Currently working my way through "Ran," an Akira Kurosawa film loosely based on "King Lear." I like the visuals, but I also like other films of his much better. I don't see how this is considered better than "Yojimbo" or "Rashomon."

Well, hope it's as fun as you imagine. I feel like I'm at least doing better at some of this adulting stuff, but then I'm not exactly killing it.

We got invited to one of those Ugly Christmas Sweater parties. Had to run out and buy a couple, and since the thrift stores would never have any that fit and we didn't have the time to dig, we hit up a couple of the specialty boutiques. Holy shit are these sweaters expensive. This place in Little Tokyo had them starting at $40 a sweater. Ended up getting them from the place where I buy my dad's Hawaiian shirts for $25/apiece.

Turns out my work wants us to do an Ugly Sweater day on our last workday before Christmas.

I guess the easy go-to would have been the time I got rear-ended last year. First time being in an accident where I was behind the wheel. The woman didn't speak English and walked around the corner to get someone who did, who just kept trying to get me to accept some money and act like I never saw them before. I'd already called the police.

It was crazy. My first instinct was to put the car in park and then run out and take a picture of her license plate, then her, and then pull the car over so other cars could pass, then call the cops. I was shaking the whole time. It ended up being a $17,000 repair and my back hurt for months.

What fandoms did you get swept up in this year?

We're getting the 26th and 2nd off, since we'd normally get Christmas and New Year's Day, but they both fell on weekends. I'm happy with two Mondays in a row.

And then I'm pretty sure we're getting the 16th off for MLK.

I probably should use a day off to clean my room, but I'm either much too tired or too busy. It really has gotten unwieldy, though.

I do thoroughly recommend checking out his films, especially since so many things drew inspiration from them ("Magnificent Seven" is based on his "Seven Samurai," etc.)

"Yojimbo" is easily my favorite of the ones I've seen, but then I still need to watch "Seven Samurai" all the way through. Seems like any of the movies he made starring Toshiro Mifune are gold.

In the end, the whole room falls to ruin because I can never get it ALL done. I've lost faith in getting this place clean.

Was in the pit for Metallica last night, and it turns out one of my co-workers is trying to get me fired. Woo.

Like: "Mele Kalikimaka" (any version is fine, but Bing and the Andrew Sisters is classic) and The Killers' "Cowboys Christmas Ball." And neither gets played on the Christmas music stations. Apparently Obama's been known to strut around the White House singing "Mele Kalikimaka" to himself.

Puts me in "MURDER MODE": "Last Christmas" and "Baby It's Cold Outside."

I've got Yahoo! accounts, and I haven't touched them in years.

Heh, I changed the password the last time there was a breach announced. I just tried to log in, but can't remember it. Hit "Forgot Password?" and it's sending the info to my AOL. I've apparently forgotten that password as well. Greaaaaat.

I was able to get into my AOL, which was completely overrun with spam, by typing in some basic info about myself. It was a bit too easy.

Anyway, from there got into my Yahoo! which was pretty much just 2,500 notifications from Gaia Online and my cats' Facebook account. Password changed.

FINALLY bought a steam basket. It's like a whole new world with so many doors at last open.

Just made Trader Joe's Thai shrimp gyoza as a breakfast snack.

We have one of those giant steamers that my mom's used for Filipino food, but it takes forever just to make enough steam to cook the thing you want. With my new steam basket, I've got my food ready in nearly 10 minutes.

My friend sort of insisted I start it. I haven't updated it in a very long time.

Fact: I've come to realize the friends with whom I've maintained contact because I sort of feel sorry for them have prepared me to have the patience for some of the behaviors I deal with from some of my clients at work.

Saw this going around FB this week:

1. What was the last thing you put in your mouth?
- Trader Joe's vegetable gyoza, which I just steamed up.

2. Where was you profile picture taken?
- Pat's wedding (answering regarding my FB photo.)

3. Do you play Pokemon Go?
- No.

4. Name someone who made you laugh today.
- Brandon. We were talking very loudly about how Kyle Reese stole a bum's pee-pants. Sarah Connor should have been turned off by this.

