GO TO THE DOCTOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously.

Like....go.

Get that shit taken care of.

If you don't, you'll regret it.

I played hockey for 11 years. I too, have that same passion for hockey, and it destroyed me to my core when I couldn't play anymore. I played as goalie, so I had the typical knee problems. Thing is, when I was younger, they got dislocated WAY too many times. Now, my family raising me the way they did, we all had this "tough it out" mentality, and I would usually relocate them myself. If not myself, then my grandmother would. See, turns out the "tough it out" mentality was due to a lack of funds and insurance, so the idea of having to go to a doctor for something that I could have prevented all together by not being stupid (Yes, my decision to continue playing hockey made the family consider my injuries "self-induced." And I suppose they're right.) But yeah...I never had my knees checked out properly. They never healed right. Ever. To this day, there's nothing I can really do without major surgery(but at the same time, as long as I'm being "normal" and not playing hockey anymore, I can make due, they just hurt when the weather is bad, is all.). Then, BAM, while going through hockey try-outs, because despite making the team initially, there was still a try-out period every year, when I was in high school...but I dislocated my knees. Both of them. Only, they didn't go the right way. See, when the knee dislocates, it goes on the outside. Mine went inward. Apparently that's TERRIBLE, horrific damage. They took me out on a stretcher, and I was in tears. I'm no doctor, but something didn't feel right, and I just knew. I knew I was done. Everything I worked hard for, for 11 years, all that practicing and taking those hits to attempt to impress my dad, everything I did that DID in fact impress my step-father, who was now dead at that point, everything was just done. Even if I was able to get everything taken care of, they didn't want the liability of allowing me to play again.

To most, I'm perhaps making this out to be more dramatic than it should be, but I think you'll understand a little, City, this case specifically. Go see a physician. Figure out what you need to do, and do it. I know it's disappointing. I know it'll suck being out for a little while....but...it's MUCH better than losing it all.

**crosses fingers** Will most definitely keem 'em crossed for you. And good luck with the surgery. I sincerely hope it doesn't knock you down for an entire month. But stick through it. If they give a certain time for a healing process and you happen to feel better before that, please take it easy still.

I voted "no."

Here's the thing, could I consider it too risque? Yes. But compared to what parents let their children see and do nowadays, I don't think it's all that bad. Hell, I had my 3 year old niece working ALL summer to memorize the song "Hey Soul Sister!" by Train, and while its all cute with a nice beat, I didn't realize until she called me the other day to sing it, that my baby was singing to me "The way you can cut a row, watching you is the only drug I need." Now mind you, I don't think those are the actual lyrics (Although that's all I can hear now.) It seems everyone thinks it's cute. And she sings those words having no idea what she's saying.

Point is, children are exposed to ALL sorts of shit, and stupid parents need to stop deciding when they feel like and don't feel like giving a shit what their children are exposed to.

I think if parents focused on putting some censorship to Katy Perry in general, rather than allow her to become this icon in their worlds for kids to make the connection from her Sesame Street skit to her other theatrics, at least that would make more sense, because if I take the Sesame Street skit as is, I also think it's rather cute.

Posted on 09-26-10 03:17 AM, in Religious Respect Link
I totally agree with Rogue on this one. I think that is more of a cultural issue than it is a religious issue. You, True, would know a thousand times more about this than I, since Vulkar is 100% correct to point out that YOU are the one over there, but what a lot of people over here don't seem to understand is that religion takes on a cultural aspect in other countries. Like, people consider being Jewish to be a nationality. Well, it's not. It's a religion. People can convert to Judaism. They can consider themselves Jewish afterward. But they can't be a non-Italian, for example, and "convert" to being Italian. Hopefully I'm making sense here. HOWEVER, Judaism is SUCH a part of certain cultural aspects, that's where the sterio-typical Jewish "nationality" came from, at least in my opinion, I am always open to be corrected or hear someone else's take.

Speaking of being open to the opinions of others, I sincerely hope you don't mind, Urban, but True said she was Christian, not Catholic. Catholocism is a sect of Christianity, so there's a BIG difference between the words and what they stand for. Secondly, while I have my own opinions on Catholocism, some of which I'm certainly sure you and I will agree upon, tagging the Catholic Church as the religion that "takes your money" is discrimination. They ALL take money. They all take SOME sort of cost on it's followers.

See, one form of religious respect, in my opinion, is to take the time to learn about them, whether you believe in other religions or not. Even if you totally disagree, respect could still be shown simply by knowing what you're talking about, at least a little(Not saying you don't know anything Urban, I'm moving on with my points is all.). True, you may not have agreed with it, but I respect you for going through with reserving their beliefs, because in conjunction with Rogue's point, you're one more person out there who did something really good for our culture, not just for the situation over there. Actually did something, didn't just sit and talk about doing something.

I guess ths is a wee bit of a bump? I haven't been here in a while and just NOW, after 12 posts, started looking at the dates on the threads. XD

Nice one on pegging yourself with the "nerd's love Star Wars" sterio-type. Truthfully, I love when people break some "sterio-typical" rules, so I'm getting a bit of a kick outta this thread. But ready...ready...wait for it....another sterio-typical rule being broken...here it comes...

