This was posted in a Celtic festival newsletter e-mail. For anyone who doesn't get it, for hundreds of years the two have despised each other although they tolerate each other as best they can. Ale helps, I'm sure.

I don't know how true this thing is, but it's still funny.

"This is the transcript of the ACTUAL radio conversation between the
British and the Irish, off the coast of Kerry, Oct 98. Radio conversation
released by the Chief of Naval Operations 10-10-98:

IRISH: Please divert your course 15 degrees to the South, to avoid a
collision.

BRITISH: Recommend you divert your course 15 degrees to the North, to
avoid a collision.

IRISH: Negative. You will have to divert your course 15 degrees to
the South to avoid a collision.

BRITISH: This is the Captain of a British navy ship. I say again,
divert YOUR course.

IRISH: Negative. I say again, You will have to divert YOUR course.

BRITISH: THIS IS THE AIRCRAFT CARRIER HMS BRITIANNIA! THE SECOND LARGEST SHIP IN THE BRITISH ATLANTIC FLEET. WE ARE ACCOMPANIED BY THREE DESTROYERS, THREE CRUISERS, AND NUMEROUS SUPPORT VESSELS. I DEMAND THAT YOU CHANGE YOUR COURSE 15 DEGREES NORTH, I SAY AGAIN, THAT IS 15 DEGREES NORTH, OR COUNTER-MEASURES WILL BE UNDERTAKEN TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF THIS SHIP.

IRISH: We are a lighthouse. Your call."

Heh, one movie has too many bullet time shots (it got EXCESSIVE in Reloaded) and the other has too many instant replays (did we really need to see Ting do everything two more times a second after he did it?).

I'm going with Ting. Assuming the two are using only their martial arts skills, Morpheus would be too busy dropping in kicks from above really--really--slowly (for the full coolness effect) and Ting would just pull a stunt and beat Morpheus three times over (and from different angles).

Yes, I know, when it's a bullet time shot everyone slows down, but I'm just knocking on the shooting styles of both films and remarking on it as their fighting styles as well.

HA! Well, there's always a joke you haven't heard that everyone else has.

Here's another old one:

An Irishman, an Englishman and a Scotsman go into a pub. Each orders a pint of Guinness. Just as the bartender hands them over, three flies buzz down and land-- one, two, three-- in each of the pints.

The Englishman looks disgusted, pushes his pint away and demands another... the Scotsman picks out the fly, shrugs, and takes a long swallow.

The Irishman reaches in to the glass, grabs the fly between his fingers and shakes him as hard as he can, shouting 'Spit it out, ya bloody bastard! Spit it out!'

Another of these things taken from LiveJournal.

When was the last time you stood one the shoreline with you feet in the water and let the sand run through your toes?
- More than likely some time last year.

When was the last time you listened to the wind?
- Some time last week.

When was the last time you sang at the top of your voice to God?
- When I was 8 and in the church choir, but for singing at the "top of my voice," Sunday, watching a Boggards show.

When was the last time you laughed so much that your sides hurt?
- Right now watching "Thank God You're Here!"

When was the last time you felt so helpless that you prayed with all your might that that person would be made well?
- I feel helpless often, but when it comes to hoping against hope that someone gets well was just before my boyfriend's cat had to be put to sleep after we'd just realized he'd come down with jaundice.

When was the last time you drove in the car without any music on?
- An hour ago, but I wasn't driving.

When was the last time you spent a weekend with your parents and family?
- It's been a while since I really did anything with my parents, both of them at least.

When was the last time you watched the sun go down?
- Saturday, leaving the Renaissance faire.

When was the last time you gave someone a hug?
- Not more than a couple hours ago, hugging Zoso.

When was the last time you pushed yourself in exersize and then felt the adrenaline kick in afterwards?
- Friday morning.

When was the last time you lay on the grass and looked up at the clouds in the blue sky?
- Last semester when I got home after having a hellish week. It's those occasional days that I lay on my lawn when I feel in complete bliss.

When was the last time you thought about how amazing it is that flowers smell nice?
- I don't think I've ever really thought about that.

When was the last time you drove within the speed limit?
- Last year, when I drove Zoso's mom's car around the neighborhood. But again, I don't drive.

When was the last time you looked around and realised the color that surrounded you?
- ???

When was the last time you said something and really meant it?
- I tend to mean what I say. Oh right, this quiz was meant for idiot MySpacers who never mean anything.

When was the last time you actually really really thought about how great it was to be ALIVE?
- Good grief. Well, this last weekend was pretty good reminder of how life goes.

So after going to faire this past weekend I can remark on a few things.

- I met the new guy and he's really sweet. While Phil was cool and funny, Vinny's VERY personable and approachable. Think of him as a cute and breakable Shelby that you could put in your pocket and take with you everywhere.

I saw his very first performance and improv with the group. Both Richard and Shelby were very excited that he was getting to sign people's posters and getting to know people.

- There's several areas where there are just random performers, though they tend to be overshadowed by the people in the drink and food stalls yelling to come buy from them.

- There's almost no reason to leave Rogue's Reef this year. Sound & Fury, Boggards, Belles, and Wives all perform on the same stage. Moonie and Broon! also have their own things going, but it's the exact same bits they've been doing for the past 5 years. Still funny, though, of course.

- Food prices seem to have risen a bit.

For those of you who can't wait to hit faire this year, here's a little fan vid someone drew up:

I remember when there was this phone company commercial where this guy was browsing the 'Net and he had apparently reached said page which read something along the lines of reaching the end of the Internet.

And then I remember saying to myself, "That was A LOT of porn to burn through."

I guess it was to illustrate that by choosing their company you could get through all those donkey show sites faster. *Shrugs*

Christina snuck in these huge sandwiches for us. Kind of funny eating these things with both hands while watching Broon!'s show and having him look over every now and then.

Gee, was Bill (Cap'n Black) drunk? I dunno, dropping those Guinness in one shot looks like it was affecting him.

Seriously, I've had the "Kratos Fan" banner since I discovered I could ask Nagis to make it for me. So

I got really into the game a couple years ago and have obsessed over it since. I did start a few threads some time ago, but I guess they've disappeared.

I unlocked the secret costumes, even. Favorite being the Dairy Bastard.

The Sword of Artemis.

The Army of Hades pretty much fight any enemies in your vicinity. Can come in real handy when you're in the conveyor belt room with all the harpies among other places (not to spoil the game if you haven't played).

I remember while I was playing the game the first time in the battle near the end, I kept screaming, "Hug your family, Kratos! Hug 'em, damn it!!" He looks so friggin' sweet when he hugs them too, just before he gets back to the ass kicking.

Yes. Constantly. (There was more, but... well, see the edit)

Have you ever snuck into a movie just to watch the trailers?

Edit: Damn it, the question above keeps changing.