5. How late did you stay up last night and why?
- 2 a.m., we were at an ugly sweater party and talking with people we never get the chance to.

6. If you could move somewhere else where would it be?
- Pacific Northwest.

7. Ever been kissed under the fireworks?
- Not sure. Probably? I mean we see Disneyland's going off all the time.

8. Which of your closest friends lives closest?
- Brandon and I share a bed.

9. Do you believe ex's can be friends?
- Yes.

10. How do you feel about Dr. Pepper?
- Indifferent.

11. When is the last time you cried?
- While I was on my way to pick up clients one morning. I heard a story on NPR about a mother mountain lion getting run over on one of the freeways. Rangers know that she has three kittens.

12. Who took your profile picture?
- Brandon.

13. Who was the last person you took a picture/video of?
- Was at the Huntington with Bernie earlier today, and she ended up in a few of the pictures.

14. Was yesterday better than today?
- Both were weekend days and both had their perks. Yesterday was the ugly sweater party. Today we had breakfast in San Pedro and then I went to the Huntington with Bernie while Bran was at work. Eh, they're about even.

15. Can you live a day without TV?
- Easily.

16.Are you upset about anything?
- Yes, and I'm trying to get over it so I'd rather not write it here, re-read this later, remember what it was about, and get pissed off all over again.

17. Do you think relationships are ever really worth it?
- Yes?

18. If you could have any job/career, which would you choose?
- If I knew this, I'd know what I'm supposed to try to do with my life. Professional and successful writer, I suppose.

19. Are you a bad influence?
- Depends on the person.

So what's everyone doing this weekend?

I've got nothing planned at all. We don't even have a tree up. My parents have been on vacation since the beginning of the month. Still haven't even gotten anything for Brandon.

We had an ugly sweater day and secret Santa at work today. That's pretty much it for my holiday plans.

I guess at some point we'll try to go over to Riverside to see the Christmas lights on the Mission Inn?

Yeah, I've got nothin'.

So far all we've done is just go out and look at Christmas lights on a few days.

We went to Sleepy Hollow a few nights ago, Naples the next night, did nothing on Friday but lay around in pajamas since we were tired and it was pouring rain. Yesterday we drove out to Riverside to see the Mission Inn all lit up. They had the Gingerbread truck.

No plans for today at all.

I got bored and read the plot on Wikipedia.

Seems like everyone either absolutely loves it or is going, "Am I the only one who hated it?" on Facebook.

FUCK the judge who handled my future-sister-in-law's case against her abusive husband. Apparently he's known for blaming the victims in cases and went ahead and accepted the letters of the husband's family (he was only supposed to allow 20 pages and he allowed the full 63 pages) as evidence that he's a great father and that Sara's a horrible mother with a disgusting house. The judge fucking dropped the restraining order she had and a lot of the resources out there for single mothers and battered women are dissolving up there.

I'm so goddamn pissed.

I mailed Sara some money earlier this month, which she's been using for food and presents for the kids. Thankfully it sounds like this asshole has not gotten to it.

Her husband's family are fucking awful at that. She had to call the cops because they showed this weekend, banging on her door to let him see the kids. They're terrible people and I've seen them being shitty firsthand. Goddamn classless hillbillies.

I know we're all supposed to be going, "WE DON'T TALK ABOUT 2016!!" but that means there's a lot to discuss. I'm trying to focus on the positive.

Feel free to copy this and answer the questions yourself.

