Sadly, I haven't been that intuitive lately. In fact I've been running in the complete opposite, mind-rotting direction. I've been... playing Gaia Online again. I'm actually incredibly ashamed about it, but the MMORPG they created since I was pressured into starting my account is kind of addictive. Anyway, I've been borrowing my dad's car to go to the library to get DVDs and graphic novels, and when we can scrape together the money for gas or if we hitch a ride with a friend we go to whatever free things are going on on the weekend. Lately, it's been free Shakespeare in the park performances all over L.A. county and outdoor film screenings. |

They put out a new trailer:
I'll admit it, I snickered a few times reading the captions between clips. |

Hm, I can think of hundreds of smells, but sounds are a bit more difficult for me. I guess because many of the sounds I can think of are ones I hear year-round.
I suppose I'll go with techno music or high pitched female Japanese girl voices. Tells me I'm at an anime convention, and the most sensory-overloaded ones happen in the summer around here. What's something you used to dislike, but that you love now? |

Either way, that's a new vote in the fearful FLOHPA.
I'm trying to ween myself off the Gaia boob and write Yelp reviews again. Something a bit more constructive in the long run. |

Jesus fucking....
So, when I went to Vegas back in December, it was to go to a funeral for my grandmother's brother-in-law. My parents and I brought my grandmother. Mom and her cried, I shed a few tears despite not really knowing him. This deceased fellow's daughter (my mom's cousin) and her husband turned up this past weekend at my grandmother's unattended home and just started taking things. They were also getting ready to hire a truck to make off with one of the bedroom sets, specifically the one that belongs to my mother, but I guess my dad's forceful tone with the husband convinced them to not try it. What the fuck... And people wonder why I spend major holidays (except Christmas, that's for Mom and Dad) with Brandon's family every year. |

I'm MerryRogue on DA.
I really only started my account so I could comment on and favorite things I found on there and follow a few artists, so my photos aren't all that great. Actually I should post more since I got a better camera and it'd finally knock some of those photos off my recent deviations page. |

If he was celebrating the same way this time last year he could have also been that friend on "Blossom."

Back from Vegas. Saw lots of cool stuff: Trekkies, Trekkers, mermaids, pinball hall of fame, casinos, and stuff. Good weekend thus far.
Saw a few meteorites while in the desert (right after the lightning storm), but here in California it's too overcast to watch the meteor shower. |

Harry Potter. I read every book as they came out, starting in 7th grade, and was somehow ignorant of the fanbase until I got to college. No one else seemed to be reading them in middle or high school. I still have yet to read anything after Goblet of Fire or see any of the movies past Prisoner of Azkaban, and I doubt I'll ever pick it up again.
It was just ruined for me when suddenly everyone I knew who was into HP was raving about being a bigger fan. One of the worst was my best friend in high school who read my copy of Order of the Phoenix at my house while I was still working through it (though busy doing other things) and then finished it and wouldn't shut up about it and how she was therefore a better fan, despite having ONLY read Order of the Phoenix. On top of that, it was becoming more and more apparent that HP was a screaming 13-year-old fangirls sort of fandom and in the end I just began to despise it. What is the last thing you read that dramatically surprised you in some way and why? (Last edited by Rogue on 08-14-11 01:15 PM) |

Yeah, WHAT THE FUCK? It's been overcast in SoCal during almost every meteor shower for the past 3 years. Same thing happened with the Super Moon (thankfully we got a picture just before the clouds rolled in) and a couple lunar eclipses.
The only reason we were able to get a clear view of the Quadratids was because we were in the middle of the desert in Arizona in the middle of the night. The thing about Washington and Oregon in regards to California is they're sort of like San Francisco's opinion of Los Angeles. The opinion of the south continues to get lower as you go higher. San Francisco thinks its better than L.A. The areas above San Francisco (Humboldt, Redding, Eureka, Santa Rosa, etc) think they're better than them. Oregon (specifically Portland) is of the mind that they're better than that group, and Washington (Seattle, etc) believes it's better than the whole lot. A lot of people feel this is a hipster thing since the rank of hipster increases as you go north on the westcoast, it's been like this is far as I can remember. Every now and then a list will go out that will piss everyone off about L.A. being the most unlivable city and Seattle being the best. |

Yeah, the whole thing came up as a joke when Stephen Colbert said he wasn't sure if he's called Oregon "California's Canada" or "Washington's Mexico."
Funny thing, apparently this friend of mine, who lives in Cerritos, is yet again bitching about San Francisco being better than L.A. on Facebook. A week ago she was at my house throwing a fit about this mutual acquaintance from the Bay Area who always goes on about it being better than here. It's funny how serious the topic becomes. I wonder what would happen if these wing-nut conservatives actually manage to break SoCal away from NorCal and create their own state, like they've been trying to do lately. I could see it being financially stronger, but it would definitely be redder and would need to figure out what to do for water since I'm certain the north would cut off the L.A. aqueduct and any other water sources the Southland pulls from just to survive. No telling what would happen to the undocumented immigrants. |

Probably moscato (Barefoot Moscato seems to be a lot of what Lee and I drink these days). There've been a few wines that I never really found out what they were or what vintage and they were pretty good. Not much of a wine connoisseur.
