Yeah, it's just a parody. Obviously compared with Heroes, the show would knock it out of the park, but seeing as there aren't many Heroes-related comics out there (yet), just sharing this one for now.

The first strip was pretty funny, though the humor seemed to deteriorate from there. Well, either way, they're cute and I like the idea.

At the Heroes panel that I went to at the last Wizard World con, they still wouldn't reveal how. I guess it's supposed to be a mystery, despite most people already concluding that he simply eats them.

I had a theory that he cuts open his head and tinkers with the brain bits that he adds from other people (since he used to be a watch-fixer), but he doesn't have Claire's regenerative power, so that's out.

I had posted this in a few Heroes communities a couple months back, after last Wizard World. It's still pretty cool:

EDIT: While going through my Flickr account for pictures from Wizard World, I re-discovered this:

Tee hee hee.

Judge Sues Cleaner for $65 Million Over Pants
By LUBNA TAKRURI

WASHINGTON (May 4) -- The Chungs, immigrants from South Korea, realized their American dream when they opened their dry-cleaning business seven years ago in the nation's capital. For the past two years, however, they've been dealing with the nightmare of litigation: a $65 million lawsuit over a pair of missing pants.

Jin Nam Chung, Ki Chung and their son, Soo Chung, are so disheartened that they're considering moving back to Seoul, said their attorney, Chris Manning, who spoke on their behalf.

"They're out a lot of money, but more importantly, incredibly disenchanted with the system," Manning said. "This has destroyed their lives."

The lawsuit was filed by a District of Columbia administrative hearings judge, Roy Pearson, who has been representing himself in the case.

Pearson did not return phone calls and e-mails Wednesday from The Associated Press requesting comment.

According to court documents, the problem began in May 2005 when Pearson became a judge and brought several suits for alteration to Custom Cleaners in Northeast Washington, a place he patronized regularly despite previous disagreements with the Chungs. A pair of pants from one suit was not ready when he requested it two days later, and was deemed to be missing.

Pearson asked the cleaners for the full price of the suit: more than $1,000.

But a week later, the Chungs said the pants had been found and refused to pay. That's when Pearson decided to sue.

Manning said the cleaners made three settlement offers to Pearson. First they offered $3,000, then $4,600, then $12,000. But Pearson wasn't satisfied and expanded his calculations beyond one pair of pants.

Because Pearson no longer wanted to use his neighborhood dry cleaner, part of his lawsuit calls for $15,000 -- the price to rent a car every weekend for 10 years to go to another business.

"He's somehow purporting that he has a constitutional right to a dry cleaner within four blocks of his apartment," Manning said.

But the bulk of the $65 million comes from Pearson's strict interpretation of D.C.'s consumer protection law, which fines violators $1,500 per violation, per day. According to court papers, Pearson added up 12 violations over 1,200 days, and then multiplied that by three defendants.

Much of Pearson's case rests on two signs that Custom Cleaners once had on its walls: "Satisfaction Guaranteed" and "Same Day Service."

Based on Pearson's dissatisfaction and the delay in getting back the pants, he claims the signs amount to fraud.

Pearson has appointed himself to represent all customers affected by such signs, though D.C. Superior Court Judge Neal Kravitz, who will hear the June 11 trial, has said that this is a case about one plaintiff, and one pair of pants.

Sherman Joyce, president of the American Tort Association, has written a letter to the group of men who will decide this week whether to renew Pearson's 10-year appointment. Joyce is asking them to reconsider.

Chief Administrative Judge Tyrone Butler had no comment regarding Pearson's reappointment.

The association, which tries to police the kind of abusive lawsuits that hurt small businesses, also has offered to buy Pearson the suit of his choice.

And former National Labors Relations Board chief administrative law judge Melvin Welles wrote to The Washington Post to urge "any bar to which Mr. Pearson belongs to immediately disbar him and the District to remove him from his position as an administrative law judge."

"There has been a significant groundswell of support for the Chungs," said Manning, adding that plans for a defense fund Web site are in the works.