What have you done in 2016 that you have never done before?
- Wore an engagement ring, got fitted for and wore real faire boots, got a manicure/pedicure, saw Gogol Bordello perform, rented a car in my name, drove through a redwood tree, took a bath in a clawfoot tub, got a membership for the Huntington, started wedding plans, assisted an off-duty cop with an accident (I was the first person to run up to the woman), worked at another center for a month, saw "Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark" with an orchestra playing the soundtrack live, hung out with wolves, climbed the tower of the Museum of Man, petted horned sharks, set up a tea party in Griffith Park with candelabras, had a brief light saber fencing lesson on the dancefloor of a wedding, ate a macaroon penis, visited lots of new places.

Did you keep your new years resolution from this year, and will you make one for next year?
- Pretty much. Going to continue with the trying/learning at least one new thing a day.

Did anyone close to you give birth?
- None yet, but I know so many pregnant women expecting early next year.

Did anyone close to you die?
- Zach, one of the guys from ConOps. My dad's sister, Jodi, also passed away. She'd long been suffering from cystic fibrosis, but she'd managed to long outlive the diagnosis, dying in her mid-50s when they said she'd probably never see 25.

Did anyone close to you get married?
- I went to Pat's wedding.

Did anyone close to you get divorced?
- Elara, and Sara's trying to. She's got a restraining order out for her husband.

Where did you travel to in 2016?
- Not to the extent of last year. We went to Northern California a few times and Arizona twice.

What would you like to have in 2017 that you lacked in 2016?
- "I'm actually amazed I lived up to last year's hope of traveling more. 2015 was a very full year. Hm, perhaps 2016 could bring less stress and more peace of mind, but then where would the fun be?"

That's what I wrote last year, apparently. I feel like 2016 was FAR MORE stressing and had much, much less peace of mind. Shit, man. 2017 could use a lot more just learning to let shit go and relax.

What dates from 2016 will you have etched in your memory, and why?
- The year was such a blur. For obvious reasons, the night of Nov. 8 will stick in there, whether I like it or not, just like 9/11.

Anyway, for me personally, I'd say the day Bran and I got to be in the pit for Metallica earlier this week. It was pretty friggin' awesome.

Another one would be the day we set up a formal tea party in the Griffith Park Old Zoo area and watched a performance of "The Tempest." Not a major event, I know, but it was fun and I went all out for it.

A bit bigger, though, would probably have been my last day at my old center (before I ended up coming back a little more than a month later.) It was Hawaii Day at work, so I brought in some of my tiki mugs and filled them with plumeria from the yard and brought silk leis for the clients and some co-workers, and wore my Hawaiian shirts. My cooking club made spam musubi, and then I took the laundry club out. Several clients were upset I was leaving, one in particular who actually can't walk very well, kept insisting he was going to go walk with me to the laundromat, but my boss kept having to argue with him. He eventually looked to me and said, "I don't want to leave you like this," and was taken outside to get his bike and leave the center for the day. At the laundromat we danced to "Lilo and Stitch" music and then on our way back we witnessed a bad car accident. I ran up to the elderly woman who'd hit everyone, her face was bleeding and I asked her if she was OK. She had a laceration that completely flayed open her right arm. An off-duty officer ran up as I went to get some of the clean towels that we had JUST laundered (I instructed my aide to get the clients back to the center) and he needed gloves, which I HAD (I always have latex gloves while on the job because we never know when we'll need them.) I assisted where I could and when an ambulance just happened to wander over, I started walking back to the center and my boss met me halfway. That afternoon I was dropping clients off at their homes and when I got back most of everyone had already left, but a co-worker bought me a cake. At night I was do depressed and angry with myself for leaving, I insisted Bran and I go out and drink. It's the first time I ever really drank out of complete sadness. I had way too much rum and then walked around Downtown Disney, laughing like a jackass at everything.

There are other days, but most of them line up with questions that are sure to come.

What was your biggest achievement of the year?
- Got my first credit card and currently have a FICO score of 786. Getting a credit card has been super-helpful. Actually I'm living off mine right now 'til I get paid next week. Sucks having much of my paycheck be owed to Wells Fargo, but it's been nice being able to continue to live and not just doing things when there's money in the bank.

