Before I lay into this, Vulkar...(not making it out to be an attack against you, so don't take it that way. ) I must ask...

Why?

Why do children need a nurturing mother and a strong father?

While there are many things I could say here, I'm going to stick with the simplest...families can't afford (most families at least) to have one working parent and the other stay home. So now, both me and my husband (use your imagination here) are doing the same thing. We're working AND taking care of our child(ren). It's not fair to me to say that I'm not strong like my husband, while we're both working our asses off. And it's not fair to my husband to say that he isn't nurturing when he holds our baby and sings him/her to sleep just like I do.

While there are biological differences between men and women, we're all capable of surviving, meaning we can put on the necessary roles when they're called for.

I know it looks like I'm straying, but I'm really not. I want Vulkar to answer my question before I bring my point to a head. (Though I'm sure many see what I'm getting at.)

Well, yes, I agree too. There are biological factors and questions that only certain genders can answer...but Rogue, you nailed it. Aunts. Uncles. Cousins. Whathaveyou.

It doesn't HAVE to be the parents. If that's the case...then with the way society is changing... With women becoming more and more of a force to be reckoned with in the working world, yet whispers of old-time sexism still occur...well, children may end up "confused" anyway, if confusion is the reasoning behind prohibiting gay couples the right to children...

This is one of the topics I have had time to observe others and form my own opinions on for a looong time. Usually I don't involve myself in these debates, simply for lack of knowledge.

Gay marriage isn't the exact topic, but I guess gay marriage kinda comes hand in hand here...since that has been one of the biggest reasons why I've heard gay marriage isn't right...for the whole procreation thing.

One thing I'm not too knowledgable in, so I'd like some input here...but does marriage help the economy really? If so, then why would there be sooo many limitations on marriage? I mean, there should be some, just to ensure it's conducted in a responsible way...but...I don't know...

I love you.

Anyway...this can be fun. When I was younger, I used to be like "Bleh. Why do we need these events? Can't we just function like this all the time?" But they can serve some sort of functionality. We should make a pact that we'll be on within this certain time frame (cuz I know not everyone is going to be able to post at the same time in one day.) No matter how much one posts on their own...it gets kinda lonely when no one else is posting with you. So, Nagis, this can still be fun. You should still do it.

Remember when it was like that guys? We all read the entire thread before posting, responded to everyone's posts. One bigass conversation. We should strive for that moreso than anything this Shredsgiving. I mean, Shredding and getting a lot of posts will be awesome and all...but we might be able to maintain more interest in the board if we returned to our old comradarie. **shrugs**

Off topic, but I've seen "Stitch" (aka CIA, Zabuza) back...so on the off chance of you reading this post...I missed you!!!

I'm fairly torn...Well, a little more than "fairly".

**sighs** I thought this would get easier as I got older. The world's problems just keep getting crazier and crazier by the year. Either that or it has always gone at this pace. It's just made known to us sooner thanks to globalization and instant communication.

I didn't even register. And for that reason, I'm not going to sit around and "bitch" about the state of things, with the exception of educational purposes. I just still feel...too naive. I know I can register as undecided and all. Being the middle man isn't TOO terrible, since neither side is perfect, but I'm simply in the middle out of indecisiveness, not just open mindedness.

Not saying that I'm never going to register, but there's nothing wrong with taking a little extra time to become more comfortable with the notion and make myself a much more informed member of the voters club we citizens form...right?

Hmmm, well I'm totally sober ... 4:00 AM, whatever.

Was kind of an anticlimatic night, but oh well. I never had any concrete plans and most of my friends are still downtown, at least where the parties are (college town basically). Did get some drink on though! Bought some Boulevard Wheat and some Captain Morgan's Rum! But yeah, this is definitely an age where you actually "feel" something ... I guess.

Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm I need a lady friend.

Don't feel bad. My boyfriend turned 21 last April...his birthday was on a Saturday...and we were all between the ages of 19-23 basically...so...not like there were little kids all over the place. Know what we did? Are fruit snacks and played SSBB on the Wii. XD

I see what you mean though as far as making solid plans with friends...his birthday was just before Spring Break(just after for some), so not many of our friends were home, we had like no cash (saving for the vacation we took the following month. ) and it IS nice to just sit back and be simple.

I'm sure Jedi Master Cyro drank enough for the two of you. (Just be careful meeting the ladies at clubs the bars. Clubs may be okay though. )

Mac vs. PC.

I go to art school now...and my career path will only expand upon that. My school "requires" a Mac..thing is, it's not like we buy the Macs from the school. They don't benefit from the purchase of these macs whatsoever. Now...I'm sitting here on a Mac that belongs to a friend of mine...and...I gotta admit, I enjoy how smoothly the programs (photoshop, flash, dreamweaver...) run on this baby. Not to mention this screen is outright gorgeous.

