| It's kinda funny in a sad way. Gap is debuting their "new denim line" with this throwback advertisement to 1969, when the company was founded in San Francisco.
Denim has always had this image of being the all-American fabric, and their ads for this '69 throwback seem meant to make you think about their roots, their humble beginnings, when America was carving out a new identity, and most importantly not about what's going on across the pond. Or maybe I'm just reading into it. |

| Indeed. Semester's starting in 2 weeks and I've got work to do already for the paper.
The school keeps churning out issues at the same time. With the state of the economy, the California State University system went ahead and raised tuition fees 20%. It's wonderful to get e-mails and text messages saying that if I don't send the $400 within a week, I'll be "disenrolled." Ugh... |

| No, I get it. Why pay one man $20 to landscape your yard when you can pay an illegal or a neighborhood kid $5?
What's more Gap and Levi's are falling on saying, "Well, at least we're providing jobs for people in a third world country." It's a dilemma above all things. Make it here and spend more doing so, probably getting the unions involved, but you're supplying Americans with jobs. OR make it elsewhere thereby subsidizing another country, bypassing many restrictions and regulations one would have to go through here, and in so doing cut the amount spent on the overhead, increasing one's profits. | Fuck people who don't throw away soiled diapers and just leave them in parking lots, parks, and other public places!! Seems like every time I get out of my car in a lot, there's almost always a discarded used diaper on the ground nearby. There was one today not 20 feet from a friggin' trashcan.
And another one... fuck the kids hanging out outside the pharmacy harassing people to buy candy. Interaction went like this: *Around 9:30 p.m., boyfriend and I walk up the Rite Aid entrance. Teenage-looking blond, slightly overweight, in short shorts swaggers up, rather drunkenly* "HEY!!" She starts, almost as though she's accusing us of something. "You wanna buy some candy for my football team?" Us: "Sorry." Her: "Oh come on!! Help us out!!" Us, still walking toward the door: "Sorry." Another girl, no less trashy: "It's tasty!" Me: "Sorry." *They start yammering back and forth about us being dicks. We go in and buy ice cream and come out while the first girl's talking to an older guy like she's propositioning him for sex. No exaggeration. She started acting like a drunk hooker.* We get in the car and I look up as she shouting at someone more than 50 feet away to come over and buy candy. That song keeps getting played wherever I go. It's all over the radio. Stores are playing it on their regular audio cycles. It randomly comes up on TV. Friends have her CD and are blasting this song. Not a day has gone by this summer that I didn't hear this song, even in pieces.

This is just one disappointment after another it seems. King of the Hill, My Name is Earl (even if TBS does pick it up, I don't have cable...), I mean, with Reno 911! there was always watching it online or at someone's house, but for it to be gone entirely?