What was your biggest failure?
- Oh boy, let's see. Not securing another job outside of this center, and the one that I do go for ends up being TERRIBLE, and realizing I'm succumbing to the work drama cultivated by the cliques trying to get different people fired. It's ridiculous. But again, this is all going back to how I need to learn to let shit go, respect those who have the balls to tell you that you're doing something wrong and NOT just see you fucking up and then telling the boss on you, and stop getting completely fucking stressed. Well, at least I haven't started any childish internet fights with people.

Did you suffer injury or illness?
- I got sick a few times; ended up in urgent care once with an IV in my hand. Not sure what's going on with me, but at least I've got health insurance. I've been having foot and ankle problems for most of the past year.

What was the best thing you bought?
- My Huntington membership is at the top. Next would be my custom-made boots, which I got fitted for at Arizona's faire. After that would be the merlot-colored faux leather jacket I got which has received a lot of compliments.

Whose behavior merited celebration?
- Sara's. She's finally leaving her husband whose been (literally) pissing away their money on drinking and not contributing to taking care of their kids.

Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
- Rather than keep the much more personal answer I had here I'm going to deflect to "the American people." This election was brutal and A LOT of people's behavior since Nov. 8 has been downright savage, especially regarding all the assaults on persons of color that seem to be carried out by hillbillies emboldened by the way things are going.

Wait. Just heard from Sara. It appears the judge who's handled her husband's restraining order case is a complete piece of shit and sided with her dirtbag louse of a husband. Fuck that guy.

Where did most of your money go?
- Other than food, gas, and clothes, the biggest splurges would be the trips we've taken to Northern California. The most expensive was the most recent trip for Pat's wedding. I spent over $100 on lunch at the oldest restaurant in San Francisco and then dropped like $60 at a tiki bar. THAT'S IT! Yeah, tiki mugs. I've been amassing quite a collection this year. I mean, my faire boots cost $600-something, but the tiki mugs are pretty much just for decoration, in the end. I've also been crazy addicted to the stationery store that's in the Japanese market between my work and Mom's. I've also been throwing money around for friends who need it, occasionally, sort of a penance for all the money they've blown on me over the years.

What did you get really, really, really excited about?
- Getting to see "Raiders of the Lost Ark" with a live orchestra playing the soundtrack, seeing Gogol Bordello open for Flogging Molly, the trips we've gone on, the new season of "Game of Thrones," getting my new boots in the mail, going out for high tea, getting to see friends who don't live nearby, getting to be a model for the Hapa Project.

What song will always remind you of 2016?
- Eh, probably the songs from "Hamilton" since it was so over-hyped this year (rightfully so, for the most part) and I watched this special on it. There's so friggin' many memes with people parodying the songs now.

Compared to this time last year, you are:
a) Happier or Sadder?
- Compared with LAST year, sadder. But last year was one of the best years of my life. I'm not sad, but I'm definitely more frustrated.
b) Thinner or Fatter?
- Not entirely sure. About the same?
c) Richer or Poorer?
- Poorer.

What do you wish you would have done more of?
- I've tended to write, "Make new friends." It's true that I still wish I could better connect with people, but I put myself out there more and did make a few new ones. This year's answer is: "Let things go."

What do you wish you would have done less of?
- "Same answer as before: 'Worried less.' Yep."

What I wrote last year. It still applies. In fact, I originally wrote that I needed to worry less in answer to the last question, but read this one and changed that shit above.

How did you spend New Year's Eve? (December 31, 2015)
- Went to a party at Brandon's band's bassplayer's house. Right after midnight he announced our engagement to everyone.

How did you spend New Year's Day? (January 1)
- Hiked Temescal Canyon. A British couple asked if we wanted a picture from this bridge and took one of us.