I'm a nerd too, and I don't think it's all that terrible that you haven't seen any of these things. XD (Dude, I get beat up, practically when I don't like something that most of my fellow nerds like, so I know how it feels to feel like you're under the gun a bit. XD )

The films/stories are great and all, but...to each their own. Me personally? I LOVE Star Wars. Always will. Above all else. I can literally say the films have helped make me who I am today. But not because it's sci-fi or whatever, truthfully, when it comes to sci-fi, there is MUCH better out there. But, film/art is a big passion of mine, and Star Wars is the movie that made me first question how it was done. Being VERY young and seeing those lightsabers go off, or objects move, I was instantly curious, and of course as I got older, I realized the many other things that went into making these movies. The make-up, set design, costume design, character design, etc...it's not the ONLY movie that has a lot of work put into it. They all do. It's just that it's the first that made me pay attention to those things.

LOTR and Star Trek fit into this idea of seeing the behind the scenes, as well. Fantastic movies/series, but they all were some sort of pioneer in the making of film. If you don't watch them, so what? You don't. There are a TON of things that among my peers, I'm considered "crazy" for. Among my film geeks, I was bashed for not seeing "The Graduate." (I eventually did though, and regret every moment of it besides the soundtrack.) But if you do watch them...then you do. **shrugs** If you were to watch them, then awesome. Whether you like them or not, it's one more person to talk to about them. One more perspective. **shrugs**

GTrologue is a demo on steroids, that's what it is. It was good for what it was, but yeah, GT5 BETTER be as sweet as it's appearing to be, especially considering this was supposed to be a launch title for the PS3, and I've been waiting since then for this fricken game!!!

I have mine pre-ordered....for anyone who knows me in person, that means I'm SUPER stoked and would sound just like every other fanboy/girl, so I'll save you all the redundancy. XD I'm ALWAYS broke, so the fact that I'm spending 60 bucks on something means I'm guarding it with my life. XD

I'm SOOOOO stoked though. Small perk for still working for GameStop is that I don't have to go out of my way to pick it up either.

Btw, I love you soooo much for posting these videos, Bitmap. <333

O_o They really ARE making DMC 5? Wow...I really dropped the ball on that one. I looked up the rumors on it months ago, and I pretty much found that they were never doing another DMC game. 'Least not in the near future.

Truthfully, while I agree with the downside of Capcom as of late, like Xeu pointed out, I still think things are looking better for the company than worse. Dark Void was terrible. I'll grant that, and RE 5 WAS lacking a lot, and the loss of those key players saddened me a little, BUT...

Vanquish DOES look like it's going to be fantastic. So...this could possibly be a win for us gamers. Capcom doesn't seem to be dropping the ball entirely, and just because some people left Capcom, doesn't mean they're done for either...so....more for us!

Posted on 09-26-10 04:20 AM, in Xbox 360 vs. Playstation3, we all knew it was coming. Link
Being as I'm jumping into this topic a bit late, forgive me if I repeat something and feel free to point it out.

Let's talk Harddrives for a sec. I'm not going to include the slim 360's because it's newer and due to it's youth, only has two harddrives available I believe, 4 gigs and 250 gigs, and I've only seen the 250 gigs sold separately, so the slim model simply needs time at this moment.

However, yes, the 360's HD was external(Slim model is considered internal.). The highest HD available was the 250. I know my store sells it for about a buck thirty. So yes, if you used up that 20 gig, even that 60 gig, and so on and so forth, one COULD purchase a HD with more space. However, this much space has only recently been available for the 360, as far as it's lifespan is concerned.

The PS3? Yes, it's internal, but it's still removable. If you have the older model, it's on the side pannel, and quite easy to slide out. The slimmer model? I know it's still removable, I just can't remember off the top of my head where. I know it's slightly different though. Wanna know something else? PS3 takes a standard laptop HD. SO, PS3, technically speaking, had MUCH more space available to it the moment the system hit the market. So, for all those thrifty people out there, who manage to scour the land for badass equipment, for only a fraction of the price, one could have not only increased their memory by a landslide, but could have done so at a cheaper price.

As far as graphics are concerned, I've dealt with the conclusion that 360 has better graphics. So, I ran an ity bity experiment. Because, it's not JUST the system and the cables. Television is also a factor. And so, I ran my PS3 and my brother's 360 on MY TV. HDMI cables and all. And the graphics were pretty close actually.

Then, we did the same on his TV, which is a thousand times more badass than mine, and...well, my PS3 looked a lot better. This discussion makes me want to try this again, and when I have the opportunity to, I'll try to post screenshots as well. But in any case, I'm going to say that PS3 is actually superior in graphics, as Sony has claimed all along. But I'm open to being hit with some extra facts if I'm incorrect here. In fact, you guys MUST enlighten me if I'm wrong on this one.

The titles were already touched upon. That's more of a "to each their own" mentality. For instance, I could have done without MGS4, to be honest. I know, it's blasphemy to proclaim that, but ehh. Unclarted was REALLY good, and GOW? I loved them, but truth be told, I never played ANY of them until they released the Collection for the first two, and I only did that due to the hype of GOW3. Don't get me wrong, my time was not wasted in the least bit, but I'm no GOW fangirl either. And I hated Killzone.

