I honestly don't remember. Since there were no humans around, but they were able to scan and mimic mammals (the Decepticons copied dinosaur bones), it could just as easily be before or after, so long as it's in a desert with no humans around.

So after the Simpsons ended and I was busy on the computer I forgot to change the channel, and ended up sitting through an episode of TMZ. Oh how I love to hate that show and all other things like it.

Anyway, the paparazzi happened to find Nadya Suleman.

Here's the video they posted: http://www.tmz.com/videos?autoplay=true&mediaKey=7c3212b9-a9f7-4376-85ef-8fb3af9f4594

A few of the highlights:
- One of the photographers joked that she could always ask Salma Hayek to help her breast feed her kids. She answered, "No, I got enough."

- She spend most of the video covering her face and at one point shouts, "I'm not a celebrity!!" You know, this after hiring a publicist, touring every TV network to be interviewed by their spokesperson of choice (collecting millions in appearance fees), and starting a website asking for money and well wishes.

Which brings me to the most amusing point...

- When asked if she'd be willing to do a reality show, she answered, "That would be exploitation..." *puase* "... of my kids!"

Yeah, I know we're pretty much fulfilling what her newly acquired "talent agency" wants by talking about her, but damn it, will someone please take those kids away and distribute them to infertile couples?

So I've got my midnight IMAX screening tickets, do you?

Also some clips from the movie have made it online (Ozymandias):

There's another here (Nite Owl and Comedian, briefly): http://www.totalfilm.com/news/world-exclusive-watchmen-clip

And another one here (Rorschach and what appears to be the second Nite Owl): http://movies.sky.com/new-watchmen-clip

EDIT: I suddenly realized rewatching the first clip that the man with the glasses is supposed to be the second Nite Owl.

I was concentrating more on Ozymandias, and I'd forgotten that Nite Owl went to see him.

I should have also noticed that the video was titled "Dan visits Veidt," but then again I've revolved my life around discovering the obvious.

I feel like an infomercial saying this...

But wait THERE'S MORE!!

Nadya Suleman's mother hasn't been making payments on their house. She's about $25,000 behind and they're about to lose their home. Angela Suleman had said that when the octuplets come home, she "wouldn't be there," which apparently was just an empty threat, but now this is somewhat serious.

The new talent agency that supposedly picked her up as a client is now denying they have taken her on a client.

And to top it off, her $2 million deal for her story may have fallen through. TLC doesn't want her.

Her church is denying that they're helping her in any way.

Suleman's mother had an interview yesterday:

For the love of whatever deity to whom you sacrifice goats and firstborn, STOP COMPARING ALL GEEK GIRLS TO OLIVIA MUNN!

We do not aspire to be her. She's the "hot girl" on a show that mildly touches on subjects of interest to geeks and THAT'S ALL.

Jillian Barberie doesn't represent all meteorologists. Just sayin'...

So 8 different guys have since stepped forward claiming to be the father of the baby, and to save face a judge has issued a media black-out on this story.

No one is allowed to publish the paternity results or anything new.

Judge rules to keep young father's story secret
By PAISLEY DODDS – 20 hours ago

LONDON (AP) — You can read the tantalizing tale but not its ending, a British judge has ruled.
A media blackout was imposed Wednesday on reporting new details in the case of a 13-year-old boy who reportedly became father.
Headlines around the world last week screamed "Father at 13," describing how the boy fathered a healthy newborn girl with his 15-year-old girlfriend — a story that sparked debate over Britain's high teen pregnancy rate.
Then the plot thickened.
Two other boys claimed they could also be the father, prompting 13-year-old Alfie to submit to a paternity test that is pending.
But under Wednesday's ruling, imposed by High Court Justice Florence Baron, journalists are prohibited from reporting any new details of the case — including any information that could prove or disprove Alfie's paternity.
Following a court hearing in private, a statement was read to reporters explaining the judge's reasons for making the order.
It said part of the reason was the young ages of the mother and father, and that "the private and family life of the mother and her baby has been disrupted to such an extent that the judge was concerned about the mother and baby being unable to live a normal family life." The judge was also reportedly concerned about the privacy of Alfie and the other potential fathers.
Reporting restrictions are increasingly common in Britain where judges can impose blanket bans on publishing details of cases.
In a past terror trial, a judge tried to impose a ban on reporting one of the suspect's sentences until all his alleged coconspirators were tried. The restriction was aimed at not prejudicing jurors but was eventually challenged and lifted.
In a current terrorism case, a British judge has barred journalists from calling it a retrial.
Alfie's publicist, Max Clifford, said the situation was strange.
"No one is allowed to say anything new," he said.

She's the female host on Attack of the Show. Outside of the fact that she appears on a show that addresses movies and video games that might be interesting to geeks, she's far from the epitome of geek girls everywhere.

People are more interested in getting her to do things full of sexual innuendo (or otherwise try to get her naked), as she knows very little about comics, games, geek films, etc. Examples:
Eating a hot dog: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9kPT7vME6qs
Failing at doing the Truffle Shuffle: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXgJ7X5c8cI

Pretty much because there aren't many "famous" geek girls out there, people constantly make comments of how geeky girls are trying to be like Olivia Munn.

It's sort of like saying intellectuals are trying to be Alex Trebek.