How did you spend Valentine's Day? (February 14)
- Worked Gallifrey. Watched Patricia Quinn demand a dalek sing "Happy Birthday" to her. It was surreal.

How did you spend St. Patrick's Day? (March 17)
- We went to the FIDM movie exhibit and then hung out in a Japanese garden tea house. At night we saw Gogol Bordello and Flogging Molly perform.

How did you spend Easter? (March 27)
- Attended Wondercon.

How did you spend Cinco de Mayo? (May 5)
- Slept most of the day and watched the Al Pacino version of "Merchant of Venice."

How did you spend the 4th of July?
- I had the day off work. Bran and I drove around looking at fireworks.

How did you spend Patriot Day? (September 11)
- Watching Netflix, apparently. I was in the middle of binge-watching the second season of "Galavant."

How did you spend Talk Like a Pirate Day? (September 19)?
- It was Mom's 70th birthday, so we went to dinner.

How did you spend Halloween? (October 31)
- Went to work dressed in my Renaissance faire garb with a tricorn hat I borrowed from Christina, which for me was lazy since it's pretty much just wearing clothes for me and not a costume. People assumed I was a pirate, so I just went with it. Got a lot of compliments on my costume with people stalking me around Whole Foods for pictures (which I took with them) and asking me about different details in my costume. The cashier said I looked like I was a pirate queen and that I could be Jack Sparrow's daughter. When I went to get a coffee next door as I started to hand the guy my credit card he said, "You know, since you've had the best costume I've seen all day, don't worry about it. You're good."

That night we dropped off a six-pack for the guy in Paramount who goes all out decorating his house. He appreciated it.

How did you spend Thanksgiving? (November 24)
- Visiting Brandon's family in Arizona. On Thanksgiving Day we took a break from all the cooking to drive up South Mountain and then had dinner that night. Bran and I attempted to visit a tiki bar in Tucson that said they would be open 'til 1 a.m., but when we got there was closed. The next day we attended a family reunion, which was more of a family gathering since only like 12 people other than us showed up. Actually, that might even be an overestimate. We stayed and talked with a few people for a while. Tried out the new tiki bar. On Saturday went up to Sedona, which is more worth sharing pictures of. Sunday, we were supposed to just head out, but due to some ridiculous family drama we ended up going out with Bran's mom for a while (the family drama was NOT her or Bran's grandmother) getting breakfast and seeing the ghost town. When we finally left we made for San Diego, which was rather treacherous due to the rain and wind and our apparently less than functional wipers. We made it to the new tiki bar (yes, there's indeed a pattern) in SD, False Idol (which you have to have reservations for and then enter through a freezer), ate some sandwich's at Lestat's, and then went home.

How did you spend Christmas? (December 25)
- We opened presents. Brandon got me the leather bag I'd been really wanting from Duluth Trading. <3 I gave my parents a membership to the Huntington and a load of DVDs. We went out to breakfast and then just hung around the house all day, cooking and eating. Lee and his mom came over for dinner. I roasted a whole chicken for the first time. Lee later took his mom home and then came back to pick us up so we could look at Christmas lights in different neighborhoods.

Did you fall in love in 2016?
- Brandon and I celebrated our 12th year together. We decided to go "to the redwoods" and didn't plan for more than that. Booked a last minute stay at a Victorian inn in Mendocino. It was a great trip.

What was your favorite TV show?
- "Game of Thrones remained on top. Rick and Morty was a close second."

That was my answer last year and it's still true (holy crap, "The Battle of the Bastards" is one of the greatest television events EVER.) This year we also got into Silicon Valley, Westworld, Stranger Things, and Medici: Masters of Florence. This season of Orange is the New Black was also wonderful and heartbreaking. Just started watching Man in the High Castle. We're only halfway through the first season, and it's pretty good.