To the Chungs and their attorney, one of the most frustrating aspects of the case is their claim that Pearson's gray pants were found a week after Pearson dropped them off in 2005. They've been hanging in Manning's office for more than a year.

Pearson claims in court documents that his pants had blue and red pinstripes.

"They match his inseam measurements. The ticket on the pants match his receipt," Manning said.

Talk about your frivilous lawsuits--this man should NOT be judging the cases of others.

Shamefully, I didn't take any pictures of the group (mostly just S&F and Boggards), but it was a really fun go at faire.

Saw a few groups I hadn't seen the last time and met some cool people.

So ... anyone for Koroneburg?

Sixth-grader admits stabbing ducks with pencil
POSTED: 1:07 p.m. EDT, May 4, 2007

WICHITA, Kansas (AP) -- A sixth-grader stabbed to death a mother duck and two ducklings that had nested near a school, distressing the other children and alarming officials who said the boy needs mental health treatment.

Students at Wilbur Middle School had named the mother duck Lucy and were monitoring her and her brood, making sure no one disturbed the nest in a grassy creek bed. Their mutilated bodies -- stabbed with a pencil -- were found this week.

An announcement over the public address system led the boy to admit the killings, officials said. They said he had also talked about the act to classmates and didn't understand why it was wrong.

The boy, whose name was not released, was suspended Wednesday. His return to the school will hinge on a hearing.

School officials were responding "the way we do whenever we believe that a child might be a risk to himself or others," said Liz McGinness, who coordinates the district's mental health crisis team.

She said his parents were being told they must seek outside mental health care. "We really don't mince words on this," she said. "We know that animal cruelty is a very serious, significant behavior."

No decision has been made on possible criminal charges. Killing mallard ducks is illegal this time of year, and even in hunting season, the way they were killed would be illegal, officials said.

Mark Rankin, assistant director of law enforcement for the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks, said the boy may not be charged because of his age. A hunting violation charge could bring an adult up to seven days in jail and a $250 fine, while animal cruelty carries up to a year in jail and $10,000 in fines, he said.

Kris Meckenstock said his seventh-grade son helped monitor the nest and "just can't believe somebody could be so mean."

"By the same token, I think that kid obviously needs help," Meckenstock added. "My thought is, we need to look a little bit further and find out why somebody would have those tendencies."

Wilbur students and staff held a ceremony Thursday "to share their grief for these animals," McGinness said.

If I'm not mistaken killing small animals and not finding anything wrong with it is a SERIOUS warning sign that someone is a sociopath.

A few people whom I've shared this story with have demanded that the kid be locked up as there is nothing that can be done to keep a sociopath from evolving into murdering people.

Any thoughts?

Woohoo, another fan.

New episodes are Monday nights at 9 p.m. (at least on the Pacific), probably 8 Central time.

You can also watch the latest episodes on NBC.com (problem is, if you want to be surprised they only have the last 5 episodes and the first one).

There's also new information and discussion in my Hero Kitties thread, also in this forum.

This warms my heart.

I'm happy.

I'm so nuts for this show, while I was at the LA County Museum of Natural History a few times recently, I stood in the spot where Masi Oka (Hiro) stood while looking at the Takezo Kensei (as they film the show almost entirely in Los Angeles) and I melted.

They film so many things in there (in Spiderman when Peter gets bitten by the spider, etc), but I've never gotten really excited about it.

I kind of like the later developments with Micah, but he seemed to get more annoying over the course of the show.

My favorites have always been Hiro and Ando, HRG (a.k.a. Bennet), Isaac, Nathan and Mohinder. Matt was up there, but he sort of shrank away.

I don't like referring to only the people who have powers as "the heroes." It's "Heroes," not "SUPER Heroes." Anyone can be a hero, damnit!

So I haven't updated for a couple weekends. I say it all the time nowadays, but it's all too true: where does that time go? Time is just flying by like cra-zay.

Last weekend:
- Went to the Metal Jam 2007 with Zoso. Lots of positive energy and noise you could head bang to.
- Renaissance faire with WhiteRose, GuardianOni, and few of their friends from the university Pagan club. We met up with Elara, Venomouslobster, Pockets, Makura, FilteredSight and several other friends. Lots of fun. Some pictures posted in my update thread in Entertainment. Dinner at Famima (thanks, Rosy!!).