Jillian Barberie is an L.A. weathergirl, who pretty much sits and gossips through the morning news rather than report anything of value. Example of a typical broadcast: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A5DujAv_aFo

And getting a round-the-clock baby service that's running on donations. Twelve people taking care of her kids for her.

Well, so far it seems the American media who flourish under the First Amendment are reporting this was all a hoax.

Stories are pouring in from several American syndicates saying the 15-year-old
s grandmother wanted the family to cash in on a sensational story, told the girl to claim the 13-year-old was the father for the mere shock value. Apparently the Sun paid them a fuck-ton of money for the story and a bunch of networks are trying to get rights for documentaries.

Articles 2: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,495687,00.html

EDIT: So I was reading up on young fathers. Apparently little Alfie Patten is the SECOND youngest father on record. The youngest was 12: Sean Stewart of Sharnbrook, England. His 15-year-old girlfriend had their child in 1998.

I actually reread it yesterday, just for shits, since I read it like 8 years ago and needed to be reminded of a lot of the little things that happened.

I'll be honest, while watching the trailers, I saw some things here and there and didn't quite remember if they were in the book. Now that it's fresh in my mind, I can tell you a lot of the similarities are uncanny.

Now as to whether you should read it or see it first, I really can't tell.

I didn't read 300 until after seeing the movie, and I still appreciated the film just the same. Same with several of the Sin City books. They were surprisingly close and reading the books afterward helped me appreciate the movies based on them.

Now, since this is an Alan Moore book, I guess there are some advantages to seeing the film first. If you were mad about the deviations the Harry Potter movies took from the books, you'll be PISSED with From Hell, League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, and to a certain extent V for Vendetta. True they've gotten better as they went along... I take that back LXG was awful, but yeah the movies tend to greatly deviate.

Moore HATES any movie based on his work no matter how close to the original it is, and he's already voiced his disapproval of this movie.

Now what was I getting at?

I think reading it is good, but you might get mad with the variations and things they had to leave out for time and to prevent confusion.

I guess it all depends on whether or not you want to be surprised in the movie theater.

EDIT: A scene of Silk Spectre II and the Nite Owl helping break Rorschach out of jail made it online: http://splashpage.mtv.com/2009/02/21/check-out-the-exclusive-watchmen-clip-from-spoilers/

Brandon's aunt has been reading the Twilight books and getting all excited about them. Apparently she went to the midnight screening of it and couldn't get over how "adorable" all the preteen girls were with how they were wearing "Team Edward" and "Team Jacob" (I think those are the characters' names) shirts.

I can't get into that crap. Although I haven't read any of the Twilight books, I'm quite sure I'd hate them, just like I heartily disliked the Sookie Stackhouse stories.

Anyway, regarding Cirque du Freak, I completely forgot to mention it, but the whole mode of transforming someone into a vampire could not be even lamer (even... gay)---the vampire (played by John C. Reilly) and the kid stand facing each other, their hands in front of them, fingers pressed against each others. John C. Reilly pulls back and quickly pricks the boy's fingers with his nails, and they "exchange" blood this way.

Suddenly he's a half-vampire.

Good god is it fucking stupid.

My boyfriend and I waited outside the Street Fighter IV launch party in L.A. last Thursday, which was practically shut down by the fire marshal so not many people were able to get in after the party'd been open an hour. We were standing behind Adam Sessler when he decided to say fuck it and go home.

Anyway, I'm desperate to play as El Fuerte. He looks squirrely.

Wasn't that the show that was canceled before it was even aired and fans wrote in to save it?

I haven't seen any episodes, but when I heard the premise I just wasn't interested. A house full of hot girls who know everything, can go everything, and it stars Duckshoot? Eh, not my thing.

Since I didn't watch many movies last year that would ever end up getting the Academy's respect, I didn't watch the Oscars this year.

After just now checking the winners list, I think it's awesome that Slumdog got so many awards, especially with how Bollywood influenced it is. I was expecting The Curious Case of Benjamin Button to completely pull a Titanic and scoop everything up, but seriously, that's great.

What's this? Heath Ledger won best supporting? Really? Oh good grief. I mean, god save you, Heath, but REALLY?

Yeah, from what I've read, even Olivia Munn isn't sure why she was hired when she isn't that knowledgeable on the topics. In the end, they let her lead off on topics like judging people's MySpace profiles and talking about sex with another woman they bring on there from time to time.

Meh...

When will this blasted month end already? I spent the whole weekend doing nothing. What a waste.

Oh I most certainly agree, especially if you toss in The Patriot and Roar (a fantasy/epic show he did for Fox that was canceled after less than a season. I LOVED that show). But if he were alive, he probably wouldn't have even been nominated.

This is something I can't stand with the Academy any more.

Yeah, a lot of people deserve Oscars for various movies, and often they end up robbed because someone else who didn't win an Oscar the year before was nominated so they finally got it this year. And the cycle repeats itself.

Nicole Kidman doesn't win one for Moulin Rouge, so she gets it for The Hours. Sean Penn doesn't get one for I Am Sam, but then wins it for Mystic River.

They keep pulling this sentimentalist-bias crap.

Now, should Heath's posthumous Oscar be taken away? No. Personally, I'm glad to see an action film role was even nominated. Usually the Academy steers clear of action, comedy, horror, or good light-hearted films. Not to say that they always do, I mean, Gladiator did win Best Pic. Anyway, I'm pleased that one less atypical Hollywood drama/obvious-grab-for-an-Oscar didn't win.