What was your least favorite show of 2016?
- Of the shows we watched, I'd say the worst was Vice Principals, which had so much potential. We've struggled to finish Twin Peaks season 2 and Luke Cage, but I wouldn't call them terrible shows or even something I'd consider a least favorite. I'd say The Walking Dead, but we gave up on that a while ago. We tried to start Preacher, which is based on one of my absolute favorite graphic novel series, and I just couldn't stop hating it. Years of anticipation.

Oh wait, this was the year I finally watched Outlander. The last two episodes of the first season are fucking traumatizing. Never picking it up again. THAT was my least favorite show of the year.

Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
- I always hate this question. I guess I'm more disappointed in several people than I was last year, sure.

What was the best book you read?
- Freakonomics: A Rogue Economist Explores the Hidden Side of Everything (by Stephen J. Dubner and Steven Levitt), Is Shakespeare Dead? (by Mark Twain <3 <3 <3), Wiseguy: Life in a Mafia Family (by Nicholas Pileggi), and Eaters of the Dead (by Michael Crichton) were all good reads. My favorite, though, was probably the first volume of the graphic novel, MeZolith. Goddamn beautiful.

Bran and I also listened to The Martian audiobook together. That was really good.

What was your greatest musical discovery?
- Hm. I actually didn't listen to a lot of new music this year. Favorite songs of this year were The Killers' Christmas song from last year, "Dirt Sledding" and most of Oddwood's latest album, Lawful Evil.

What did you want and get?
- I had rather simple desires this year. I wanted that bag Bran got me, new faire boots, tea at the Huntington with Elara and Kaleb, a trip to the redwoods and to take a bath in a clawfoot tub.

What did you want and not get?
- A new job, I guess. I tried transferring to another center, but that was disastrous.

What was your favorite film of this year?
- We didn't go to the movies much this year. We saw Hail, Caesar!, Deadpool, The Magnificent Seven, Star Trek Beyond, Warcraft, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens (yeah, I know it's technically a 2015 movie.) Outside of that I watched Zootopia on Netflix, and that movie is actually REALLY good. As was The Big Short. Favorite of the bunch is probably Zootopia.

I also watched a lot of old movies this year, particularly ones that have been banned for one reason or another. The Devils was definitely one that'll stick in my mind. Otherwise, I've been almost obsessively been watching Akira Kurosawa/Toshiro Mifune movies.

What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
- I turned 31 and gave myself a five-day weekend. On my birthday, Bran and I went to the mummy exhibit at the Natural History Museum, which we got to wander through alone. We went to the newly opened Broad Museum in downtown and then walked around on the Walt Disney Concert Hall, had lunch at a pirate bar, then visited the Hammer Museum. Went to Trader Vic's for the first time (had a Mai Tai) and then went to dinner at Tam O'Shanter and had haggis for the first time. Went for tiki drinks and rocked out to The Hula Girls. A couple days later, Bran and I went down to San Diego to visit the zoo. Afterward, he proposed again with the ring while we were by the Museum of Man in Balboa Park. We celebrated with sangria at The Prado.

What is one thing that would have made your year more satisfying?
- If every morning my feet didn't hurt so bad that I have to grab onto every surface on my way to the bathroom.

How would you describe your personal fashion concept of 2016?
- Not much difference. I wore dresses from time to time. I've definitely tried to tone down the graphic T-shirts more, specifically when I feel a dress makes a better impact, like at Brandon's family reunion. I bought a pair of knee-high boots, which I started wearing this week. Easily my favorite shoes at the moment, especially paired with the scarf my parents brought for me from South America and more form-fitting pants. I mostly stopped wearing flip flops since they're doing nothing for my feet. Looking back through pictures of myself from the year, I'm usually either wearing a dress or a plain shirt. Depending on the season, I'm either wearing my Hawaiian shirt (spring and summer), a hoodie (earlier months of this year), or my military-ish jackets and flannels (this fall and winter.)

Snapshot a client took of me a couple weeks ago:

Still, I've definitely spent more on clothes than I think I ever have at any other time in my life.

