You haven't lived Office Space until you've driven on the 405 heading anywhere and have done that changing lanes thing because the other lane was moving, but then the lane you left starts moving, so you change back and then the other lane moves...

Yeah, I've done that a few times in traffic. Along with a few other people as well. Classic moment.

I have insomnia and hypersomnia meaning that I can't sleep and when I do sleep, I oversleep. I've had insomnia since about mid junior high, and hypersomnia came about around mid junior college. Notice a trend here? Anyway, it's fine for me since I'm a night owl anyway, and I work at night. There are times when I have to sleep knowing that I need to be up early, but my body just doesn't function in the societal day-time awake, night-time asleep cycle. I'm mostly nocturnal now. I'm usually groggy and sleepy during the waking hours, and wide awake and alert at night.

I don't know about you, but I've learned to embrace my insomnia and not see it as a downfall. Its just another way for me to deviate away from the norm and operate at night. I, frankly, don't understand why we must be forced to do everything during the day. Why can't we operate things 24 hours a day so that when I'm up at 3 AM and need something from some store, I can go out and do that. But no, we have to sleep at night. Where's the fun in that?

I don't have a religion. I'm agnostic (you can click the word to find the meaning). However, I do follow a code of ethics.

I follow Hacker Ethics.

Mainly, the belief that all information in the world should be abundant and free, and any corporation or entity charging for said information is fallable. I could explain further, but I have to get to work now.

The Quake makers can't sue people they work with. Bad business. Quake, being done at both Activision and Raven studios, 4 will be so cool when its done. I, unfortunately, don't know anything about the project since its access is strictly secured. And, that's all you'll get out of me.

With all do respect, I'll still answer your question, no matter how wonderfully, unthoughtfully, disrespectfully offensive it is.

Since I am gay, I don't know. Brad Pitt. Maybe...if he had a brain.

Since I am gay, no woman can make me straight. Hetero sex is just icky to me.

Working in the industry, I have decided that the entire GTA enterprise should have started as an AO rating. It is just one year, but those uptight soccer moms and other people that don't realize that games are no longer just for kids need to grow up and go to hell. It's those bureaucratic idiots with too much (or lack of) time and money that decide their going to have their videogame console babysit their children, not paying attention to the ratings, and not realizing that not all games are meant for children...it's those people that I say can totally go to hell.

But, being an adult...I don't really give a crap. I earn money, and I play videogames for a living. The code's available somewhere, and I can still get the game some place, so there.

Ooh, Star Wars references...

Anyway, yeah, whatever happens happens. End of Story. Once you surpass the 18 year old limit, or 21 for that matter, everything is just a blur. If I wanted the game, I can acquire from anywhere on the planet. I read, write, and speak four languages. I'm sure I can get a localized copy if I wanted it. I don't.

It's just a rating system that should be followed. But all ratings systems are a joke. There are so many loopholes. If you'll excuse me, I'm going to hijack a car now and run over some hoes before work. Then, I'm going randomly feed on people at work. Why? Because I'm a gamer as a hobby and for work.

Nice to know that I'm somewhat unique and that my views, while being skewed by the media and certain boards and other communities, are widely being ignored.

I live life knowing that the human race is inferior and that it will eventually cease to exist. Not in my generation, but eventually. I live life day to day not really caring about anything. Shit happens, you deal. That's all.

Sleep, eat, poop, drive, play videogames (at home), play videogames (at work), write, steal, create, destroy, whatever. It's just stuff to fill up our menial existences anyway. And, organized religion is such propaganda anyway. Always embraced by the weaker minded.

Why not try just doing what you want to do? Embracing the darker arts, or just outside the norm, and not doing it because you thinks it's cool, or you want to defy your parents. Unless being a sheep is your thing.

The rating systems were created so that conscious shoppers could know at a glance what a game entailed as far as its graphics and content. But, much like movies, if parent and older people in charge of the younger people don't police what their little people purchase, who else is to blame but themselves? The companies take the effort to place rating systems on their games and market them towards the appropriate groups. They no longer control who the game gets sold to after it reaches stores.

