Katana: If it wasn't for NFF being around for as long as it has and done the things it has done and had the people it had to keep it together, I wouldn't try so hard to keep it alive. It's you guys that made NFF be active, I was just there to help run it.

Xeo: I don't remember if we were affiliated from the very beginning, but I do remember you registering soon after I opened the board. Yeah, our two boards have gone through a lot over the last 3 1/2+ years.

Elara: Yeah, that's the one thing that I thought that would be looked down upon if I did that. Maybe I'll try it one of these days just to see what happens.

Spyware: Yeah, I miss the days of 2004 and 2005 the most. But you, along with all of my staff members, were staff because I believed you would do a good job and I still believe that. I'm glad things have been going well for you though. Things have been going hectic for me too lately. This year I'm going to Japan again for 10 days and then next year (hopefully) go to the school I've been trying to go to for the last year or so.

Even though August only brought about 37 posts, September brought only 21, and so far only one post has been made this month, I'm still confident that I can get some of the activity back soon.

The PulP: At least you can use the internet more now, and that should be a good thing.

Danny Phantom: As far as I know, you shouldn't have any problems logging on -- a few people tried just before you did, and I didn't notice them having any problems. *shrugs* If you want, I will reset your password for you so you can log on so please let me know.

Elara: Oh I see what you're saying. When I first opened up NFF, I registered the board through Google and other search engines, but so far no one has signed up from that. About 95% have been through other ABs. I think because there is no posting, no one wants to sign up.

Shuyin: Whenever you have time man, don't worry about it. I'm glad to hear that you're busy with your studies though.

insectduel, the first question was programmed wrong and therefore no one could register. This is fixed now, however. I do my best in making sure that my board is easy to navigate and free of errors.

Well, my room is not THAT bad, but I do have Japanese books and games all over the place. I do vacuum every once in a while (I would say once every 2 weeks), and I try not to have dust on my computer and TV. I don't have a big room, but you can tell that I study Japanese, lol. I do plan on giving my room a nice overhaul soon like you did Nagis -- who knows, I might find money I lost.

Depending on what kind of recoding needs to be done, I doubt that it's going to take a few minutes to do. Xeo, I thought you had moved to a new host already? Didn't you get any kind of warning that this was going to happen? I wish there was a way I could help you move your site . . .

I'm glad you got things fixed around here Xeo (thanks to Xkeeper), I knew the board wouldn't be down for long.

Haha, I had forgotten that forum was in there -- I think there were 2 "sexy picture" threads that I think Xeo started.

I thought this thread was going to be about the weather. Anyway, it's been a while since I have gotten sick. But if I feel like I'm going to get sick I increase liquid intake, eat more fruits and/or eat a few cough drops. I try to nip it for it becomes full blown. I was worried because a week before I went to Japan this year, I started to get sick. Luckily I felt better by the time I left -- I would have hated to visit my friends feeling sick.

I really didn't expect much because I get stuff periodically throughout the year, but my grandmother give me $100. I was surprised since she does stuff for me already.

I usually watch the ball drop on television, but I didn't do that this time -- I guess it doesn't phase me that much anymore. Anyway, I think I was doing something on my board, lol.

My mother kind of does the same thing, but that's because she comes home from work at about 12:30 AM and plays the Wii until about 3 or 4 AM. Sometimes I don't call her until after 12:30 PM because I know that she's still sleeping, lol.

Wow, I haven't heard that song in a long time, or any song from Haddaway for that matter. Anyway, right now I'm listening to the theme to Chrono Cross on Live365.

Wow, those are some nice pictures. Today it has been alternating between snow and freezing rain all day -- it just recently stopped. I didn't have to work today, so it didn't bother me that much.

Actually, I didn't think it snowed that much -- I woke this morning and there was about 5 inches on the ground. Well, it could be worse -- before it was snowing so much that they were running out of places to put the stuff.

The "if you want" TAI form is a bit hard to explain but I'll do the best I can:
???{????u?`????????v?`?????????????????????????????A???????????B
Nihongo no "~TAI NARA" katachi wa chotto setsumei shinikui nan desu kara, ganbarimasu.

"If you want to eat something now, there is Japanese food in the kitchen."
?????H?????????A????a?H????????????B
Moshi tabetai nara, daidokoro ni washoku ga arimasu yo.

So when you want to say "if you want [to do something]" then you will use the "TAI NARA" form.

Studying Japanese is hard work and if you're willing to go through it, it can actually be quite fun. It does get quite difficult, especially with the kanji -- but like everything else, practicing is the best way to go. I plan on going back to Japan this year hopefully for some extensive studying.

That sentence would be better put as:

"Because you are Japanese you should be good at tennis."

???{?l????e?j?X????????????B
Nihonjin nara TENISU ga tokui hazu desu.

You can't have both particles WA and NARA in the same phrase. NARA can also be used in place of WA in some situation but never both.

As far as I know, you have to leave $localhost alone and add a user to your database.

For example:

//MySQL setup
$sqlhost="localhost"; (This shouldn't be touched.)
$sqluser=(Assign the database at least one user. Example: name_nihongo)
$sqlpass=(Assign that user a password. Example: 12345)
$dbname=(Assign the database a name. Example: name_forumtest)

You have to make sure to enable your user in the database or else it won't work.

Yeah, I speak from experience that complaining about board activity is usually not the best to go. However, I do believe that by saying something about the board, it means you care about it. * shrugs * I also agree that restarting the board is usually not the best thing to do either. A few months ago, I restarted NFF and only managed to accumulate 73 posts so far. But -- luckily I still have the old board, so pulling that up should be no problem.

I can understand though where you're coming from Xeo. As is the case with NFF, little by little people were starting to leave and to be honest I didn't want them to go, so ultimately I complained about activity when it went down. So I think that made it worse. Losing contact with people you are used to seeing there was not a good thing. But I think I've been pretty good about not complaining about activity -- I don't think I even mentioned it once since the restart.

Back in 2004 when NFF started, it did 12,000 posts in 9 months. I think after I restarted it in December 2004 to upgrade to 1.92 was when things started going. I don't regret THAT restart. I'm starting to regret this one though.

In short, I think if the members are okay with the way things are going, there's no reason to bring it up. Besides, don't close the board, you're about 3,800 posts away from 100,000 -- that's got to be good right?

Raoh, maybe Xeo was "feeling it in his gut" considering the issue with the domain, that's why he feels the announcement was warranted -- just my take on it.