What kept you sane?
- "Getting ramen, trying new things, and remembering to keep something positive on the horizon. Brandon and I started doing date nights, which made long weeks much bearable knowing there'd be something good to look forward to Friday night after work."

My answer for last year is still just as true as ever. We haven't really done date night much this year, but Brandon was still a great anchor for me and talking things out with him usually helped a situation. Usually reminding myself that I had something great coming up was enough to take my mind off some of the bullshit 2016 was apt to throw at all of us.

What celebrity/Public figure did you fancy the most?
- I'd say Chris Pratt, but he still wasn't enough to make me even the slightest bit interested in Passengers. Still, he was one of the good parts of the new Magnificent Seven. Oooh, Guardians of the Galaxy 2.

Then again I've already liked Pratt for a while, but not so much as a crush as just a general, "Hey, that dude's all right. He's the only thing good in this movie."

I'll admit a guilty pleasure here, though: 'Shipping Rey and Kylo Ren. Shhhh....

What political issue stirred you the most?

What news story was the most overblown?
- While I understand that celebrities can mean a lot to people, I was very tired of the mass-outcry over every single celebrity death with the words, "Fuck you, 2016." I get it when you are and have been a fan, but it's been too much. Believe it or not, that person didn't even know you exist.

Anyway, it's only going to get worse. More and more people whose names you know will eventually pass away. It's just we've hit this critical mass of people who have access to the internet who are at least minimally aware of some work the person passing away has done. Millennials be like, "Holy crap, Willy Wonka just died!" but didn't know Gene Wilder's other work, let alone his most recent. I don't know, I'm weird when it comes to parasocial relationship grief.

Who do you miss?
- There's too many people to really itemize this answer. The top of the list is one of my clients who's since changed centers. I got to say goodbye at least, though he's non-verbal. I slipped a burned CD of Kirby's Dream Band songs into his backpack since he so loved listening to them.

Did you reconnect with anyone?
- Yes and no. I hadn't really spoken to a lot of the LBCC crowd in years, though I got to hang out and talk with some here and there.

Tell us a life lesson you learned in 2016.
- As former astronaut Michael J. Massimino put it in an NPR interview, talking about his spacewalk to repair the Hubble Telescope, "No matter how bad things may appear, you can always make them worse."

Quote a song lyric that sums up your year.
- Seems like every year I quote "The Parting Glass." I feel the second half of the song is more applicable.

"So fill to me the parting glass
Good night and joy be with you all
Oh, all the comrades that e'er I had
They're sorry for my going away
And all the sweethearts that e'er I had
They'd wish me one more day to stay
But since it falls unto my lot
That I should rise and you should not
I'll gently rise and softly call
Good night and joy be with you all.
"

What plans do you have for 2017?
- Really not sure. My plans are a muddle, especially with all this wedding planning that needs to get done. Been at this a year and all we've got is a band and a make-up/hair person.

What are your resolutions for 2017?
- I really should get on losing weight and jump-start this wedding planning. We've got a venue in mind, but our date is too far ahead for them to book. And yes, I'll still do my "One New Thing a Day," because I've already been at that for years.

What will you be doing for New Year's Eve?
- Honestly, I'm still not sure. My co-workers want to do something and invited me. Supposedly we're doing something tonight. I don't know, I'm just going with it.

I would have answered Mark Twain too.

I have, but they were due to an outside stimulus (I'm allergic to certain metals -- though not entirely sure which -- and paints on my skin), so I just removed it. I've never really done more than that.

The worst I ever had was caused by a necklace I got at Disneyland. I thought it was wood, but it was actually plastic painted to look like it and my neck was completely encircled with hives for a week. Sometimes I'd get them on my stomach from a brass belt buckle I had that was finished to look like nickel.

Been binge-watching "The Man in the High Castle."

It's pretty good. A little predictable, but still good.
