| Went by the Dollar Bookstore after lunch and picked up a copy of Carrie Fisher's memoir "Wishful Drinking." It's pretty thin and the font type is HUGE. Should probably get through it by tomorrow.
So far it's pretty much her going, "Yeah, both my parents were famous. I didn't really have a great grasp on reality. That makes me different and therefore more intuitive than you." |

| It's the mashing together of Sheldon and Amy, two characters from CBS' The Big Bang Theory.
In last night's new episode, Sheldon finally, officially asked Amy to be his girlfriend. Though it's doubtful they'll even hold hands, kiss, or do anything more than they were already doing (which was pretty much being stimulating conversation for one another), I'm still thrilled that it's official. The funny thing is the writers created the name mash-up before Amy was even seen on the show: Just for fun, here's their first date from a much earlier episode (Penny's just there as a chaperone): I'm not usually a shipper, but I think they're cute together. | My grandmother's over right now and I have to watch her. Since Brandon and I are car-less, he's in the garage pumping up the tires on my bike and riding over to Church's to get my grandmother some fried chicken.
I've fallen into one of those ruts of boredom and inactivity that while I know I should be doing something productive (specifically things I was asked to do, like write an article for a friend and edit something for another), I can't bring myself to do them. Fuck. No. I feel more like being a sack of shit and just laying around, reading nothing of any real substance. Or sock-skating. Yeah, I think I'll sock skate for now. I'll lay around some more later. EDIT: OK, bored again. Started working on my 101 Things To Do in 1001 Days list, and I'm still stuck not sure what other goals to include. There's way too much travel on there. Meatballs and alfredo sounds like the ultimate comfort food for me. 
Had this for dessert last night for my friend Marty's birthday: 
We literally caravan'd down to Mission Viejo, an hour or so south, to get ice cream. The above is the "Fake Chicken Dinner" with Zagnut bars for chicken strips, vanilla ice cream and caramel syrup for mashed potatoes and gravy, and mint and cinnamon balls for peas and carrots. Everyone else got sundaes. |

| Regarding the blackout, I was posting when the electricity finally came back on. Only real problem for me outside of not having internet was that I was setting up to make soup and had to hold a lighted match to the gas on the stove since it has an electric start.
Yeah, that completely sucks, and I keep hearing more stories like it, especially regarding businesses like Best Buy. Too many people wanting to get a jump on Black Friday, which is ultimately unfair to employees and consumers alike. Now while you have people like Brandon, his mom, and me who tend to have our Thanksgiving meal and then go hiking or something (sooooo sad I won't be in Arizona for Turkey Day  ) and to people that translates as, "See? You totally could just be shopping and that proves people don't NEED the whole day!" I still call bullshit. People should have the whole day with family or at least to rest.
Anyway, more science-related cat macros. 'Cause those are fun. 
At the moment, I'm watching my grandmother who keeps complaining that there's something wrong with our plumbing as the floor is all wet. It's wet from HER URINE. She's constantly leaking and won't change her diaper until it's literally pulling past her knees from how heavy it is, and there's no helping her change them for her.
We go through this every time she's here. So now there's guest towels all over the bathroom floor, leading down the hallway and into her room. She never fails to grab the good ones to throw over her puddles. In the meantime, whenever I try to do something in a room alone, she bothers me. And now that I've resigned myself to sitting in the dining room with the laptop in case she wants something or wants to talk, she's retreated into her dark bedroom to sit and stare at the wall. I REEEEEEEEAALLLLLLY need to go walking or SOMETHING today.  |

| I'm sitting in my dining room with Lola right now. She's upset that my uncle isn't coming to get her, as he usually would on a Monday following her spending the weekend here.
I was under the impression that he was coming as well, but when the time that he'd usually be here had come and gone we tried calling him and he didn't answer our calls. It was my mom calling us to say, "Go get her some Filipino food" that finally indicated he wasn't coming at all. Would have been nice if we were informed. This has been the first week since before our trip that she's been sent here. Apparently in the month or so since we had her my cousin went off at her (this is according to her, I might add) and demanded that he have his old room back -- the room, in which, she's been living over there. So, here I am. Brandon's out, on my bike (since his car is out of commission), getting us Church's chicken because that's all she eats when I watch her. She won't eat anything else. And I'm confused. Is she completely living here again? Was she such an inconvenience to my cousin and aunt who spend all day and night at home that they needed to encroach on her space there when they've got plenty of room? Either way, it's come to my understanding that while my parents have previously demanded that I get a job before our trip, this whole having to watch Lola all the time would not allow me to do so. Frankly, I'm thankful I was able to graduate. If my aunts had it their way, I'd probably have had to put my internship on hold and sat here all day, waiting for Lola to die. Fortunately, my employer understood and had me work Tuesdays and Thursdays so I could be available to watch Lola on Fridays. And on the bright side, with her being here, she's not walking through dog shit, with my aunt who smokes like a chimney, and a house that's entirely covered in grease, dust, grime, and clutter. | Fuck today.
For one thing, I was REALLY hoping to go hiking today since I wasn't able to at all this weekend, but 1) my dad took my car and went somewhere all day and 2) my grandmother ended up staying here and I had to watch her. I really need to get out and get some exercise. Then sometime around noon Brandon's mom called to say she isn't coming out for Thanksgiving because she started a fight with her sister (Brandon's Aunt Michelle) and now Michelle's not going to do anything for the holidays. So we're doing Thanksgiving at home with my family, and my dad's pissed because we have to invite family that will probably end up causing drama. Seriously, I was really looking forward to Linda coming to town and spending time with her. When we finally got out, I had to put up with a rude, nosy bank teller who kept wanting to ask me questions about what I was doing for Thanksgiving, whether or not I'll be cooking, what I might be bringing to the holiday dinner, and of course going, "Why don't you have a savings account?" Walking through the market I almost got hit by several different people pushing their carts too fast and brashly through the store, and then there were all the people who were driving like shitheads through the parking lot and on the way to Costco. After a guy in an Acura almost hit us turning left when we had the right of way, trying to turn right, and I snapped and yelled at him, the guy then proceeded to tailgate us and yell, "Hey, bitch, get out the car!!" among other things like an obnoxious, yapping dog. I sat there and he quickly turned the corner. So now I'm at home watching Terra Nova (which SUUUUUUUUUCKS, Fox) and occasionally eating a chocolate-covered potato chip. God, just fuck it all. |