Now, as I mentioned, the school doesn't benefit from the Mac I may or may not purchase...which makes me feel like it isn't some sort of marketing expedition (I work in retail, mind you...) and worth looking into.

Thing is, they're expensive as hell. I'm not afraid to spend the money...I'm just afraid to spend it on something worthless, because I do have to spend my money sparingly...

So...I want all you tech-guys (and girls ~_^ ) to sell something to me. No pressure. I'll ultimately be making the decision...I just want to make an informed decision...

So, what will it be? Mac or PC?

Thank you guys sooo much...I still may end up getting a Mac someday...but only if I ever become rich to the point in which I can afford to delete the extra steps of effort. The things I will be asked to do for school IS doable on windows. It's just difficult to transfer things. These first two years won't be too bad. Though they do recommend it by sophomore year, I can get most of the work done in school and spend an hour or so after school to get the work done. But when the work becomes more extensive, staying after and using the school's computers won't be enough. I'll need to do the work on my own time at home as well. Plus I have a job, so a laptop will become vital.

I may end up getting a mac for the sheer fact that I just got my scholarship letter AND refund check and am now going to this school for the next four years for free...that makes 4,000 less a year that I thought I would have to pay out of pocket.

I know it sounds like a strange reason to spend $2,000 bucks...but the fact that it's instant. That I can instantly open my files and work on them, display them...whatnot makes a BIG difference to the thought of having to worry about making sure my files transfered correctly. Like...did I say BIG? Because I meant ENORMOUSLY...hdfjghjdkf **spazzes** I can't even describe it. My lifestyle isn't "difficult" per se (Thanks to Stitch, I think I now spell "per se" correctly. ) but it's hectic. Constantly moving. Busy...I find my free time in the oddest of moments...for example, my half hour break at work, or at random times where the objects I need for school are unavailable at the time...

I know this is long, so I'll try and make it short from here. $2,000 bucks doesn't sound entirely silly to me when it means that school work is less tedious, thus giving me a better shot at scoring a good grade, thus keeping my GPA at the requirements for the scholarship. So...$2,000 all together...or $16,000 if I lose my scholarship. (I know you're trying to save me money Spartan, so I wanted to point that out) As far as everything else goes...I'm going to admit...I'll have to re-read these posts and research macs and pcs (along with the advice I was given) a little more...most of the stuff went over my head. I appologize. I'm a terribly lazy reader. I prefer to have the machine in front of me and mess around, or physically see what's going on to understand it.

Thank you guys soooo much for the advice though. I ask that this thread stay open though, because the decision hasn't been made final yet, so I, if no body else at least, would love to see input whether the thread ends up being bumped or what.

I never really thought about the little things like that. Some of it I'm not so surprised. My sisters bitch about the money they end up spending whenever they go shopping, and I know they've fallen for most of that crapola.

**shrugs** I'm used to being broke...so I don't really thing I fall for that kinda stuff. I prolly would though if I knew I had money to spend...My weakness is color. If it's organized and colorful, then I want it. Or I notice it, thinking that I want something from that specific section. S'why I know I wouldn't stand a chance in arts and crafts stores. I always send my friends in for me.

Those fired have been on the news even out here on the East Coast.

People bitch about the humidity here in Philly, which sure, for the elderly and asthmatic, can be terrible...but I know that's nothing compared to an air that basically spontaneously combusts... I'm sure I'm not being "politically correct", but you get what I mean. I couldn't imagine going to school and having ash being blown all over. I hope you guys are all going to be okay.

Heh.

I can't wait until you re-read this when you're sober.

XD

No drunken escapades myself. I've been so busy, and I date an anti-alcohol kinda guy, so it's lost it's appeal. Drinking is only fun when the company you're keeping is into it too.

That and I'm ever so close to 21. I'd like the weekend to be exciting, rather than something I'm used to.

I'm not gonna lie...I kinda miss academics. I LOVE art school...but...I'm going a little stir crazy with the change...

So, it's not the same as "finals" per se. We call it evaluations. Basically it's the last week of the quarter. With the exception of Wednesdays and Thursdays, there's only one class a day from 9-3. We basically go in with all our work from the quarter and have individual conferences with the teachers. Cool thing is, we can technically say we have 8 weeks to do the assignments. As long as I turned in an assignment on time, if I don't like the grade I got for it, if I re-do it, or work on it some more, I can either get a completely new grade, or they count it as extra credit...depends on the teacher.

But...alas, my semester is not done...they do the break thing weird...I'm off now for three weeks, then I go back, have one week of regular classes, then evaluation week, and then I'm off for a week...and the second semester begins the last week in January.