If my younger cousin wants San Andreas, and I think he can handle it based on what he watches unsupervised on TV, sure, let him have it. It is just a game. He doesn't ever have urges to break out some random gun, get high, nor go on shooting rampages through town. He's just a kid. He can differentiate between a game and life.

Older people that start these battles have nothing better to do, and are just shocked by the fact that they can't comprehend that adults would be gamers. Face it, 80% of total games produced now are marketed towards older teens and adults. Why? Adults have money. And, most consoles are designed with the power to run the higher-end games that require those aspects just to sell. What about going after the Doom series? What about going after any videogame because they are so addicting? Are we gonna start treating the gaming industry like we do the tobacco industry? Are the Truth.com people gonna start harassing gamers as well?

Geez, it's a bad move on Rockstar's part, and that's it. The code should have been completely removed. And, being a tester, I understand that most of the time that isn't possible. And, everything can be reverse engineered. My message to the public: "Shit happens, move on."

adopt your own virtual pet!

Just had to create another one. If you move the mouse around a lot over him, you'll basically have the same little fuzz ball that runs around our yard over and over again. Damned ADD dog. We still love him. If you click on him, he barks. Click on the dog treats, then double click anywhere around him, he'll eat the treat. Isn't he cute?

I have three titles, all meaning the same thing:
Quality Assurance Technician
Jr. Systems Test Engineer
Videogame Tester

I work for Activision Publishing, testing videogames months before they're finally released so that they are relatively bug free.

Sound like a dream job? It kind of is. Except that I test the same videogame every single day and write reports on bugs every day for several months at a time. But, my name appears in the credits for the game.

As the game nears its time for submission, our hours increase, so I'm voluntarily working 12 hours (all paid) per day, six days out of the week. I'm paid at a rate of $9/hour, plus an additional rate of $13/hour for the overtime, and time-and-a-half on Sundays. For all employees working over 8 hours, the company pays for food for lunch. So, I never buy lunch while working overtime. And, on weekends, we all get free lunch.

After 30 days, we're allowed to purchase from the company store at a reduced rate. About $5 per console game, $7 per computer game. After 90 days, we start to receive free games from the company.

It has benefits, but they're expensive, so I don't have any health thingies. We have fun. I can't write down the details of my job, since I work in a secured environment requiring key-card access to practically all the doors in the building, including the parking lot.

And, I get an email account with Activision, available in my profile if ever you want to get in touch for whatever reason. Basically, I make between $360 and $600 per week (before taxes) mostly for playing the same videogame. So, I make between $1200 to $2400 a month playing the same videogame (before taxes). Breaks down to between $14,400 to $28,800 in an annual salary (before taxes).

In addition to this, I still run my computer repair and building company--Almodovar Enterprises--in my hometown. It's a home based business, but I have about 10 employees (pro bono), and often make about $500 per week on my regular clients.

Except that I don't perceive them as problems, rather a problem with society forcing us all to operate during daylight hours. Where's the freedom and fun in that?

Tokyo, Japan -- A Japanese scientist recently unveiled his newest creation, and she's "alive."

"Repliee Q1" was introduced to the world in Tokyo, Japan. The female android is the creation of Professor Hiroshi Ishiguru of Osaka University. He says one day robots could fool us into believing they are human.

Repliee Q1 is designed to look and act human. Currently, she can sit, but she can also smile, flutter her eyelids and move her hands like a human. She even appears to breathe.

Video of Repliee Q1

Repliee Q1 is the "female" on the left.

The Japanese professor claims that their next move is to have the android walk around and operate on its own. The Japanese are so cool. First, the Prius parks itself. Now, an android that looks almost human. Wow.

Oh, and if you can find my lawn, please stay off of it. Half of the lawn disappeared when the board went down last time, and I'm still a little pissed. I cannot be held accountable for whatever the Prius does to you.

She's wearing gloves outfitted with special tactile sensors so that she can "feel" when she touches or when people touch her hands. Since she has no fingerprints, the gloves help her have that traction we have through fingerprints to grab onto things.
