It's the quality of sound that sucks. It's about as bad as the Gravitation dub.

I put my bit of change to the Salvation Army. They fund the homeless shelters here. If Eric has to work on Christmas Day I might be volunteering at the dinner at the homeless shelter.

Anywho... I don't have much to donate. T^T

Just got this e-mail

Operation Iraqi Freedom/New Dawn

They [Soldiers] will cross the border out of Iraq with their heads held
high. One of the most extraordinary chapters in the history of the
American military will come to an end. Iraq's future will be in the hands
of its people. America's war in Iraq will be over.

President Obama, 14 December 2011

The magnitude of what this Nation and our Soldiers have accomplished in Iraq is unprecedented. We have never been more proud of our Army – our Soldiers, Civilians and our Families. You freed over twenty-five million people from tyranny and given hope when hope was forsaken. Our Army provided new opportunity for the people of Iraq. No other Army in the world could have accomplished what you have done - Only American Soldiers.

Throughout Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation New Dawn, our Soldiers embodied physical and mental toughness and courage under fire. Over the past eight years, the quality of our Soldiers has stood in stark contrast to the desert sands. Just as the WWII generation defeated tyranny across the globe, a new generation - galvanized by the attacks of September 11th - bravely defeated tyranny once again. Even during the darkest days in Iraq, our Soldiers never wavered in the face of growing doubt. They continued to risk life and limb for a cause larger than themselves. For their heroic action, they received nearly 9,000 awards for valor including two Medals of Honor, 16 Distinguished Services Crosses, and 408 Silver Stars.

We remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice, our Wounded Warriors, our Gold Star Families, and all of our loved ones who have been touched by the horror of war. Their sacrifices have given meaning to our values and ideals. For that, we thank them. A grateful Nation will always remember, respect, and appreciate these heroes as the Next Greatest Generation.

We are extremely proud of all of our Soldiers, Civilians, and Families. Our Army has once again proved that it is America's Force of Decisive Action. Thank you for a job well done. Army Strong!

I posted up a little blip about it before. According to that if you are missing a finger or have more than a week's worth of food you could be considered a terrorist. This has been vetoed from what my knowledge and reading into this has gotten from it.

I've actually looked into this. This bill was redone twice. TWICE...

FIRST OF ALL This is an article from yester:

NDAA Article

Section 1031 is no longer 1031 it is 1021. It states that:

Section 1021 purports to “affirm” the military’s authority to hold people in indefinite detention without charge pursuant to the AUMF. Although the original House version of the bill would have stated explicitly that the US continues to be in an armed conflict with Al Qaeda, the Taliban and associated groups, the final version of the bill is somewhat more circumspect.

SO this is a little bit more discreet now.

Section 1022 is the one you need to be worried about.

Section 1022 takes a subset of the persons possibly subject to military detention under section 1021—focusing essentially on persons with a stronger connection to terrorism—and creates a presumption that they will be held in military detention.

So there's bad news and good news

Bad News:

The bad news is that, as passed, sections 1021 and 1022 represent clear congressional approval of what, up to now, has been solely the executive branch’s decision to hold people in indefinite detention without charge. (Remember that the AUMF itself was silent on detention questions.) Giving the practice a firm and explicit statutory grounding not only makes it less vulnerable to legal challenge, it may well make the practice more permanent.

Good News:

The good news, to the extent there is any, is that neither section 1021 nor section 1022 defines the “war” or the “hostilities” at issue. They do not, in other words, explicitly embrace the “global war on terror” paradigm that equates terrorism with armed conflict and suspected terrorists with enemy soldiers. By failing to address that question, they leave open the theoretical (if unlikely) possibility that a court could give the statute a narrow reading consistent with international law understandings of armed conflict.

Obama threatened to veto this bill TWICE because of those two sections.

The thing is it's not going to be forever... it really isn't indefinite. It's till the end of hostilities. *shrug* just putting out there that Wikipedia is not as accurate as you want it to be.

Woah... what?! PAY INCREASE FOR MILITARY?! Woohoo!

I was joking... yes... I was just joking... I make beans with the Reserves anyway if anyone pays attention.

We tend to get real close with our pets. Believe it or not when I play, tease, and love my cat Pip Squeek it's because she's part of the family. Just like how Luna was.

I came home for the holidays and Luna our cat we had for almost 15 years was looking rough... She wouldn't pick her head like she usually did up until she had to go eat and she would go back to her bed and sleep. She was so pitiful.

Then I get the message from my mom today that she was having a hard time eating and she wouldn't get out of her bed. She told me Luna passed on today. She's one of the smartest cats I've ever met. We had to kick her out of the house but for being declawed she was very good at killing mocking birds with just her back feet.

Mom's been blubbering about it a lot too. She's wanting to get another cat to help ease the pain but it's going to be hard to replace her. Mom's talking Maine Coon.

So long Luna... You were a huge part of our family.

Along with that we all had a memorial over a Google+ conversation since it really affected my Mom, sis, bro, and myself. We're all in different places so we all just sent messages to each other to comfort each other. I broke down in bed and had to get back up and drink a ton of water because of my allergies.

Yeah we get really attached to our pets. I don't know about this Maine Coon though... Since I'm going to be out of the house the cat isn't going to get to know me at all. That's how I feel about it.

I totally know where he's coming from on the elderly lady, my great-grandpa was there before my grandfather decided to take care of him.

Great to know he's doing well. I'm so proud of him doing all these good things for people. I want to be there but right now I am more busy trying to take care of myself so the kid comes out okay.
