could be changed to handle 3+ couples.

[stares].... I think the staff needs a lesson on what flaming actually is....

and population control? not likely.... so 1% of the population stops having kids.... so instead of 1 billion children it's 900 million...

that won't stop much

avatar: it's the fact that a VERY small group can force the government to change that law to get what they want.... when that majority in the country was opposed to it (Canada).... and the Liberal government up here ignored the people and did what they wanted to instead.

there are very small groups of poligamists in Canada, that want the right to be able to do this.... where's the justification against it? can someone give me a good reason why they can't marry more than 1 person if a man can marry a man?

and YES, I'm going to bring this up again.

I never said you can't.... I've said over and over that I disagree with it and that if I had my way I wouldn't want it to happen. But the law has changed and it is now legal. There isn't much I can do about it. I do retain my right to disagree with it, just like I disagree with smoking and alcohol being legal.

I'm going to have to agree with Tamarin on this one

everyone has thoughts about things they would like to do, or be, or accomplish...

some of these thoughts just happen because they happen.... some days you want to kill someone, or yourself... you see an attractive person and consider having sex with them.... and the list goes on...

however, acting on some of the thoughts you have can be bad

I will stray slightly and say that dwelling on thoughts of sexual acts on really young children, or killing/hurting other people or yourself are definitely warning signs of a problem.... but I doubt that is the case for too many people here

you know what doesn't make sense in this thread (to me at least)....

what does marriage have to do with love? who's stopping homosexuals from being in love? I'm sure not. They have every right to be in love. I'm not stopping them. And why do they need (or want) to get married? How is it expressing their love any better? I got married for religious reasons more than I did legal/secular.

So the whole focus on love and homosexuality is a pretty weak argument to me. People live together and are in love all the time and they aren't married. They can do in private what they want to and there isn't much that anyone can do to stop them. And I'm fine with that. You want to do that in private then be my guest.

However, I'm opposed to that lifestyle being celebrated openly. Why is there a parade for people that love someone of the same gender? The population of homosexuals is already small (estimated at around 1%) and openly homosexual people have been polled and not all of them want to be married. So, we're making a big deal out of less than 1% of the population because they want to be "equal"?

[sigh]

no, it's not a right. I'm not allowed to demand a wife (or husband if I so desire).

I must go and find one willing to enter into the marriage contract with me.

So, it's not a right .