- Voidcrush had another gig at a bar in Bellflower.

This weekend:
- Hung around the comic book store on Free Comic Book Day.
- Played A LOT of Final Fantasy XII.

Will have to see what I'll be doing next weekend.

It was funny; at the panel I went to at Wizard World that was thrown by the writers and creators (Tim Kring, Tim Salle, Jeph Loeb, and many others were there), they had asked if any of us wanted to see any of the characters bumped off.

I shouted ...
Spoiler:
"Well Simone already kicked the bucket!"

Someone blurted out, "Sylar!" and she was immediately boo'd and hiss'd at.

I hate to say it, but things like this get e-mailed around the 'net for years and nothing's come of them other than a few clogged systems from passing the announcement around right along with the chain letters and joke mails.

Snopes has a retort to it every year: http://www.snopes.com/politics/gasoline/nogas.asp

While the idea sounds noble enough, it's an urban legend that doesn't really hit the gas companies where it hurts.

Sorry.

Meh, some of them do need to be un-Stickied (unstuck?), but often the reason is to keep people from starting a new thread for little things.

Perhaps it is time for the Random Photos thread to bite the dust, however.

Update on my update:

Parents : My mom had her surgery a couple days ago (after it was postponed from April 20). She's at home, resting, for the next week.

My dad finally had the WoundVac removed, which is a good sign. Most of the skin on his back has grown back and now the wound looks like a large picked scab. Just needs to grow in those last few layers. He's eating a lot healthier and he's lost nearly 100 lbs since January.

Boyfriend : He's still around.

Friends : As cheesy as it sounds, I take this from my journal that I carry around with me, "While I don't have many friends, I'm truly blessed for the ones I have."

Shame on me for being too shy to get to know people.

School : My magazine is going to print some time this month. I had written a story about Paganism and the misconceptions the public has of it. Elara, WhiteRose and GuardianOni are interviewed.

Still don't know what I'm doing about the math class that I need in order to transfer out.

The band : They've been having a few gigs lately and keeping busy. Still working as the drum tech/photographer/roadie.

Con season!! : Ah, my favorite time of year is just around the corner. I have Star Wars Celebration later this month, Anime Expo, Labyrinth of Jareth Masquerade (still need to make my costumes. DAMN!) shortly after and then ... COMIC-CON!!!

Maybe Lebowski Fest in August. It still hasn't been planned yet.

There is that little Rocky Con coming up in July being thrown by my former cast (and normally I would be there), but it's the same weekend as Comic-Con and therefore not as important.

Faire season : Since Southern is drawing to a close, might go to Koroneburg when it starts up.

Misc : Been playing A LOT of FFXII. There is no exaggeration for this. You know those people you make fun of who play too much WoW? Apply that to me with FFXII, just I'm not talking with people who aren't running on a CPU.

HA! Hahahahahahahaha!! Now you see what we Los Angeles/Long Beach people put up with all the time (that's our channel and news people).

They report on the stupidest shit ALL the time (mostly on party scenes and anything to do with sex). What's worse are the people who report in the morning (Good Day L.A.):

Is there an ad for Heroes at the bottom of everyone else's page? *is giddy*

Damn did I sound bitchy in that post. I'm sorry, Elara.

Let's see, that was two years ago? There wasn't anything drastically different about me then compared with now.

At long last, a female will be the lead protagonist of one of the epic FFs (I don't count that little 3D paper doll game you all like to call X-2 as a serious epic).

Trailer: http://www.square-enix.co.jp/e306/titles/fabula/ff13/e3trailer.html

So joining the ranks with Cloud, Squall, Tidus and Vaan (the latter two almost don't qualify as epic themselves) will be Lightning:

Not to sound like a feminazi while writing this post, it's just dynamic when something like comes out.

EDIT: Yeah, I know there's a thread for this way back when, but this is more of a refresher and I figured what the hell.