360...I can't stand Halo, and Mass Effect is as GOW. The little that I've gotten to play, I've thoroughly enjoyed, but I'm not dying to steal my nephew's 360 to play it. Gears, however... C'mon! Chainsaws!!!

Point is, I'm not too worried about the titles, I'm happy with what I've got on PS3, and I'm not going to argue with anyone's right to like or dislike certain games, so that's nothing too serious for me in deciding which system is better.

However, back to graphics, I will return with resources for the info, but PS3 has untaped potential. When the system was first released, that was my biggest gripe with it. "So, they're charging us half a grand NOW for the system of TOMORROW? That's bullshit!" Oh how I proclaimed that so....but, this is for all you PC gamers as well, but PS3 has the potential to run just as nicely as the PC (I whole heartedly believe that PC would easily change that once they see what's going on though.) whereas 360 is pretty much at the peak of it's graphics. But the next few years will show promise to graphics in gaming, generally, and right now, I think only PS3 and PC are up for the task. Do I think Microsoft could step up their game? most certainly, but not with 360. They'll have to come up with something new. Refute me on this one as well, especially since I need to check my sources on this one and share 'em with you guys, but I'll leave some food for thought at the moment while I go to bed. I have to be up in 3 and a half hours for work. XD

Hmmm...for the record, the fact that this thread isn't meant for talk about sex or the like, makes this all the more interesting.

You know, Bitmap, it's also interesting to hear that someone would prefer a shy girl, as well as your reasons why. The intuitive aspect that can be a part of a relationship like that would be awesome.

With that said, I am NOT your kind of girl. XD 15 minutes with me would make you put me in the "friend zone" forever, IF it took THAT long even. XD Which, in a sense, is a "turn on". Since we're not exactly talking about sex, there are different types of turn ons. For example, different things turn me on to different types of relationships. The guy who would blantantly not like me as more than a friend, but shares interests with me and could treat me like "one of the guys" is definitely the "best friend" kind of candidate, and let's face it, we all need those too.

On the other end of the spectrum, to put it as simply as possible, I like the guy that knows to back the hell off and let me handle myself. It's not even about independence for the sake of it either. It's about the thrill I get out of getting out of my own problems, is all. **shrugs** The fastest way to push me away is to drown me and pull the "I have to take care of you." bullshit. Guys I've dated have jumped into that sort of persona WAY too fast. It's not even about being too proud. It's just that it's an intimate thing to let someone do, and well, that comes later. I'm fairly confrontational, and "fairly" is an understatement perhaps. I also speak my mind, but...I like the guy that appreciates that while I'm blunt right from the get go, but is interesting enough to see that it's only the small surface still.

I do quirky things, like walk right up to the gentleman at school, whom I made the conscious decision to do this to prior to doing it, and telling him that he's going to lunch with me. **shrugs** I then proceeded to buy lunch, and when he had a wee bit of a tiff about it, told him that I merely scored myself two days with him like that, because all this meant was that lunch was on him the next day. I also reminded him that I would find him and beat him up if he didn't oblige. The grin that pursed his lips at that moment. That's the heart-stopping moment for me. That's what makes me do the things that I do. (See, the being direct in telling someone they're going to lunch with me, that's the first move. The moves that follow, however, are only made if after some inspection, it seems that the guy would be further intrigued, or whathaveyou. I tend to quite often put my head down and sigh as I've watched my boldness show itself in other girls who just don't do it right. XD)

I'd rather not ramble on and on, so I'll stop talking on that note. Very interesting topic here though. I can't wait to see the input of others.

Yeah, never been much for thread titles.

Anywho...being one screw short of a nervous breakdown, fussing over what to do for Halloween is quite the welcome distraction, so here goes. XD

Does anyone here still go out anymore? Or have/go to parties or anything? It sucks that it falls on a Sunday this year, but forget that. I'm bringing my costume to work with me, and hitting some houses right after work. I get told I look like I'm 12 all year 'round (Ask Cairoi, cuz for some reason, when I take a picture, I tend to look my age. But in action, face to face? Yeah...Xeios (and even FX now!) could attest to that as well. XD ) So I'm still getting my candy, damn it.

And then, on Monday, I'm hitting every drugstore I know of for their 75% off on all their left over candy. But for serious, I'm dressing up this year. We have some shindig going on at school, and then I have a party Saturday night, and attempting to host one on Friday night.

I'm being lazy though. My prom gown still fits me, so I went and bought myself a masquerade mask, looked up some kickass make-up trick thingies, will slap on some already owned jewlery, possibly buy a tiara thingie, and curl my hair. And voila. (I tend to be fairly good at hair and make-up, so I can get a prom look in under and hour. Of all the things I could wish to be half decent with, this is NOT one of them, but if it gets me out and gets some candy from strangers, then so be it. XD )

So, what is everyone else, if anyone, going out as? What are y'all doing next weekend? Cairoi and Xeios, if you guys see this, and I manage to pull something outta my hat, then you guys are coming to my house on Friday. XD
